The new location is fine, but I found the decor to be rather bland. It was mostly an older crowd in attendance. Octopus salad was delicious as was the fish stew. My dinner companion ordered the scialatielli with shellfish ragout and was underwhelmed. The passionfruit semifreddo was good, but rather straightforward and uninspired. If you happen to be at the Moma and are looking for a good nearby Italian spot, Il Gattopardo is a decent option. You may be better off going to eat at The Modern in terms of ambience, cocktail options, and possibly food.

You've got to look hard for this rare gem of a restaurant but once you find it you won't want to leave. Excellent but unpretentious food and service. Pricey (the bill for two including tip was $250) but worth every penny! We will be back!

After reviewing all those glowing reports I decided to make reservation for lunch.Restaurant is in the souterrain in what I guess once was Rockefeller mansion,it's on two levels, the upper one I believe is either for dinner and/or corporate events and the lower one is for lunch. When you enter and take your seat at the table you do feel you are in a cellar. It's dark, uninviting, the walls painted in dark, drab colours.Service was very good, but I must add there were only four or five tables that were occupied.Food was average,I had mussels for an appetizer and broiled wild bass.Good but nothing special. For dessert, chocolate souffle and two glasses of white wine-neither names known to me,one from Friulia and the other from Abruzzo, quite nice.

The service at this restaurant is the best I remember anywhere, and the food is outstanding. However, if you're an iced tea drinking Southerner, forget it. When our bill came, we had been charged $5.00 for our (mostly ice) teas and $5.00 for each refill (also mostly ice), of which there were several. Completely ruined the experience for us.

We went for brunch on Sunday and were delighted to find that you can order off of the regular menu also. Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. Prices are reasonable for midtown Manhattan. We were delighted to find out that they have opened a sister restaurant in the former Café des Artistes space which we will try next time.

We dinner here after being audience members at Late Night with David Letterman. It's less than a half mile from the Ed Sullivan Theater. We felt a bit under-dressed, however, walking in wearing jeans - it seemed all the men were in jackets or jackets and ties. Wait staff wore bow ties. We were led around to a table near the kitchen, passing many empty tables on the way - I was convinced it was because we were dressed too casually, despite the fact that nowhere on Gattopardo's website is there mention of a dress code. On their website, though, there is reference to the restaurant's "upscale clientele." Maybe that should have been the hint. Our waiter was lovely, gracious, friendly. Food was INCREDIBLE! Treat yourself to Gattopardo!

Recently stayed in Midtown NYC and was looking for a good restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Fantastic!! Our party was warmly greeted and seated in the atrium away from all the hustle & bustle and noise. The service was very attentive and our waiter helped us make what turned out to be perfect choices. The appetizers were all delicious. Parmigiana of zucchini, tomato & cucumber salad, frisée and soup of the day were all delicious. The waiter recommended both the meatloaf and the lasagna and neither disappointed. The risotto of the day was to die for and the seafood medley was devoured. The wine menu had some excellent choices at reasonable prices. An excellent midtown choice.

Walked by the restaurant one day and decided to check it out online. Reviews were very positive so we made a reservation for lunch last week. Glad we did. All dishes were excellent. A very nice lunch menu in a very pleasant setting. Service was awesome, the wait staff took great care of us. We had a nice table downstairs in the back in the "outdoor" area. Will definitely go back.

We walked 5 minutes from London hotel, and were greeted with 1 pleasant surprise after another. I had meat loaf, cooked to perfection on top of light but creamy mashed potatoes and lightly sautéed garlic spinach. Baked to the perfect temperature with veal, beef and I believe a poached egg inside for a light reminder of much needed protein, I cannot speak highly enough about it. There was love in this meal. My GF had the rigatoni pasta, and we shared each other's dishes not able to decide which was the most outstanding. The spicy anduja sausage and sweet onions sauce was a taste I'll never forget. A short half-sized al dente noodle and again, served at a temperature that is just right for enjoying, it was a delight to the last bite.

I've been coming to Il Gattopardo for years, and in the time since they've relocated down the block to the beautiful space which formerly housed Aquavit, their food has gone from very good to superb. All of the pastas are particularly wonderful (especially the Spaghetti with Bottarga, Mezze with Spicy Sausage, and the Straccetti with Rabbit), but you also won't be disappointed by such proteins as a piquant lemon and rosemary grilled chicken, a superbly savory pork chop, or their famous whole fish of the day, fileted tableside. The staff is warm, welcoming, and efficient; the crowd, grown up and sophisticated. Most worthwhile for a weekday business lunch; a leisurely weekend brunch before or after visiting MoMA; or a splendid dinner anytime.

Il Gattopardo has always been at or near the top of our list of go-to restaurants in NYC; however, our previous visit after the move to their new location was not encouraging (see previous review). This time, they clearly had their act together. Service was great, and the food was, again, the big draw. I had a veal-stuffed ravioli in a fresh tomato sauce that was absolute perfection -- light as air. Il Gattopardo has regained its spot on our go-to list. Bravi tutti.

The room was very attractive and the downstairs would be great for a special party. The service was terrific. We were early because we were going to the theater and everyone was very attentive. For the price, the food was mediocre. I have veal scallopine. I am certain the veal was of high quality but covered with a tasteless tomato sauce and served with tasteless greens, it was disappointing. My two guests loved the chocolate soufflés they had for dessert. I would not recommend Gattopardo.
