  • "Dined after a long absence and will be another long absence before I dine there again. Caesar salad below fair, pasta w/vodka equally fair. Best I can give Il Fornaio very pleasant atmosphere, great bread (don't pay those prices for bread) and trained staff. From my last experience I do not recommend Il Fornaio."

  • "We are regular diners at this restaurant. Usually for the Winemaker dinners where Mitch creatively chooses entrees to go with a guest vintner. Go to their website to sign up for special announcements. During July they offered us no corkage fee for up to 2 bottles of wine from your own cellar. The five of us all ordered different traditional Italian entrees from Seafood, Chicken and Beef and had a wonderful time enjoying each others company with fine food and wine. I would have rated the food excellent if there were less herb and salt seasoning, but this was a minor degrade as we had such a good time and service. We love to support good restaurants that permit bringing in your own wine without a corkage fee. Normally it is $20 here."

  • "We have had delicious dinners at the Capitol Mall location but the 3 entrees we had at the Roseville location were a big disappointment. We took a friend to celebrate her birthday and wanted it to be special, but we were embarrassed by the food. Since all three entrees were poor we knew it wasn't just a case of one person's taste preferences. I would not go back, our experience left "a bad taste"."

  • "Went with my daughters to celebrate Father's day. I ordered hot Chocolate, it had hardly any chocolate taste at all! It tasted like brown water. I ordered steak and eggs with the grilled onions on the side. Not only were the potatoes put on the side with the onions still in it, but they also served my steak with steak sauce on it. What kind of serious restaurant serves steak with steak sauce on it? They destroyed the steak. Three strikes. I didn't care anymore I just wanted to get out of there. Very disappointing."

  • "I have been to several Il Fornaio restaurants in California but this was my first visit to the Roseville location. It did not disappoint. Our party had their favorite dishes that we eat whenever we are at Il Fornaio whichever location it may be. The results were consistent and delicious. Il Fornaio is a chain restaurant in the best sense. The ambience and quality is first rate and consistent. I always look forward to visiting an Il Fornaio -- and Roseville did not disappoint."

  • "Il Fornaio was a great experience, from service to entrees to desserts everything was top notch couldn't have been happier with the experience. My friends and I had a blast and spent three hours enjoying food, drinks and friendship! The restaurant ambiance is Italian upscale, well decorated and enjoyable by all. Don't let this detract, but if you go during Friday or Saturday busy time (6-8:30) it is quite noisy, but with the great service and food you won't care. =) I have also been there during less busy times during the week and it is fit for romance and conversation. I give it a 10 as we all enjoyed our food and desserts and the atmosphere, great time with friends!!"

  • "We went there for the special Sicilian Festa Regionale. All 3 of us are Italian wanna-be's, having traveled in Italy many times. It was so great to see the foods of Sicily so well prepared and presented. We spent a very leisurely time there, over 2 hours, much like we would do in Italy. Our server was so attentive without being intrusive. But back to the food.....absolutely marvelous. I have never been disappointed with Il Fornaio. Although it is a chain restaurant, the chefs of each restaurant, as well as the Master chef, take great pride and care in preparing the menu and the food. It is my local go-to place for Italian cuisine."

  • "My friend and I really enjoyed our dinner at Il Fornaio the other night. Service and timing of bringing courses to the table were perfect. We enjoyed everything. We both ordered the lamb chops and found them to be very heavy on the salt. Overall, a lovely restaurant with great service."

  • "Our party of ten was quickly seated by a very efficient and friendly hostess. Our waiter was attentive, but needs more polish and training on the nuances of serving (and selling) wine. We ordered two bottles of wine for the table, and some of our party had ordered non-alcoholic drinks, which were delivered before the wine. After the wine was initially served to those who wanted it, he placed the bottles in an ice bucket and did not refill the wine drinkers' empty glasses for a long time...my husband eventually got up and refilled the glasses himself. You missed an opportunity to sell additional wine. But the food was very good, as always. "

  • "The appetizers came with salads. The Caesar salad did not have dressing! Two selected entrées were not available. Waiter was very slow to respond. Table water, when specifically asked for was not delivered until the second request. Lamb was good but only warm, not hot. Pasta was room temperature. My third attempt to bring clients to this restaurant. Each occasion, except for the check in, was simply a huge disappointment. Wait staff are a disaster!"

  • "I came here for a friends birthday, got seated at a table where all the people usually walk (ask for a more private place it will be very romantic and no disruptions). It's a bit too pricey for the amount of food you get on your plate. I had the lasagna... I heard that a lot of people liked it, but my personal opinion is that it was not so good :/ it was a bit too soggy for my taste and leave an after taste in your mouth, i would not recommend taking the lasagna... my friend took the beef and said that its the best beef she ever tried! the service is very good there!they really look to please and are very helpful! overall it is a very great place to go on special occasions very romantic and the food is all italian so definitely try it out!"

  • "Recent Sunday brunch visit to Il Fornaio in Roseville was top notch as usual! Prompt greeting - excellent table selection - even after moving from inside to beautiful outdoor patio area. Attentive professional pleasant staff - excellent menu options (not your run-of-the-mill usual brunch selection) quick hot food delivery with frequent, yet unobtrusive staff always at the ready. Wonderful time - wonderful visit yet again. I've been going to this location since it opened many years ago (at least 10 years??) and it's always worth the time and the money to go. Wonderful place to eat great food and relax with great service. "

  • "We were seated by a hostess that barely looked up at us, never smiled and barely spoke. We watched her seat several other tables the same way. We were given a table that a door opened into so we asked to love across the aisle and then we totally ignored for 25 minutes. When water finally arrived the we had to ask the bus boy to find a waiter. We ordered our appetizer only bc we weren't sure we'd stay. The server actually ended up doing a nice job but it was not a good start. My husband's soup arrived cold, the waiter switched it for the other type (served luke warm) the ceasar salad dressing was oily not creamy. The cannelloni didn't have much flavor, even my teenager thought it was bland. Had to ask for water constantly. "

  • "My husband and I had dinner at El Fornio at the Galleria for his birthday. When I made the reservation I indicated I would like a quiet table. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we would like to be seated on the patio and escorted us to a quiet table tucked away in a corner. Our waiter was a young man who we learned later from the manager had only been waiting tables for a short time. He was excellent. He knew the menu, gave us great suggestions, watered down my ice tea to just the way I like it, was pleasant without being intrusive, and checked on us just the right number of times. The food was delicious and very well presented. AND the tab was quite a bit less than anticipated(no chrage for splitting a meal). We will definitely return."

  • "The waitress we had, Anne, was awesome, very accommodating, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive! The food was excellent. Only downside was that our drinks from the bar did not arrive until after we got our food. Apparently only one bartender was on staff for Mothers Day! Not a good move on the restaurants part for this occasion!"

  • "Although we made online reservations, we still had to wait at least 30 minutes for our table. We were offered a drink about 20 minutes into our wait. That helped. The restaurant was extremely busy and it was difficult to hear a conversation at our own table. The food was excellent. Next time, we will not go at 6:30 on a Saturday night----will have an early dinner to avoid the crowds and wait. "

  • "I took my girlfriend there for a birthday lunch. Because it was a special occasion, I had made reservations requesting a private table. When we arrived, we were given a choice of either a table located in the dining room, behind the front desk, or in the room adjacent to it. My girlfriend chose the room next to the dining area, which wasn't very private. After we sat down, we noticed that the chairs were very hard and uncomfortable, somewhat like patio chairs without cushions. As for ambience and privacy, the restaurant's phone was constantly ringing and the people next to us were extremely loud. However, our server was outstanding. The bread was delicious and the ravioli I had was okay. All in all it was an okay lunch. "

  • "I was surprised when it took awhile to get seated and a long time to get served our drinks and then our food. We had to wait 10-15 minutes, not because the hostesses were waiting for a table for us, but for just menus. The food was very good, save for 2 things. One entree item was not as it appeared on the menu (waffle with fruit - significantly less fruit than pictured) and the minestrone was bland. The soup was served at the same time as my entree and, thus, it was cold by the time I was finished with my soup. The waitress was very nice and very accommodating for our larger group and that was appreciated. Overall, in comparison to another Il Fornaio (Burlingame, CA) that I go to, this one was just okay. "

  • "This is usually very good. However, this is the second holiday fail. Our whole section was waiting for food for a LONG time. When our food finally came, I didn't get what I ordered and the food was cold. I wasn't going to wait another hour. Our wait person took care of us. Comping us a drink and a dessert. The kitchen was way off though... This was Easter. We had one bad meal on a Thanksgiving once too. Normally we have great meal here. My conclusion is that they don't know how to do holidays... "

  • "I ordered the white bean soup. It had soggy vegetables (esp the potatoes, were water-logged), virtually no flavor, and the beans, oddly enough were a touch undercooked. Very strange. The carpaccio was Very good, I like the greens and the meat was paper thin, very nice. Dining mates had IDENTICAL pasta dishes, but they looked entirely different, for reasons we could not figure out. Bread was good. All in all, very overpriced for the quality of food. Not returning."
