A word from Il Fornaio - Beverly Hills
Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.Continued

  • "Good food, good service in Beverly Hills. That's nice!"

  • "Felt a bit rushed throughout lunch with a waiter that hovered; very noisy. But good food at a fair price."

  • "I'm a repeat customer. I'm at the restaurant at least once a month when I'm in LA on business. The food, service and locale. This time, I had one of my favorites: lasagna. You really have had lasagna until you tried theirs."

  • "We go AT LEAST once a month and recommend doing the monthly "regional" club. The create a menu of food options from different regions in Italy. The menus are personally selected with Chef's from that region. We always find some favorites on each menu, but really enjoy trying all different foods there, even though some may not be what we would normally like. Again, an amazing staff and lovely lovely people. We'll be back next month for sure!!!"

  • "I took a client here for her birthday, have been here many many times. We arrived at 10am, my client ordered a latte, it arrived cold. she retuned it. We ordered our breakfast & it arrived and was fine. We sat and talked for a while. I excused myself from the table & very quietly asked one of the waiters (not the one serving us as I could not find him) if they would please bring a dessert to the table with a candle as a nice birthday surprise. He said no problem. I went back to the table, the check had already arrived. We sat for a bit longer and OUR waiter arrived looked at me & wanted us to pay the bill. NO dessert ever showed up, they didn't care - I guess we overstayed our welcome. A bit disappointing. Not the usual service."

  • "I think my partner and I had the misfortune to attend on a Sunday evening when the restaurant was understaffed. We had to wait a very long time for our food. Various wait staff acknowledged the delay and apologized profusely. We received a complimentary desert and some packets of spices for at-home pasta preparation. The food was delicious, and we would return again because 1) the food was awesome, and 2) the wait staff was apologetic and wanted to compensate us for the long wait. What's not to like about people who take responsibility for a failing to provide timely service? We will return."

  • "We never miss when we eat here. Our service was terrific, the food was excellent and the price was somewhat reasonable for what you get."

  • "The monthly Festa Regionale menu is a great way to explore Italian Food and Wine. But their regular menu has a ton of great dishes on it too, and their wine pairing suggestions are apropos. This is not the lowest-priced place to eat you can find, but it may be the lowest-priced place with really great food. And the best bread in Los Angeles, and that's not exaggerating. Recommended if you like Italian food. Recommended if you like food, period."

  • "A very good restaurant with great food and even better service. The noise level was severe due to a screaming uncontrolled brat."

  • "Great food. Attentive waiters. Family friendly and romantic at the same time. A great place for Valentine's Day dinner."

  • "Overall food was delicious, service was good, but the lemonade I ordered was $4.50 (no refill), which was disappointment. Other than that, I recommend this place."

  • "Il Fornaio is a remarkable Italian Restaurant. I went there a few months ago and was given a "passport" which anyone can receive. The chef then picks a different region from Italy and features their food for about 10 days each month. You can choose from a three course meal for about $39, plus a flight of half glasses of amazing wines that compliment each course; or, you (as my girlfriend does) my just choose one thing to try if you'd like. Last month's very unique and although it was not my favorite, it was great to experience very new foods that I'd never tried before..even while in Italy. February's was amazing and the dessert was the best I've ever had. On top of it, the service is very friendly, despite a sometimes busy floor!"

  • "For years Il Fornaio has brought Italy's regional cooking to LA and each experience is splendid. For a 3-course meal, the price is very affordable."

  • "What service plus what great food. A spectacular gem."

  • "I've been to Il Fornaio a number of times and am always pleasantly pleased. I recently went to lunch with a group of colleagues and the service was great. The food came out further quickly which I was a fan of. The only negative part of the experience, which in reality, was not that bothersome, was tht my chair was bumped several times as other patrons and staff walked by."

  • "This is by far the best. Always consistent. Service was very good and the staff were very accomodating"

  • "The food at this restaurant is usally good however in this instance the waiter never bother to even take out order which is especially odd as we were right in the center of the restaurant. Terrible."

  • "We love the food and ambience but the servers are rude and snobby."

  • "The food and service were spot on - but they need to be more mindful of cleaning up the floor."

  • "Enjoyed the Kurobuta pork chop wrapped in pancetta and oven roasted. Fantastic flavor, very tender. All four of us had tastes and were thrilled. Also had a sensational waitress. Unfortunately, do not know her name but she is from Saronno, near Milano. Great personality. She made it a treat for all of us."

  • "It seemed to have a bit of an "air" about it. The hostess was polite is sort of a beverly hills kinda way. The service appeared to be slow so I took my server aside and gave him the heads up I was into attention, not long term dining. I said this after being seated and waited for 10 minutes before anyone asked me I wanted a cocktail. All in all, it was fine, I would go again, but not my favorite place."

  • "The restaurant in general had a good vibe, but the tables were so close together that the waiter could not serve the food properly. There was not enough space to even stand at the table and serve the food. He had to stand behind me and lean over to set the plates down. There was absolutely no privacy to talk. If you can stand that the food was good, not great."

  • "Dined here on New Year's Eve. Wasn't very crowded so our reservation was honored immediately . Was pleased with our table as was the hostess - next to window. As always, the food was delicious and the bread fabulous. Service was polite and excellent."

  • "This is our favourite restaurant in LA. Food is great, service outstanding. Hard not to go back time and again, which we do. We visit LA about once/year, and go to Il Fornaio as many times as possible. Never disappoints. We couldn't make a stronger recommendation- enjoy!"

  • "We made reservations and when we got to the restaurant we were seated right away. They came took our drink order, brought water and bread. From there it went south very quickly. They left us sitting there over 25 minutes before I went up to a manager and said no one has asked to take our order. I had the butternut squash raviolis. Totally took away from the flavor of the butternut squash. My husband had the seafood pasta with shrimp, scallops and Calamai, all of which were like the side of a finger nail. My Mother in-law had a spice pasta with larger shrimp which looked good but had no flavor. NO flavor, no service not going back and won't tell anyone to go there either."

  • "Being a favourite of ours for a good few years now this is the first chance that we have had to give this great restaurant the review that it deserves. The bread with the oil and balsamic is always a sign that you are there. The seafood linguine is always full of seafood ( I had 5 large scallops in mine!) the wines are always full bodied and very reasonable. The staff always very attentive and helpful. It is a great place for lunch or a casual dinner but book as it is always very busy."

  • "Reliably enjoyable with simple Italian bistro food. Technically you could call Fornaio a chain. They have 15 in California alone and the interiors are all similar. But the food never feels chain-bland, the wine list is decent, and the service is excellent. There's something to be said for predictable -- and Fornaio is predictably, reliably good. Considering how bad restaurants can be (even the Italian ones in Beverly Hills), reliably good is high praise."

  • "This restaurant is always fun to be in. There is an air of energy and festivity all around. Our server brought us bread and oil quickly. We ordered a pizza to share as an appetizer and it arrived right away. It was delicious. Probably the best of all Italian restaurants. Our entrees came soon after that and they were also good. I ordered the rotisserie chicken salad and my partner ordered one of the pasta dishes. Both were delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "I have eaten at Il Fornaio on numerous occasions and have always love the food, the ambiance, the friendly wait staff, etc. On Friday evening, I found my Scaloppine ai Carciofi e Limone to be without flavor. Also, the tomatoes in my Caprese Salad looked and tasted like they came from Food for Less; pulpy and not pink in color. Frankly, it's the first time I've ever been disappointed by a meal at Il Fornaio in Beverly Hills; I know you guys can do better. Next time, I will go back to the amazing roast chicken, seafood mixed grill, etc."

  • "We came to enjoy the creation of the guest chef. We ordered the three course that consisted of perfect portion size of a small salad, small pasta and a generous size secondi."
