Il GattopardoIl Gattopardo is a classicIl Gattopardo is a classic NY restaurant. Professional service from the door to dessert. The food is simply delicious and wonderfully presented. The great wines enhance the dining and the terrific personalities of the entire staff bring great richness to the restaurant.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Il Gattopardo is an excellent restaurant. The food was great and the service was excellent! The chef brought out a special dish for every table.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMperfectA native NYC client of mine recommended this spot and it was fantastic in all respects. At another friend's suggestion we had a cocktail at The Modern (great bar at MOMA) and then made the short stroll to Il Gattopardo. If you are looking for something quaint and reasonably priced you need to give this spot a try.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Italian fare in NYCThe homemade spaghetti with veal and porcini was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in NYC. Service was great and the restaurant seems to be a favorite among well-to-do locals living nearby. I would definitely recommend Il Gattopardo for a beautiful Italian meal in the city.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery small, so quiet it'sVery small, so quiet it's not, but the food & service were excellent. Also, very busy & staff made every effort to honor our reservation time.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood artistry! If you want to impress your palate and your date, this is the place. Excellent service with dining manners. A gift to yourself to dine with them.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat NYC FindReally enjoyed this little NYC restaurant. The food was excellent and the ambiance was pure New York, a little loud, a little crowded, a bit fast but still fun. My wife and I each had seafood dishes. Both were excellent and we both commented that although the dishes were similar (mixed seafood, hers over pasta, mine a "stew") the tastes were each very different. My only regret was all the bread I ate trying to sop up every last bit of sauce! Highly recommended.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey but a class experiencePricey but a class experience all the way. Food was delicious and served in ample portions. Service was impeccable. A nice find near to the Theaer District and Lincoln Center. I will return.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal! I had theExcellent meal! I had the turbot,my husband ate the pasta/lobster special and our friend ate the lamb chops. Everyone cleaned their plate and no offers to share. Desserts delicious too!
I know the restaurant is a row house but my seat was jostled a few times by passerbys. I'll request table in back of house for future visits.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian on a high noteIl Gattopardo is a favorite with us and we go every time we are in New York; last week was our fourth visit. It's a perfect pre-theatre restaurant, if that's what you have planned, or simply a wonderful place to have a very special authentic Italian meal. With white tablecloths, this smaller restaurant is polished, yet friendly, and the food is beautifully prepared. There is an excellent wine list of Italian wines and the servers are helpful with recommendations. We always have a wonderful time and a superb dining experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNice local spotLove this place, it's fun, great menu choices, always good service. Will definitely go back again5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibly great food & serviceFresh, excellent tasting dishes, served hot or cold as intended for the dish. Well staffed with attentive waiters. Great menu, somewhat more limited wine list. The only down side is the long narrow shape of the restaurant. Try to avoid sitting between the kitchen and the rear seating area of the restaurant as you are in a very BUSY hallway. That's where my wife and I were seated, across from another couple with waiters zipping by constantly. Focus on the food and your dining partner and its OK. But better if you have a larger party of 4 or more to sit in the front or rear of the restaurant. We would return again because of the food and the very excellent service even if we have to dine in the hallway again.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAl Fresco with a See-through RoofExcellent menu, dishes skillfully prepared, served with skill. Highly recommended for a taste if northern Italian cooking in New York.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMService excellentWonderful italian food complemented by awesome service.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely wonderful; The food was absolutely wonderful; will definitely be going back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and pofessionalGreat food and pofessional service. Pasta is outstanding as is Branzino and Dover Sole.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMpre-theatre or after MOMAThis is my second time at Il Gattopardo in four weeks. The food is wonderful - the Bronzino, salads, soups, wine, both times were before heading to the theatre. I highly recommend it. The waiters and wait staff were lovely and took good care of us. The Cherry Blossom branches placed high in vases on the walls in the glassed in back room, and overhead made the room very festive and special looking. We had a very private and quiet table for three in the back that was perfect. We will come back again and again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, nice atmosphereService however was kind of rude, server walked away while I was speaking with him to fill someone's wine glass.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways A TreatThis is one of the first places we plan to have dinner when visiting NYC. The menu choices are interesting and well executed. Not overly fussy, but unique and of the best quality. While usually packed, the ambience has a calm modern elegance and we always feel like it is a special occasion when dining here. We have never been disappointed and trust the staff recommendations.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were recommended this restaurantWe were recommended this restaurant by our hotel when visited New York last year and enjoyed it so much that we wanted to return this time and were not disappointed . The service was excellent even. If the waiters New York Italian left understanding the specials a bit difficult but overall we had a great meal. The wine list was good and the waiter was helpful in choosing an appropriate wine given our liking for very dry whites within our budget.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe way service should beGattopardo was very impressive. Great food and impeccable service. All courses were served with great attention to detail. Staff were great at serving us well throughout the dinner. A great find!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was outstanding.Food and service was outstanding. Table for 2 was very cramped but relatively typical for NYC. Congested space certainly worth bearing for the food and service experience.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst class experience, allFirst class experience, all the way. Impeccable service, terrific food. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat italian good. Good quality.Great italian good. Good quality. The burrata was great.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit cramped, but overallA bit cramped, but overall an excellent experience. Lovely ambiance, fantastic food, and excellent waitstaff. I would definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile they say us at the frontWhile they say us at the front door while the rest of the place including the beautiful back room Rendines empty, the service and food were on point.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful (but pricy) lunch,Wonderful (but pricy) lunch, directly across from MOMA. Really excellent wines by the glass!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLocation is prime, walkingLocation is prime, walking distance to Rock Center, MOMA, great shopping. Eggplant and ricotta cakes appetizer was delicious. Veal scallopine was very good, but not extraordinary. Red house wine, Sangiovese, was a perfect accompaniment to dinner. Over all, a very nice experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic; selectionThe food was fantastic; selection very extensive. The waiter and managerial staff were great(however, waiter went through the specials very quickly). All dishes for each of us were served at the same time. As we experienced the last time we were there, the tables are a little cramped and there were several times when my chair was hit (even though they apologized, it still happened; I guess a minor inconvenience with a small, narrow brownstone). Even though we were sitting about 6 tables from the door, once the door was opened, we felt it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBranzino was excellent, vealBranzino was excellent, veal scaloppine also. Starter of tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciutto and crisp bread was lovely. Recommended wine complimented our meals. Attentive and friendly staff. Very quiet for pre-theater dinner but restaurant was near full when we departed.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy bronzino (sp?) was sensational. My bronzino (sp?) was sensational. But the noise was so awful that we could barely hear our interesting guest, who had so much we wanted to hear, but couldn't. How can you baffle? Service was excellent, friendly, and prompt.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fish of the day is alwaysThe fish of the day is always fresh, the waiters are always helpful.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough both the food andAlthough both the food and service were excellent, the restaurant was so noisy that I will never return (unless i's warm enough to take an outside table). A real pity!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant has a niceThe restaurant has a nice atmosphere and excellent food. Not overly expensive by New York standards with appropriate size portions. I have had dinner there three times with family and everyone enjoyed it. The service on each occasion was outstanding. I highly recommend Il Gattopardo.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Date SpotSo glad we stumbled across this fantastic find! It's far enough off the beaten path to give it a very intimate feel. A nice respite from the craziness of nearby Times Square. We came here after Top of the Rock and it completed our evening. The service was on-point and the food was exactly what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant in New York - delicious! Highly recommend the Parmesan zucchini and the specialty risotto. Thank you for an amazing dinner!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the past 5 years I haveFor the past 5 years I have been visiting New York and eating in Gatopardo is a must! Since you arrive you feel like visiting your best friend house. Service starts from taking your coats until leaving. Without being intrusive waiters are always aware of what's happening in your table. Eventhough is not a big restaurant this adds to it , giving a romantic touch. The best of all is the food. Best Branzino in town!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Gatopardo never disappoints.Il Gatopardo never disappoints. Food, service, ambience always perfect.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic service, amazingFantastic service, amazing culinary experience, great wine selection, and truly Italian!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience !!!!It's a very cozy and comfortable place to dine!!! The Arancini they give out upon arrival were a nice touch as well as tasty. The appetizer part of the menu was awesome and hard to choose from. The risotto was perfectly cooked which is hard to do. My fish of the day was delicate and flavorful. My husband had the veal and was not terribly impressed just average. The wine prices were fare for a midtown restaurant. I had cheese to finish our wine and my husband had some chocolate concoction that looked and tasted awesome. All in all we would go back!!!!!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
