A word from Il Buco Ristorante
The A1 Autostrada was the first Italian motorway that connected Milan with Naples via Bologna, Florence and Rome and notably reflects Danilo Terribili's concept of serving classic Italian dishes from all regions. A1 Cucina Italiana introduces urban Los Angeles to the full range of flavors found all over Italy. The cuisine is simple and rustic with a few unusual, although authentically Italian ingredients to add a contemporary and somewhat unexpected spin.

Chef Fredy Escobar is committed to use the freshest and the most authentic ingredients resulting in lively, flavorful food. The pizzas are roman style. Thin crust with ingredients like Swiss chard, Calabrian hot peppers, mozzarella di bufala, guanciale, artichokes, prosciutto and home made Italian sausage.

Equally a neighborhood and destination eatery, A1 intends to be both.

  • "Since opening, Il Buco has been a frequent go to place for us. The food is always delicious, the sevice is great and you can actually have a conversation and hear each other. The fettuccine tartuffate is amazing as is the pasta with eggplant, to name a few. On Fridaya bottles of wine are half off and they stock some wonderful Italian wines like vermentinos and vernaccias."

  • "I've come to Il Buco on more than one occasion and every time it's simply delightful. I try something different each time and I'm never disappointed. The food is delicious, the ambience lovely and the service great (without being intrusive). Its perfect for a romantic dinner or just a relaxing place to catch up with a friend for lunch."

  • "Pastas are very good; a bit pricier than we expected (2 pastas, 1 salad and 2 glasses of wine $80)."

  • "What a treat! Great food--seafood soup is scrumptious; pizza is perfect thin crust; and mozzarella salad is yummers. Me like very much. I wish they had their squid ink pasta available--the only, minor disappointment. Just a reason to stalk their menu and return."

  • "Pizza was great, everyone enjoyed entres. Nothing stands out as amazing, but very good for a bite before theater or local venues."

  • "This is a really excellent place for solid italian food. Not pretentious and when you leave you feel you should be on Via del Corso in Rome and not Robertson Blvd. Great burrata with prosciutto ...not salty. Sliced artichoke salad is another favorite. Pastas are also wonderful. Noise level not bad. Price is right where it should be! Enjoy!"

  • "menu items aren't cutting edge, but they don't try to be. but food is well prepared and satisfying. whenever i want pasta, i consider this for a fix. friday nights they offer wine at 50% off. staff is attentive. you can hear your dining companions without shouting, more and more of a rarity in the LA restaurant scene these days. "

  • "Have been to Il Bucco four times over the last three months. I found it on OTand it is near the hotel I frequent in Beverley Hills. Prior experiences were great. The food was terrific and the wine list has amazing offers. Service the first time was good, service the next two times was fabulous. Service this time was mediocre at best. Our waitress was just out of it and seemed not to care. Bread was late, super tuscan came to the table 30 minutes after ordering it. No ice bucket was brought or offered for the prosecco and pinot grigio. Just unattentive. This was disappointing after the prior visits. Still a favorite and I will go back myself and with large parties but I will ask for seating in the side room where I have had great service. "

  • "Il Buco Ristorante is always reliable, welcoming and charming. Best, however, is the quality and consistency of the food and the occasional, unusual special. The menu is diverse, offering a few items that are uncommon on Italian menus in LA, and the Friday night wine special (half off full bottles) is a great deal. So, when we want an excellent dinner in a comfortable space, we return here."

  • "Large menu with many choices without too many trendy ingredients. Reasonably priced. Good portions. Very welcoming staff."

  • "Found Il Bucco on OT while looking for a restaurant close to my hotel to schefule a family dinner. Hsve been back several times. This visit was terrific. The food, wine and service was outstanding. I recommend visiting - the specials have always been fabulous and the wine list has some great offerings. "

  • "I have to hand it to Il Buco for consistent delicious food. We go to Il Buco often and bring guests from out of town. Every time we visit the food is exceptional and the service is amazing. Waiters are very attentive, and the food...wow. I had the best clams and linquini that I've ever had and I'm Italian and very picky. The panzanella salad is wonderful. My husband had the tagliatelli and it was just wonderful. Desserts are to die for like the panacotta and flourless chocolate cake. Always a great dining experience."

  • "Was seated at the most awkward table, feeling totally exposed and on display in the middle of the restaurant for a 9P reservation. Were you expecting more diners after 9P that I could not get a table with some privacy on Valentine's? I've never been here and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but the service and food was not quite up to my expectations. I'm not italian but I've had more inspiring risottos before. I couldn't help myself from thinking throughout my dinner that I was never coming back again. I must say that they certainly tried to do their best and were warm and friendly."

  • "Horrible. Slow Service. Bad quality food. I felt that the food they made was microwaved. Everything I ordered came out overcooked or soggy. It took around 10 minutes to give us water. When asked for the check, they gave us another tables check and didn't even apologize. From my own experience, I personally would not go here anymore but it might have just me."

  • "This was our second time at Il Buco and I'm sure we will return even though we do not live in the area. Warm personal service and food well-prepared all in a relaxing little dining room makes for a perfect combination."

  • "Right as my friend and I walked in the door and said we had a reservation, the person seating us knew who we were and saw us to our table. He was so helpful in explaining what was popular on the prix fixe, and was very convincing in trying something new. The staff was so attentive, also because it wasn't extremely busy at the time, but our water was always refilled as soon as it neared empty, and as soon as we were done with one course, someone would be there to remove the empty dishes and provide us with new silverware. The food was just, beyond exceptional. But the best part was the tiramisu. Never have I had such a light and airy tiramisu until I came here. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this little gem of a restaurant."

  • "Il Buco is our most favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food never disappoints always consistently good. Although the restaurant has an "adult ambience" when we go for an early dinner we take our grandchildren and the staff are always very friendly & accommodating to the children. Highly recommend the mushroom risotto & the carciofi salad. We look forward to returning."

  • "Their chicken piccata is consistently good and cooked to perfection."

  • "Il Buco has gone through several name changes, but they are back to their origins. The food is reliably delicious. The menu is typical Italian, but there are always specials and they'll make something (do-able) for your particular taste as well. The service is stupendous and the noise level lets you have a conversation. We always bring out of town guests there and no one leaves disappointed."

  • "My favorite neighborhood restaurant for business meetings and special occasions."
    Dined on 1/6/2014
  • "Nice, small neighborhood Italian restaurant. The portions were substantial, not humongous. The food was very good, but needed a little more seasoning. The prices are moderate. The noise level was comfortable, except for one little girl who had not found her "inside voice" yet."

  • "We went there on 15th for my wife's birthday. The food and service were very good the waiters were very polite and knowledgeable and I will definitely recommend the place for dinner."

  • "il buco seems to understand that a restaurant is a service business. it seems that everyone here from hostess to the waiters to the busboys is focused on enhancing your dining experience. unlike the current trend of "no substitutions," il buco is willing to adjust their menu to give you what you like. regardless, the food is well prepared and very tasty. bread is fresh and perfect for dipping, and (again unlike the current trend in LA) and they don't charge you extra for it. reasonably priced and interesting wines on their wine list, and a very reasonable $15 corkage should you decide to bring your own. have dined here several times before and hope to return again and again."

  • "Service was great! Food was good, but service was better"

  • "It was our third time in the past month that we dined at IL Buco. We have been taste-testing lots of Italian restaurants in Beverly Hills and neighboring environs. Il Buco is a true winner. Hope to return next week with friends."

  • "when we want pasta, this is where we go. they even prepared a pasta that used to be on the menu but isn't any longer. service is friendly and efficient. unlike many restaurants in LA, you can actually talk to and hear your dinner companions without shouting. our waiter asked if we had a show to get to (which we did) and paced our dishes so that we weren't late. corkage is a reasonable $15, but the wine list has options to suit a wide range of tastes and budgets. it's really a lovely restaurant."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "Our dinner got off to a bit of a rocky start. We were greeted by a really friendly but somewhat disheveled host, then our waitress seemed to not be in her groove and the service felt off. One person waited almost 25 minutes for a glass of wine while 2 others got martinis and nearly finished them before the wine arrived! That said, it was all uphill from there. The server hit her groove, and she became highly attentive. And the food was FANTASTIC! Rack of veal, osso buco, and desserts were particular standouts. All in all, a big thumbs up, and to our server, brava for tuning into our early apprehension and for making an adjustment. Much appreciated and know we'll be back. ; )"

  • "Our go to restaurant in the neighborhood. Consistently good service & food - the carciofi salad is the best! We are non-meat eaters & there is always something new & good to try. We will return again & again!"

  • "Maitre'd and waitstaff went out of their way to make us comfortable and service was perfect. Food was great, prices reasonable."

  • "Il Buco had a name change and is now A-1. Some of the best pasta dishes in town. Try the Fettuccine Tartufalle with porcini mushrooms, the Penne with Eggplant and the Fettuccine Bolognese. Salads are chilled and crisp with tangy dressings and the dorade (fish) is outstanding. Solid wine list with reasonably priced selections from California and Italy. Service is friendly and quick. It is our "go-to" place in Beverly Hills."
