  • "The monthly regional tasting menu at Il Fornaio is fabulous. This month's region, Puglia, featured an appetizer, 1st and 2nd course seafood choices. Two of us had all 3 and we were more than delighted with the presentation, preparation, and taste. Two others had the lamb chops, perfectly cooked. Plenty of food. All good. We love the ambience. We opted to eat outside on this visit and it was very quiet and more conducive to conversation. The monthly artisan cocktail was especially good, too. We look forward to our monthly visit and we are never disappointed."

  • "We had talked about going here for years and finally did. I had a reservation and when I checked in at the hostess stand, the young lady just said okay. Never said if table was ready, if it would be a few. I finally asked and she kind of ignored me again. Then I said, it has been 30 minutes, I had a reservation why dont I have a table or at least an explanation. She sort of huffed and sat us like she was doing us a favor. I hoped the food would be good at least. Our actual server was terrific but the food was horrible. There was nothing special about it and we simply just will never go back. There are too many other good italian restaurants around with far better service and exceptional food."

  • "thos was my first time going here and I really liked it. I thought it would be a lot nicer so I tried to dress pretty formal, but when I go there I saw some people with shorts and sandals and others in suits. The food was nice, even though my pasta had maybe a whole garlic in it. My waiter constantly came to check on us, but we didn't have much to say. The dessert menu has a lot of bariety and they explain everything to you in detail. I ended up getting the Bellini sorbet and it was delicious! Dessert was the thing that took the longest to arrive, but it was okay. I got the check from Who I believe was the manager and he validated my ticket also. It was a nice first experience!"

A nice group of servers & employees help to keep this restaurant going. The wine list is weak at best. The menu is not that inviting but what we ordered was good."

  • "My husband and I came here to celebrate an anniversary. We didn't want a big foodie meal nor a big bill at the end, but we wanted something delicious, and we remembered Il Fornaio. I hope we remember it more often. The food and service are always good. We often do the regional dinner when we do go and are content with food and portions. It's easy to forget you are in the middle of an business park because of the way the restaurant is designed."

  • "We love the regional dinners each month. The price is good and the choices are perfect. Plus we get to try new wines. We only wish risotto was part of the tasting every month. Most of them look interesting but not to order an entire dish. We look forward to our visit to Il Fornaio every month starting with a drink at the bar (great Artisan cocktail and bread sticks) and ending with a yummy dessert and gift from the attentive waiter. On to the next region and another great meal and fun evening at Il Fornaio, Irvine."

The venue is lovely with the open roof to let the beautiful California evening in. We were able to catch up and not feel like we were being hurried. I'd definitley go back."

  • "We had a server (Bradley or Brad) that had only been there 3 days so he was not well versed on wines, menu, etc. Instead of saying he didn't know he kind of made up or guessed when we asked him a couple things. When we questioned him he brought his trainer over to answer for him. I would have prefered it if he said he didn't know and just went to find out instead of "winging it". Also, I asked for decaf espresso but clearly got caffinated - I was up all night :(. All in all the food was good. We will return."

I wanted to start with a small salad, he pointed to the menu (salad section) and said "which one?" Also, the buss boy, asked us if we wanted dessert, as he cleared the breads from our table, end of meal. Then our server came with the bill in hand, and asked if we wanted anything else, before dropping the check on the table. I was really disappointed with the service. I don't know if the server was tired or just had an off day. Regardless, I did not have a good experience. This was on the top list when clients are in town."

  • "The food was great and the service was great the only thing that ruined our experience is that we were seated literally five feet from the kitchen where it was loud and people squeezing by the whole time. We were also placed two feet from another table if I wanted I could have reached over and tasted their food. If this was a last minute decision on one of the their busiest nights of the year I guess it would be O.K. BUT I had made reservations almost three weeks in advance and confirmed the day before, they still stuck us in the kitchen and the hostess said " this is all they had available tonight" . Other then our table being close the kitchen the food and service was great."

These two room s usually host business dinners or partys and were why the noise level was quite. The main dining area is very noisy in comparison."

The bread and appetizer were both tasty, my boyfriends entree was pretty good, but my ravioli was awful, Infact overly dry and bland. I compared it to baby food. I didn't complain because I don't like to, I shared my boyfriends pasta . Maybe I will go back and give it another chance, but I won't be rushing there."

To his credit, he followed up during the meal and afterwards to make certain we were happy with the meal, service, and experience. Delightful evening with excellent service and good food.
