Il Buco Alimentari & VineriaMama Mia!!One of the best Italian meals we've head outside of Italy'
Terrific menu, ex emotional service, the pastas are to die for and don't skip dessert!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingEvery item was incredible from apps to dessert. Couldn't have asked for a better spot to celebrate a new job. Excellent staff, awesome efficient and creative kitchen/chef, and just as good- if not better than the regular il buco. Can't wait to come back. Thanks!!!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!I took a friend there for their birthday and the food was fantastic, taste and we highly recommend this place!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dishThe slow roasted short Rib sandwich ...master piece.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM10th anniversaryIl buco more intimate, cozy space than its sister restaurant alimentary. High backless stools a bit uncomfortable. Salami for two a must. $1 bread surcharge expected but silly after reading other reviews. Grilled octopus appetizer delicious. Spaghetti salty but cooked to perfection. Enjoyed overall dining experience and service was excellent6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLove, love, love - alwaysLove, love, love - always have, ever since they opened their doors.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAll Around Great DinnerThe restaurant is open and bright with a casual, comfortable atmosphere. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The food and restaurant philosophy was explained well by the server. The food was delicious, with a good variety for a relatively small menu. It was a good place for sharing plates. Nothing disappointed. I recommend adding their delicious bread to whatever you order and ending the meal with their flavorful biscotti.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSalumi plate was deliciousSalumi plate was delicious many house cured. White asparagus extraordinary but only one to an order at $19. All pastas were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Extensive wine list at all price ranges. Tried a carafe of their house red and was pleased with the quality. Order the house bread basket with drinks. Very professional wait staff without pretention. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the experience which was akin to an Italian trattoria.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe keep returningWhich says a lot! Love everything about the place and especially the short ribs.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMJust RightEverything we want: crowd pleasers, foodie food to chat about, warm service culture...the works...5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a groupWe had 7 people at a later table and enjoyed sharing a bunch of plates and good, well-priced wine. Great pastas. We'd all go back.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways ExceptionalI am always in a great mood before I go to Il Buco, because I know I am going to Il Buco. It makes me happy and I know my friends, who haven't been there before, are going to roll their eyes with joy. The service this time around was better than ever. And our group of four sat back a good dozen times, each of us, to say, "Oh my God. Wow." Yes, it's far from inexpensive, but by the end of the meal I compare it to the really pricey restaurants in town and think about making a fresh reservation once I get home. The assortito of cured meats - always a crowd pleaser, as is the giant short rib. But this time we especially enjoyed the bottarga spaghetti, the roasted gnocchi, the mustard kale side, and the artichokes. And the squid!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingAs always we had a great time, food and service are outstanding!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to go for an excellentgreat place to go for an excellent festive meal or a small dinner where you want a vibrant atmosphere
food is quite good and service is excellent5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and creativeMy sister hates Italian food but she loved il buco. The dishes are inventive, flavorful, and tasty. Not to be outdone by every other hip spot, ramps are rampant on the menu. The only thing that was disturbing was the level of smoke in the air. My eyes started to burn towards the end of our meal. I left smelling like the Italian version of Korean BBQ. Despite this, I would definitely go back to il buco!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeIl Buco Alimentari was truly spectacular. Warm setting, and the gnocchi with mushrooms and the short ribs were world class. Food doesn't get any better than this!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMRustic ItalianWhat a masterpiece of rustic Italian food prepared in the old fashioned, labor intensive way, with skill, passion, and top quality ingredients.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleWent for a friends birthday. The food was amazing. The most authentic Italian food I have ever had in the US and in some places even in Italy. Will definitely go back!
Major treat!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest New Dining in A Long TimeWhat a delight. Great restaurant, great scene. Can't wait until I get back.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMItaly in NohoGreat spot for grazing on salumi, cheeses and
Pasta
Italian wines and crunchy breads make it a meal
Whole Bronzino is perfect as are salads5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe porchetta is a dream :)This was the second time I dined at Il Buco. Just as good or maybe even better this time! Great selection of wines and every bit of food is to die for. My favorites are: Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, and the Porchetta! But everything was delicious.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dinner at the barFantastic dinner at the bar with Jessie, the bartender.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Buco A&VGreat ambience, great food, great wine list. Was seated about 15 minutes after our reservation, and was given a seat at the bar. Would've expected a proper seating, but it 8:30 on a Saturday so I suppose they were quite busy.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMRespect.Dining is all about an experieince. The point is to enjoy food that you wouldn't or couldn't make for yourself at home. Respect for the food, quality and care, is the halmark of fine dining. Food at Il Buco shows LOTS of respect.
Service is again a matter of respect. Everpresent, but not in your face. Wine selection (counselling) is not a test of knowledge or an opportunity for a sommellier to show off. The front of house has the right attitude to care and attention of the dining guests, with the utmost respect.
The ambiance is relaxed, informal and has a casual comfort only in appearance. I understand it to be unitimidating and allow the diner to take pleasure in the food an service.
All to be said, Il Buco wins my respect.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat authentic trattoriaSo good...dreaming of the crispy artichokes, the bucatini, and the orichietti....oh and of course the salumi!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, too loud in theAs usual, too loud in the main dining area. The entrance level has a better noise profile, but primarily bar height tables and a small eating bar. The upstairs area is quieter, but may feel like Siberia to some.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe food was devine. No complaints!! There were 4 of us and everyone was happy with the choices. Pasta was outstanding.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat experience!I went for my birthday dinner with my family and had a really great time. Beautiful setting, very lively and hip inside but not too loud to overwhelm them. Amazing pasta dishes all around - we tried 4 different types to share and a number of appetizers, really delicious all around. Next time we will definitely be ordering an entree as well - we were perfectly full from what we ordered but sitting near the kitchen, we saw far too many go out to pass up next time. Highly recommend!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thought the food was offWe thought the food was off and the waitress had too much attitude and not especially attentive. Long wait btw main courses and ordering dessert. Felt like an off day.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC!AMAZING...always! This restaurant never disappoints.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with a group of 6. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would defenetly return.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMone of my top five favoriteone of my top five favorite restaurants in NYC - and that's saying a lot in a city of a million good restaurants4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Buco Alimentari & VineriaIl Buco Alimentari & Vineria continues to be one of Manhattan's best restaurants. It's noisy but the food is delicious. We sat at the bar which was very comfortable. We were full after 5 appetizers and contorni without any main course. The dessert was also delicious.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great. A bit noisy,Overall great. A bit noisy, and the one hostess was unfriendly and abrupt, but the rest of the staff were great. The food is excellent.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOther then that they keptOther then that they kept us waiting 30 minutes post reservation time for a table in a misereable claustiphobic area, very nice .4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. PortionsThe food was excellent. Portions were generous without overindulging, and the service was attentive and our waiter knowledgable and efficient.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot, great food. ServiceGreat spot, great food. Service lacked a little for the money we spent. 500 for three no dessert. And the wine list needs work.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAll enjoyable. Short ribsAll enjoyable. Short ribs just a little too much fat content. I'll return4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAt first we felt a bit rushed,At first we felt a bit rushed, but after asking our waiter to slow down the pace, it was perfect. I will be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere! We sat atGreat atmosphere! We sat at the bar and had great evening. The food was outstanding!! The artichokes were beyond delicious and everything we ordered was amazing!! We felt like we were on a side street in Rome, but better!! So happy to find such a gem4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is why I live in New York.Spectacular in every way. I am running out of friends to bring for a new experience. The fish! Oh my, the branzino! The staff is lovely, the vibe is fun and the ambiance is great.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious pastas. ServiceDelicious pastas. Service was prompt and friendly. If it wasn't for the fact that it was so noisy, this would be an excellent place to go all the time.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food but it's veryExcellent food but it's very loud on the 2nd floor!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love bringing lifelongWe love bringing lifelong New York friends for Il Buco's wonderful food and service. Every single person we've introduced to Il Buco walks out the door saying they cannot wait to return with other friends. We have great memories and fun, too, from dining there.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood excellent although theyFood excellent although they were out of a couple of lead dishes early. We ended up being seated at a counter, not a table and Ididn't like that. The food was terrific. Unique concepts very well executed. My pasta portion was smallish but outstanding. My wife's porchetta was fabulous.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHow can one complain aboutHow can one complain about to overcrowded entrance and hostesses that demonstrate favoritism over first-timers with reservations when the food is so outrageously tasty. Short ribs & fried artichokes are as other reviewers stated - simply fabulous.
While short rib serving was huge, the pasta serving should have been about 20% larger since some of us are there for the pasta!
A busy, somewhat noisy restaurant often signals good things but with hardwood floors, brick walls and shared tables with other diners, the noise level was a distraction from the fine food and may be a question should I think about returning.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
