A word from Il Fornello - Richmond Hill
WELCOME TO il FORNELLO In Italy "pizza a legna" (wood-fired pizza) is available everywhere, but it wasn't until il FORNELLO opened their first Toronto restaurant and offered authentic, wood-fired oven baked, Neapolitan style, thin crust pizza that Torontonians were able to experience pizza the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Now there is an il FORNELLO, Italian kitchen and bar in seven neighbourhoods in the GTA (with more to come), still making the best pizza you have ever tasted and offering a delicious selection of authentic Italian antipasti, pastas, entrées and more in a welcoming environment inspired by the Italian table where you can relax, share and enjoy your meal with family and friends

IlFornello's never fails to deliver good food well prepared and presented with service focused on making every visit an experience you'll remember - until the next time. The Red Snapper was excellent, and the Pollo Asiago delighted my Princess.

I don't appreciate when you walk in to a restaurant, and the hosts and waiters are too busy having a conversation to notice you or greet you, which is I what I experienced on my visit. I also feel this restaurant is overpriced for the quality of the food.

This place was absolutely phenomenal! I had made reservations for Il Fornello a couple weeks prior to our dining. It was 6 of my other friends along with myself and it was our first experience at Il Fornello's. The ambiance and organization was perfect! The tables were well presented and prepared for our arrival. Walking into the restaurant and seeing the wood oven in plain view was of great interest. Their complimentary bread with oil and vinegar was a great touch to the dining experience. I will definitely be revisiting the Il Fornello's Richmond Hill location and possibly other locations in the near future. I thank the staff at Il Fornello for their great hospitality and service. Keep it up!

With salads, eggplant dip, pasta and pizza, this brunch offers something different in addition to traditional brunch favorites of eggs, French toast and Benedict. We were there for opening and the food was still coming out to the buffet but it was all good. Atmosphere was simpatico and so was the service. A nice variant and a satisfying brunch.

We chose the restaurant to be close to a concert in the area and the food did not disappoint it was very nice and well composed. I started with the squash salad special which was nice and was properly dressed not over done. I then had cannelloni formaggio which was very nice light and delicious. The wine menu by glass is very nice with a good choice. The portion sizes where large and my guest was albe to tek the leftovers for lunch the next day. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive

Have been to this restaurant one other time and was disappointed in the food...we decided to give it a 2nd try as the friend I was going with kept telling me how great her meals were there & I must have been on a bad day. Well, I was not disappointed, food was the same as I remember. The service was inattentive. We started the evening out with a male server who was friendly, smiled and checked on us, then he table was passed over to a female who had no personality, barely came to the table. We had to ask another server to get our bill, waited for over 5 minutes with our coats on while the female server chatted with another table and kept looking at us, not acknowledging us and letting us know she'd be right over. Disappointing night

Had a great time at the restaurant. Had a last minute issue where half of my party was unable to make it until an hour after the reservation. Got assistance from Marina (hostess) who not only assisted us with our request but was able to make things work to accommodate us. Very good service.......I would definitely go back!!!

Booked table for 8 people to celebrate father's 80th birthday. Server was great and we were seated immediately. Long wait between appetizers and mains (45 minutes). We had two kids in our party and this was torture on them. Food was ok. Nothing worth the $20+ charged per dish. Asiago Chicken had mostly spinach...very little cheese. Pasta with pesto and Pasta with tomato sauce dishes both were something we could have prepared at home. Pepperoni pizza was delicious! Great thin crust and tasty toppings. Desserts were nothing spectacular. $7 each for a tiny scoop of either vanilla or chocolate gelato. Cheesecake covered in some fruit sauce...blueberry....blackberry? Hard to tell. Won't go there again.

Il Fornello Richmond Hill is much improved from the last ime we were there 2 years ago. We were hesitant to try it again, but did because we were in the immediate area. The restaurant appears to have had a modest facelift and is much cleaner and menu is streamlined. We ordered the gniocchi and signature pizzas. The gniocchi were average, but the artichoke and prochiutto pizzas was excellent. We'll go back.

Sorry to say that our most recent (and last) experience at Il Fornello was remarkably bad. We like Italian food but the food at this location was way below par. I had rigatoni Bolognese. The rigatoni was both rubbery and hard, as if it had been cooked until dry. The meat sauce was incredibly salty, an old restaurant trick used to create "tastiness". My wife had risotto with root vegetables and chicken. The chicken was tasteless and the root vegetables consisted of 9 tiny pieces of carrot. When the server - who was friendly and efficient - asked how the meals were we had to tell her. The manager admitted that the food comes from a head office supplier and she agreed the "root vegetables" were pretty spartan. The bill was reduced.

We've been to this location many times over the past 10+ years. And we won't be going back. The pasta dish we ordered was bland, and the "special" Italian seafood stew was not worth the $26 they were charging (in terms of portion size and flavour). A generally very underwhelming experience.

The weekend brunch at Il Fornello is a good value. Options included soup, salad, pizza, bacon, eggs, french toast, pasta, chicken, and fresh fruit. While the selection was good, my main complaint is that the food was lukewarm or cold (for example, the scrambled eggs). Some items, such as the eggs Benedict and french toast, appeared to be sitting there for too long. Also missing was dessert, with only fruit available. Members of our group who ordered off the menu seemed to enjoy their meals more. Next time, I will skip the brunch and order off the menu.

Went with a group of friends for Mommy's night out. Surprised that they close at 10 on a Friday night as we were excited to finally stay out "late" away from the babies. They let us sit around until midnight though so that was kind of them. There were several other tables with groups hanging out too so maybe time to rethink closing hours on a Friday?

Il Fornello is a well-located neighbourhood restaurant with great ambience. Based on feedback on the dinner menu however, the Easter Sunday brunch was a disappointment. Soup, salads and fruit were good choices, but the hot food was lukewarm and the meat, including chicken, was tough or rubbery. A more successful outing could have been had by ordering from the lunch menu and having the food cooked to order.
