A word from Il Fornaio - Las Vegas

Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers.

We have been to Il Fornaio in Palo Alto many times. Always great. So when we were looking for an Italian restaurant near where we were going to a show at the MGM, we found Il Fornaio across the street at NY NY and booked it, but weren't expecting it to be as good given its location. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Excellent food, excellent service and nice patio seating made for a great meal and ready to enjoy the show.

I ordered a gluten-free pasta with tomato marinara - it was simple and delicious. Quick service, cozy atmosphere. Server brought out some vegan sorbet with a candle for my birthday - nice touch :) Overal, simple and elegant. Unfussy food.

When my neighbor found out I was going to Las Vegas he recommended Il Fornaio. The menu while not very large has a great mix and variety. As an appetizer had the caprese salad. It was tasty and fresh. For my entree had a seafood platter from the grilled section and it had a variety of seafood from salmon to calamari. All was cooked to perfection. The only negative was I was seated 'outside' which is really not outside but is in the open adjacent to the casino. So it was a bit noisy. If I had realized how distracting it would be would have requested to be seated in the dining room. As for the service it was attentive, friendly and Italian!

Reservation was at 5:45 but we arrived at 5:30 and we're seated without delay. So far so good but things went downhill from there... 1) First thing we were told was that two entres weren't available (one of which I had saw and wanted on their menu online before making a reservation) which I thought odd since it was an early dinner. 2). Ordered a salad with my entre but all entres were served before I got the salad. 3). The salmon was very disappointing. No, I would not go back.

We were a group of five, celebrating my daughters 21st birthday. We ordered the Calamaretti Fritti to start, it was not seasoned at all and therefore very, very bland. We ordered two pasta dishes off of the "specials" menu. Both were very dry, and flavorless. Where was the garlic? Where was the olive oil? For the amount of money spent I wanted the meal to be amazing. We also ordered two pasta dishes off the regular menu, Pennoni Alla Vodka (my daughter said this dish tasted as if it had been sitting around ) I DO NOT recommend Il Fornai at all. Instead go to the Irish Pub - that food was amazing!

Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Once it arrived the food was cold. Spoke to the manager about the issue. Didn't bother to apologize or explain. If anything he was trying to defend his staff. I should have known when I walked into this place at 1:30 there were only two tables with people. In the past this restaurant was always full of people. My advise to people who wanna go there...Don't!!! There are a million more great restaurants on the strip.

We love this restaurant. The four cheese omelet is delicious. We also had a side of bacon and mimosas. Our waiter, Jason, was fabulous. We went two days in a row and requested to sit in his area. He remembered us and our order.

Made reservations via my iPad, easy and convenient! Seating was good and our waiter, (female) was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our food, good menu. No one rushed us, it was a great leisurely time to catch up with our friend who was visiting from out of town. We just moved here permanently and look forward to future visits to your restaurant. The restaurant's patio overlooks the gaming floor so it's noisy and smokey. The inside part of the restaurant is fine. The food is good, but if you've been to other Il Foranio locations, you will be disappointed with the frigid bread. The staff is fantastic and they will warm it up for you if you ask, but I didn't think to ask. The cocktails are good and the desserts are delicious. Maybe I'm spoiled since I generally go to the Il Fornaio in Coronado that overlooks the city and the bay.

As a frequent visitor from Los Angeles, we usually end up wanting to enjoy a nice Italian dinner. The food is good and the service is excellent. I love the ambiance too; very romantic and dimly lit. This is one of my favorite places to go when I come to Vegas. They have a great wine list and the food is more or the lighter side not the heavy cheesy greasy Italian.

Il Fornaio is not what we remembered it to be. The "outdoor" space has changed and lost some of its charm. The food is decent and the service is generally good. We consider it a good value for a Vegas strip hotel restaurant, but, now after three visits probably won't be back again.

This was a nice find. I read other reviews and was glad to see they were spot on with the "Oasis" comment. With the glass windows closed, you could not hear the crazy casino noise. Our waiter was very attentive and we loved the authentic Italian accent. The special dessert was a cannoli and it tasted just like "Noni's".

Wanted some great Italian food and Il Fornaio was good enough. Was expecting the food to blow me away but came out satisfied. I would definitely go back but probably sit inside instead of out near casino. If you are in the NYNY hotel and want Italian, I would recommend it but if you are willing to go out of the hotel then there may be other places on the strip worth checking out.

We have eaten at the Las Vegas Il Fornaio every time we have visited Vegas. The food is very good. They have changed some things with ambiance, not for the better. There used to be a river along side the outdoor seating with a bridge for access. That created a much better separation from the people traffic in the casino.

I enjoyed Il Fornaio for dinner. Service was great and while it was pretty loud being smack in the middle of the casino, I would definitely go back. They were out of the dish that my friend wanted to order but her second choice (pasta with seafood) was delicious. I ordered one of their wood-fired pizzas and it was really good. All in all, a good experience.
