After 12 years at Il Gattopardo’s original location, is with joy that we welcome you to The Rockefeller Townhouses, our new home at 13-15 West 54th Street. In the new house, Il Gattopardo gains an intimate bar space and a marvelous private event room with capacity up to 120 seats. The main dining room has been designed to translate our vision of comfort, modernity, but above all, simplicity, and to keep alive Il Gattopardo’s understated elegance.

  • "Following a Wednesday matinee, my friends and I dined at Il Gattopardo. It was wonderful experience. The staff was very welcoming and provided exceptional service all evening. Upon completing each course, every plate was clean as we used our bread to wipe up every remaining morsel. I had the eggplant/ricotta cake appetizer which was crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. We all dipped into our friend's broth from her steamed mussels. Delicious. A beautifully cooked and presented branzino graced the table. The waiter even made sure we each had a tasting of one of our party's pasta with lobster sauce. Looking forward to a return visit!"

  • "Il Gattopardo came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The hostess and waiters greeted us warmly, and we never felt rushed or crowded. We enjoyed the tiny bites, compliments of the chef, and appreciated the plate sharing. The branzino special, deboned by the maitre d' was perfectly prepared. The broccoli rabe provided just the right balance to the fish. The burrata cheese starter, also a special, was delicate and flavorful, and presented well with sauteed peppers and cherry tomatoes, with just the right accompaniment of olive oil and herbs. I enjoyed the texture and flavor of the zabaione and berries to finish the meal. It was the perfect venue for a lovely meal and conversation with my young adult children."

For the main course I had the Pork Chop that was excellent. My wife had the Cod and she was somewhat disappointed. The location is great, the entrance is great and the dining area was very nice."

  • "NY Magazine gave the restaurant a "critics choice" endorsement. Maybe my expectations were too high! The meatballs wrapped in cabbage - they were just okay. I had the swordfish special - overcooked - the broccoli rabe was over cooked and very salty- the potato puree was reallllyyy runny. My friend ordered a spicy pasta with chorizo sausage which was average. The "gift from the chef" appetizer was a rice ball - dry and flavorless - and a slice of spinach roll - bland and dry. For dessert we had the berries with zabagione - the berries were sweet and fresh but the zabagione was more of a meringue and very strong marsala flavor. It is a convenient spot to eat before a show at Radio City - but I would try another place next time."

  • "The food and service are consistently outstanding. I'm not a star f*'er but every time I eat there, there is some celebrity a couple of tables away. One more thing that shows the difference between NY and L.A., because on the west coast, that is usually the sign of a BAD restaurant. It's cool, because it always impresses the friends that I bring. There is also a very beautiful space downstairs that you can rent out for parties. It is in a courtyard of a building, so it has that 5-story-atrium feel. I can't wait until I have some special occasion and can put it on there!"

I made a reservation, I arrived on time and I was seated in a freezing corner where I couldn't even see any other diners. The table wasn't even set for one. With a reservation at this level, I expect the table to be waiting. I had the octopus salad and the rabbit ragu with pasta. Both were adequate but not particularly flavorful. I am sure a table full of companions would have made it more enjoyable. The wine that I had by the glass was quite good. In the new restaurant, there is a bar area and that is probably where I should have eaten."

  • "Beautiful place. Fantastic service My guest and I shared a pasta to start, which they r willing to do half portions. It was the genovese sauce,which is pork shoulder cooked for hours, and made into a simple oil based sauce.The pasta was perfectly Al dente and delicious and flavorful. My guest had the fish special, branzinno,which was very good. I had their version of ciopinno.the sauce was a tad too thin & just a hair too fishy. One or 2 of the mussels were questionable, other seafood and fish were good. It would not b a dish I would re-order, however there were many I would love to try.The mousse cake with the coffee gelato was outstanding. Overall a good meal, served with love and a great attitude. PS great bread and olive oil as well."

  • "I'd been to Il Gatto... once before in its old location. The newer location is larger, but you're still in someone's English basement. The decor is minimalist, consisting of a large dining room with a less spacious alcove. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was very good. I had a cod in a casserole with olives, tomatoes, capers and other items. It was an imaginative and flavorful creation. My spouse had mussels that she proclaimed among the best ever. The wine list is carefully chosen and wide ranging. We shared a dessert, a lemon topped mousse confection; it was a memorable standout. The prices reflect the quality of the food, the level of service and the geography. "

Food was wonderful We sat outside and noise was coming from the road and the waiter offered to move us to the other side-- which we took him up on and it was great. Perfect little garden on a beautiful day. We had salads and a starter and everything was perfect. I am really looking forward to joining again for dinner."
