A word from Il Fornaio - Las Vegas

Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers.

We were looking for a resturant off the strip. We were very happy with the wait staff, all who waited on us, there were several, but all were very helpful and really seemed to want us to enjoy this place. I know this review is about dining experiences, however I must say that they Probably have cleanest washrooms i've ever encountered. Overall, a great experience, food, drinks and great service.

I ordered the spinach and prawn salad, first was given the wrong salad, then given the "correct" one, which was spinach and shrimp, not prawns. We were in a hurry to get to a Cirque du Soleil show so I didn't say anything. Our server also broke what sounded like glasses hitting the floor. When I asked about their best wine (thinking maybe I'll try a new chianti or something) he pointed to the Il Fornaio brand wines (I'm from wine country, no way theirs is better than the Sonoma/Napa selections on the list), clearly just self promoting so I ordered my usual. This Il Fornaio was really unimpressive. I've been to Il Fornaio in San Francisco & San Diego, both great, servers take their jobs seriously and it's a much classier ambiance than NY NY.

Great for late night dinner-open until 12am. The food is good and the portions large. The service is very good. They had a special 3 courses for $33-which is rare in Las Vegas. It is a must try.

I value excellent food service since working in the food service industry. They were attentive, yet unobtrusive, very hard to accomplish. The food was excellent also. It was quiet so you could easily visit. We sat inside the restaurant, not on the patio, which sits in the casino area of NY NY.

We were pleasantly surprised with this wonderful find! We were attending a show at the NYNY and wanted to dine close by. We have dined at many "high profile" Italian digs on the strip and will say that this joint surpasses a handful of them for quality, quantity, price and service. We ordered an appy, mains, wine and since we loved the food so much, we decided to try out the dessert, one of the best turamisu's we've had next to italy!! We would definitrly recommend Il Fornaio!! Great food, excellent service. great dining experience :)

My son ordered the price fixe meal, with salad, entree, and dessert. They ran out of the dessert he wanted (chocolate mousse), and they gave him only two choices to replace it - cheesecake (which he doesn't like) or tiramisu which he had never tired. He chose the tiramisu, and ended up not liking the coffee flavor. Instead of apologizing or taking that charge off the bill, our waitress just cleared his plate. Otherwise, she was very attentive throughout the meal. My salmon was dry, but I didn't mention it, as I didn't want to wait for another dinner to be cooked.

The food was just okay at Il Fornaio. We were hoping for some real authentic Italian food, and it was just okay. The tables were pretty close together which made for it to be less than intimate for a couple dining together. The table right next to us was a party of 6 and we felt like we were dining at their table with them. Service was adequate, but when my husband asked our server what she recommended he should order, she couldn't recommend anything specific. Very disappointing.

Spent money to take a cab to this restaurant only to have the HEAD CHEF decide what he would and would not make for me and what the costs would be. Since when does the CHEF have so much say. I wanted a piece of PAN SEARED salmon on a bed of Romaine lettuce with some tomato, cucumber and goat cheese with a side of Ranch Dressing. Is it hard? NOPE. I get it everywhere. For some reason this was the most difficult request EVER for this restaurant and $32. They brought the food out twice WRONG only to have my dining companion eat his food ALONE! SO DISAPPOINTING

Was very impressed with our experience at Il Fornaio. We came early on a Friday evening so there was no wait. We sat inside the glass which cut down the casino noise appreciably. Our server was prompt and attentive. We had the Spaghettini alla Bolognese and the Ravioli alla Lucana. Both were absolutely delicious! Full of fresh Italian flavour. However, dessert was the highlight. I had the Tiramisu which was excellent. My wife had the Affogato al Caffe; expresso over vanilla gelato; which might be the best tasting dessert we've ever had. If you like coffee, you absolutely have to try it. Overall a fantastic dining experience. Definitely ranks with the best Italian food we've had in LV. Will be back for sure.

We have been to Il Fornaio in Palo Alto many times. Always great. So when we were looking for an Italian restaurant near where we were going to a show at the MGM, we found Il Fornaio across the street at NY NY and booked it, but weren't expecting it to be as good given its location. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Excellent food, excellent service and nice patio seating made for a great meal and ready to enjoy the show.

When my neighbor found out I was going to Las Vegas he recommended Il Fornaio. The menu while not very large has a great mix and variety. As an appetizer had the caprese salad. It was tasty and fresh. For my entree had a seafood platter from the grilled section and it had a variety of seafood from salmon to calamari. All was cooked to perfection. The only negative was I was seated 'outside' which is really not outside but is in the open adjacent to the casino. So it was a bit noisy. If I had realized how distracting it would be would have requested to be seated in the dining room. As for the service it was attentive, friendly and Italian!

Reservation was at 5:45 but we arrived at 5:30 and we're seated without delay. So far so good but things went downhill from there... 1) First thing we were told was that two entres weren't available (one of which I had saw and wanted on their menu online before making a reservation) which I thought odd since it was an early dinner. 2). Ordered a salad with my entre but all entres were served before I got the salad. 3). The salmon was very disappointing. No, I would not go back.

We were a group of five, celebrating my daughters 21st birthday. We ordered the Calamaretti Fritti to start, it was not seasoned at all and therefore very, very bland. We ordered two pasta dishes off of the "specials" menu. Both were very dry, and flavorless. Where was the garlic? Where was the olive oil? For the amount of money spent I wanted the meal to be amazing. We also ordered two pasta dishes off the regular menu, Pennoni Alla Vodka (my daughter said this dish tasted as if it had been sitting around ) I DO NOT recommend Il Fornai at all. Instead go to the Irish Pub - that food was amazing!

Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Once it arrived the food was cold. Spoke to the manager about the issue. Didn't bother to apologize or explain. If anything he was trying to defend his staff. I should have known when I walked into this place at 1:30 there were only two tables with people. In the past this restaurant was always full of people. My advise to people who wanna go there...Don't!!! There are a million more great restaurants on the strip.

The restaurant's patio overlooks the gaming floor so it's noisy and smokey. The inside part of the restaurant is fine. The food is good, but if you've been to other Il Foranio locations, you will be disappointed with the frigid bread. The staff is fantastic and they will warm it up for you if you ask, but I didn't think to ask. The cocktails are good and the desserts are delicious. Maybe I'm spoiled since I generally go to the Il Fornaio in Coronado that overlooks the city and the bay.

As a frequent visitor from Los Angeles, we usually end up wanting to enjoy a nice Italian dinner. The food is good and the service is excellent. I love the ambiance too; very romantic and dimly lit. This is one of my favorite places to go when I come to Vegas. They have a great wine list and the food is more or the lighter side not the heavy cheesy greasy Italian.

Il Fornaio is not what we remembered it to be. The "outdoor" space has changed and lost some of its charm. The food is decent and the service is generally good. We consider it a good value for a Vegas strip hotel restaurant, but, now after three visits probably won't be back again.

This was a nice find. I read other reviews and was glad to see they were spot on with the "Oasis" comment. With the glass windows closed, you could not hear the crazy casino noise. Our waiter was very attentive and we loved the authentic Italian accent. The special dessert was a cannoli and it tasted just like "Noni's".
