  • "Il Mito is our new favorite for special occasions. During this visit, we were warmly greeted by staff and seated promptly. Husband had Bolognese and I had Turkey Marsala. The leek soup is not to be missed, and anything with polenta is out of this world. Everything here is fresh and expertly prepared. Great wine and bar selections. I say this restaurant is kid-friendly, because we had our teenagers with us, and there were a couple other families along with a typical upscale restaurant crowd. But it is a very quiet atmosphere, very low-key, and special without being uptight or too formal. I wouldn't have brought our kids when they were toddlers. Service is impeccable. Thank you Craig H for your attentiveness and professionalism."

  • "This was our first visit to Il Mito East, although we've eaten several times at their other location. The menu was quite extensive. The four of us each selected a different salad to start our meal. While they were all good, visually they looked very muddled and not especially appetizing. The osso buco was the biggest hit of the entrees. The pork chop was tasty, but a bit overcooked and dry. I really didn't care for the overwhelming sage flavor of the linguine that accompanied that entrée, and sage is one of my favorite herbs! The tiramisu we shared for dessert was a huge piece, and delicious."

  • "I've eaten at the Tosa location, but thought I'd try this location for my daughter's birthday, and was very disappointed. Our server talked way too long telling personal stories. We had to ask another employee to ask our server for the check. He did greet us when we first arrived, using our last name, which was very personable. But then other than wishing my daughter 'happy birthday' there was no other recognition. I would have expected some kind of complimentary dessert brought out with a candle on it - even a scoop of ice cream would have been a nice finish to our evening out. This, along with the food quality, makes me feel that I would definitely not go out of my way to eat here again, sadly."

  • "All the street-facing windows in the restaurant are covered by signs with the name of the restaurant. Diners inside cannot see out, people on the outside cannot see in. Removing the signs would make it look more inviting inside and out. The dining experience was very pleasant. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. One of the other waiters, not ours, serenaded our table. I would definitely attend this Il Mito location again."

  • "Have eaten dinner here three times, plus several meals at the old Il Mito and lunch at the Tosa location. Never had a meal that was not superb. Chef Fokker does a great job of ensuring consistent quality and innovation. The shrimp mashed potatoes were unique. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Wait staff knowledgable and great personality. Only complaint is that the organization seems to think that the world is on Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook account, you cannot sign up for some of their special offers/giveaways. Some of us do not live in a digital world."

The calamari was delicious (not too breaded), the fish of the day was also a very good choice and their twist on the classic caesar salad was refreshing. Would highly recommend the osso bucco. "

  • "We had been to Il Mito quite a few times several years ago at it's old location, but we had never been to the new location. We had brunch there on Easter and it was fantastic. The food was so flavorful and the menu had lots of choices that you don't find at the typical brunch spots. We also really enjoyed the bloody mary bar. The service was excellent -- everyone was very friendly and made sure we had a great experience. We will definitely be back for dinner soon! If you're going for brunch, try the Argentinian empanadas. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Stopped by on Saturday night as we were going to be downtown. This is the first time we've been to the East location as we love Tosa's ambiance. Pluses: great food and cocktails, quick seating (lots of empty tables for 7:30 Sat), our waiter was good, food was reasonably priced Cons: a table next to us had a diner that had a drink poured down his back by the waitstaff, the drinks (martini) was a little pricey, ambiance wasn't as cozy as Tosa, bathrooms are a hike through the hotel lobby. Overall, great food, but think I'll stick with the Tosa location."

  • "A group of 4 went out on a rainy Friday night. We were pleased to find a quiet restaurant about half full. We started with a few cocktails, which were all excellent. The bartender uses quality liquor and made each drink perfectly... from the dirty martini to the brandy old fashioned. Everyone also enjoyed their meals very much. I had the gnocchi, and although I probably could've eaten twice as much food (because it was so good!!!) it was the perfect amount. Our waiter was wonderful as well. He knew the dishes very well, could make suggestions, and was just a very nice person overall. I would go back here any time, and plan to."

Wine list interesting but most not available for tasting so we went for the familiar instead of trying something new Only quibble is the banquet seating is covered in a micro suede fabric that made skidding in and out wearing a skirt clumsy."

  • "Having lived in Milwaukee 30 years ago as i walked into IL Mito is was pleasant memories revisited as the former location of Sally's Steakhouse. The atmosphere has not changed nor the long winding bar to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. The food did not dissappoint from the calamri appetizer to the main courses. Everyone at the table tried something differnt andf we were all very pleased with our choices. Service was very good and our waiter was well versed on the menu."

  • "We had a reservation thru open table for last Saturday night and when we arrived at the Il Mito East 15 minutes early we found a note on the door stating that due to a fire in the basement they were closed. This was the weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament in Milwaukee and all others restaurants were booked up. They should have called each person that had a reservation so that plans could have been changed to places outside of metro Milwaukee......not very good customer service IMHO"

  • "I have lunched several times at the West location and I was excited to dine our party of six for dinner. We were promptly seated and we had good service. The eggplant rollups had very bland sauce with tasteless melted cheese filling. The insalata calabrese was well done. Our amberjack entrees were well cooked but over a tasteless leek preparation sided with almost raw cauliflower with a balsamic drizzle and ice cold sweet potatoe purée. The squash ravioli were tasty but greasy. The turkey cutlet entree was enjoyed. Overall this was very disappointing and not up to chef Fekker's usual standards."

  • "Newly diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity, I was thrilled to hear via Facebook, about Il Mito East's offering of a GF fish fry. It was pricey at $23 but did include a huge scallop and prawns, all breaded in a light GF coating. It was tasty in spite of the GF coating. I did enjoy the three small GF biscuits and the wonderful garlic sauce. The creme brûlée was the best I have ever had. Ask for Louis for your server. He is delightful and most amusing. We will be back to try their add'l GF offerings."
