A word from Il Casale - Lexington
Located in the heart of Lexington Center, il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar is a restaurant from Chef Dante de Magistris and his brothers Damian de Magistris and Filippo de Magistris. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar continues the story of il Casale Cucina Italiana that began in Belmont five years ago, but is a tour around the Campania region of Italy where the de Magistris family hails from.

il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 18 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.

We visited this Lexington restaurant for a birthday dinner. The food is quite interesting and delicious. We enjoyed a good bottle of red wine together with some small plates and an appetizer. The mushroooms were delicious and as was the pumpkin with ricotta. I think the pasta could have been a bit spicier. Overall, a nice place and we will return.

My third visit was the best. Knowledgeable waiter, unique specials (carpaccio bruschetta) and well-executed seasonal offerings (roast pumpkin side and pumpkin torte for dessert) along with tasty main dishes made for a truly satisfying dinner.

The service was excellent and the food was delicious, albeit pricey. It's fine for a special occasion, but not if you're looking for a quiet and romantic ambiance. There were several tables with children, although I don't think it was suited for them.

Server was very attentive throughout our dinner! He was knowledgeable about wine and gave us some great information. Our seating was not ideal for me. I could look right into the kitchen and see the big yellow bucket and mop that washes the floor. Will go back but request seating

The food was great and the wine was excellent. The service could have been better though. We were continually interupted and almost forced to order because our waitress continually check in too much to see if we were ready to order. We were looking to enjoy a nice dinner after a long week and it seemed as though all she was trying to do was get us out of there. Unfortunately, no amount of polite hinting that we weren't in a rush seemed to work. The restaurant wasn't busy so I'm not sure why the unnecessary push. Everything else was great and I'm sure with the restaurant being newly opened some kinks need to be worked out but the service did dampen our experience. Definitely worth a second chance though!

The restaurant was great. However, I had mentioned that it was our anniversary. The restaurant gave us 2 glasses of champagne (not filled) and then at dessert they gave us a dish of gelato. Now, we did not order these items. The waiter said that he had a surprise and that was the gelato. We thought they were free from the restaurant. When I got home, I checked our bill and saw that we had been charged for the champagne and gelato. I will be sending them a letter letting them know about my displeasure and if they just show up with things then I expect them to be on the house. It is a lovely restaurant, but beware if you are going there for a reason and the restaurant shows up with items that you did not order.

After dining at the Belmont location many times, we were excited to hear Il Casale was opening a new location in Lexington center. We couldn't have been more pleased to find that the food and service were as spot on as Belmont. The menus are different but equally fabulous. I could carry on forever about what we selected but the point I want to make is TRY THIS PLACE! You won't be disappointed. After dinner I strongly suggest a Chamomile Grappa. Heaven! Service was superb. We are always made to feel welcome and special and will definitely return.

Il Casale in Lexington is located ideally, right in downtown. I arrived a half hour before the rest of my party, but was seated promptly and served graciously until they arrived. We had outstanding service, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Just the right combo of quiet with a bit of an interesting buzz. The interior is contemporary/Italian and the food is Southern Italian. The vibrant bar does not intrude on diners, but adds a sense of energy. The bruschetta was unique and great. My glass of wine was a cut above the usual house wine. We were a bit disappointed they did not have more vegetable side dishes, which is our only suggestion for improvement. We will definitely be back, eager to try more dishes and enjoy the excellent service.

We had an important business dinner, so we hoped this restaurant would lend itself to a friendly, conversational atmosphere. We were placed in a table that was off by itself by the window. The waitress was very courteous and did a great job, making our experience easy and successful. Business dinners can be impacted if the restaurant, food or service is not up to par. I felt this was a perfect spot and convenient to boot!

Both my spouse and I were disappointed with our main entrees. My spouse had the pork ragu which instead of a pasta dish with ground meats in tomato sauce was pasta with a red sauce topped with 2 not very taste pork ribs. The tomato sauce tasted like a canned sauce and the ribs were over cooked and tasteless. My dish of clams over linguini was salty and the pasta was not al dente, but chewy. To the restaurant's credit they did take off the price of my spouse's entree when he noted his disappointment and did not eat most of the dish. We both did enjoy the bread and the simple salad and bruschetta were good.

I tried to take a small group (4) to the new Il Casale in Lexington, in hopes it would redeem itself after a bad service experience in the Belmont location. I've loved Il Casale in Belmont up until recently, when both the food has slipped somewhat, and the service had become just bad (disjointed servers, being rushed through meals). Unfortunately, the same thing happened in Lexington, where it seemed our wait staff was pushing, pushing, PUSHING us through dinner. The new menu in Lexington very different than Belmont, and also disappointing, With all the other great dining options in and around Boston and MetroWest, Il Casale now officially moves into the "no repeat business" category. Very disappointing.

We had a reservation and were promptly seated - drinks were quickly taken and delivered. The menu items were few and there was only one special. We split the bruschetta which was very tasty. My wife had the clams and pasta which she loved, I had the lasagna which was tasty but burned on the edges. Service was quite nice and friendly, crowd was loud but not overly so - We will return again - wish for more options on the menu.

I went to Il Casale in Lexington on a Wednesday night with two friends and I really wanted the food to be good but it wasn't. The wine, the company and the service were all great, so it was a fun night out, but the food was flavorless, unimpressive, stingy on portion sizes and overall just bad. The prices are outrageous for what you get, and seriously, it is not good. I feel like the chef's culinary vision is lacking imagination.

Everything at Il Casale was wonderful, starting with the olive oil and the fabulous bread. The waiter was very helpful with wine selection and with the menu. We really wanted to like Il Casale. The server was warm, but not informed, which is forgivable, the poor food quality is not. I took my parents for their anniversary, and they were met at the table with glasses of sparkling wine, which was a lovely gesture. We then started with two of the small bites, the ricotta and the chicken liver, which were better than most everything else we ate afterwards. The best thing we ate was the fried "pizza", light fried dough with a central dollop of fresh tomato sauce and pieces of aged provolone and salami as accompaniments; it was solidly good. The other 6 dishes we had including meat, seafood and pasta were overcooked, under seasoned, and unremarkable. Go for a drink and small plates, skip dinner.
