Il Forno Caldo
BustlingOther than being a bit busy with very close tables, it is in a bustling area of Beverly Hills.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDoes not fit a par ticularDoes not fit a par ticular category. This neighborhood Italian has great food, warm and comfortable ambience, good service and is a warm and comfortable place to go with a friend or for a more intimate dinner.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall space, outstanding foodMy only complaint with Il Forno Caldo is that their bread and pizza crusts are just too delicious! I simply couldn't help myself and gobbled up far too much of the rich, fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside dinner loaf, and fabulous bruschetta, made extra divine with olive oil, fresh tomatoes, garlic and that incredible crust!
The place is very small and the tables are so close, they almost touch. Some might call this cramped, but I call it cozy. If you're not claustrophobic or inhibited by the possibility that your neighbors can hear your dinnertime conversation, it shouldn't be considered a problem. The food is wonderful, so that makes up for any lack of floor space.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe all felt the food was reallyWe all felt the food was really fresh, well prepared and tasty.
Service was pretty good but hard to judge as it was a relatively slow time at the restaurant.
Overall, enjoyed the visit,5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLike an Italian Trattoria!Good rustic Italian food in a setting that reminded us of a little Italian trattoria! The veal was great, as were the seafood pastas and vegetarian pastas. The kitchen is also very accommodating in making dishes without specific food allergans. Il Forno will be my new Beverly Hills lunch spot!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. Great food,Love this place. Great food, warm, European atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. The food, service, wine and atmosphere were all excellent!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMwhining about wineI liked the restaurant and will return. However, their wine program is off putting. I don't mind paying $20 for corkage, but I very much object to paying almost three times retail for any wine. If a restaurant is willing to open and serve my wine for $20 then why can't they charge retail or perhaps a few percent more for the wines they store and add $20 for the service?
They would sell a great deal more wine from their list and would still make the profit that satisfies them when I bring my own wine. By charging retail they are compensated for storing wine and by uniformly charging a corkage they will permit patrons to buy expensive wines off their list rather than the plonk they serve at the bottom. For example, a $12 Ripasso for $38.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMYou have to give it a try!Since we had a groupon deal, we decided to drive out to Beverly Hills to check out this place and we loved it! It had a down-to-earth vibe yet romantic at the same time. The wine expert (and maybe owner) was great. He made sure we were well taken care of. I'm usually a real complainer, but the service was awesome. We will definitely be back - for sure!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Forno Caldo is such a find.Il Forno Caldo is such a find.
