Il Fornello on KingWe are pretty regular dinnersWe are pretty regular dinners here because of the proximity to Roy Thompson Hall. It is probably the healthiest and reasonably priced for the neighborhood. Hostess always nice reception.
Two quibbles,
(1)when 6 of us order the same fish dish there seems to be no potion control - we get all different sizes and weight. This has happened more than once.
(2)since we do eat here and at the Bayview Village location we would really enjoy greater additions to the menu. It seems to be the same for months on end. It could drive us to somewhere else just for the variety.11/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a busy night with anIt was a busy night with an event being on at Roy Thomson Hall and a very large corporate group dining (50 people) in the restaurant. I made a reservation. When I arrived they wanted to seat us at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. I dislike sitting near a busy open kitchen and asked for a table closer to the front. They accommodated me and placed us at a great table. We had a nice meal and had a great waiter. When I went to the washroom and saw where they had wanted to place us I was shocked. It was in the nastiest spot ever. Kitchen staff and anyone going to the washrooms would have moved by our table. My only suggestion would be to never sit anyone in those back tables. We did not feel rushed and the food was yummy. The waiter was sensitive to the fact that we were discussing business issues and waited to interupt us to take the order and deliver the food. The set price menu made ordering easy with the fair pricing and we ended up with a tasty meal. The wood oven pizza was a hit amongst our group. They were surprisingly large, even after ordering from the set menu. Most of us were able to pack up our leftovers to enjoy again later. It was a great location and we sat in an area with a great city view. The service was quick, we were always refreshed with water. I liked that the servers waited until we were done our appetizers before giving us our main. That time in between is essential.
