  • "Great food, great service. Great experience for my wife and I while celebrating our 15 year anniversary."

  • "What a tremendous find. Well worth the drive (under normal conditions but even during rush hour fiascos as we recently experienced). The very best Italian food to be found in the Charlotte area. Truly impressive. Very welcoming staff. Definitely will visit again."

  • "My husband and I like to dine here on those rare nights that our son is with his grandparents. Food is consistently great...esp love the gnocchi. Service is top notch. Highly recommend."

  • " We had a truly enjoyable experience. The restaurant was very busy but quiet and romantic. The owner Jimmy picked a bottle of wine for us – Tignanello 2011. It was spectacular. The king prawn and arugula appetizer was amazing and my rib-eye cooked perfectly the way I like it – medium rare. My wife had a great salad to start and the roasted salmon with capers, baby tomatoes and whole olives for dinner. We finished with a few home made pignoli cookies. Can’t wait to go back…."

  • "Neighborhood feel and definitely a nice option relative to large and impersonal. Food was very good, veal saltimbocca excellent."

  • "Our party of 4 was promptly seated and asked for our beverage choice. The wine list is adequate with Italian wine prominent. The food service was timely with nice presentations. My only gripe was the warm bread with a bean and olive oil garish was a little late arriving at the table. Also, I would appreciate the management allowing guest's to provide their own wines with a corkage fee."

  • "Intimate, yummy, and local are three things I look for in a restaurant and Il Bosco has them all. A great neighborhood place with good food and great service. Pearls not required, but the crowd looks and acts respectful to the fact that they are in a restaurant. Seems obvious, eh? But so many places don't have that vibe. Italian menu, and always some wonderful specials. Good wine list and a full bar. Davidson is a college town so the crowd can dwindle in the summer at most restaurants. On our recent visit, Il Bosco was almost full on a summer Friday night which speaks to its popularity. If you haven't visited yet, please do so! You'll enjoy a great meal and will be supporting a local business."

  • "Excellent as always. My favorite Italian restaurant in the Charlotte area. Baked goods, desserts and pasta made on premises are especially good."

  • "Elegant dining in a very cordial and comfortable atmosphere. Food was classic Italian--pastas, veal, chicken, duck, steak, fish--and the freshness of all ingredients was the crown on the delicious entrées. Creative and delicious appetizers as well as a dessert like no other I have ever tasted, really. The owner has been present and interacting with customers each time we have been there -- it's like dining in his personal dining room. It is evident that many customers were regulars. The wait staff is customer attentive without being intrusive. The wine list included California as well as Italian wines."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful meal on the patio. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Each course was a creative delight. We will be going again and bringing friends."

  • "From the get-go, the waiters were engaging and very polite -- all around great service. The food, of course, was absolutely marvelous and prepared with the amount of care and precision expected of a real Italian restaurant. My only thought -- why not go more often?"

  • "Have been here many times and have yet to have anything less than a wonderful meal. Salads are constantly changing but always fresh and tasty. Have had red meat, pork, veal, fish main dishes and all good with local products whenever possible. Menu changes seasonally and always presents enticing choices. Always friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend."

  • "I do not live in Davidson, so had no prior experience with this restaurant. I was told by my dining companion that it was the best place in town. We sat outside at the back of the restaurant, right next to a little garden with an active fountain. Perfect day for it! Our server/host was charming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I checked it out on-line the day before, and everything looked yummy. I ordered two appetizers rather than an entree -- mussels sautéed with garlic and herbs in a white wine sauce. This was my first time eating mussels and they were quite tasty! I also had the seared duck breast with farro and goat cheese salad with fresh mint and mixed berry sauce. Also delicious! Would go there again."

  • "This place was always a little iffy on customer service. but the quality of the food led us to give them the benefit of the doubt. We hadn't been back in more than a year since we were chased off by a bartender the last time we ate there (Its an Il Bosco thing). This time, the service was inefficient and slow, blundering at times, the owner's presence failing to speed up or smooth out the process. The small dining room was no more than 60% full, yet it took unconsciably long to get menus, get drinks, get appetizers, clear places, and get entrees. The table still looked like a battlefield when we were finally asked if we wanted dessert. "

  • "Very Nice Restaurant. Food and Apps were very good. Classic Italian not easily found in the Charlotte Region. Back Patio was beautiful. My opinion is that this is not a place for rowdy kids. Thankfully my 2 year old was fast asleep and my 9 year old is well mannered. The owners did everything to accommodate my boy with Crayons and Paper. Best Italian food I have had in this area. Not to mention very affordable. Great place for a romantic dinner for 2. Suited the night perfectly. "

  • "We were visiting in the area and found this on Open Table. Unbelievable find. Must be in our top five real Italian restaurants. We are from Los Angeles, but this out-shines most of our places here, and is on par with out favorite finds in Italy. Can't wait for the next visit to the area. The entire wait-staff put most of our local restaurants' staffs to shame. The obviously fresh pappardelle was perfectly cooked, the veal perfectly tender, the agnello perfectly medium-rare and all the seafood marvelous. What's more, what little was left was even better the next day. You locals need to appreciate and patronize this wonderful place."

  • "Here's a real find in Davidson, North Carolina. The owner is always on premises to greet you, and that's usually a good sign in any restaurant. The food is always well prepared, from the old-fashioned Italian "comfort" dishes, up to the more complicated preparations. As good as the food is, it's the comfortable feeling here that makes the dining experience so outstanding. Most everything is prepared on premises, and the owner's son does the baking, from bread to croissants. We've never been here for breakfast, but there's a very Euro feel to the small coffee bar that make it seem worth the trip some early morning. Have dinner here, stroll the beautiful town of Davidson, and go home well restored."

  • "I always enjoy my dining experience at Il Bosco. Food is great and the atmosphere lends itself to being able to have a quiet evening with conversation that is not drowned out by loud noise. One of my special "go to" places when I want to show off Davidson cuisine. "

  • "Il Bosco is a hidden neighborhood gem. While on the more expensive side, the food and service did not disappoint. It's a great spot for a getaway meal with that special someone or for an intimate dining experience. I will definitely go back!"

  • "Excellent Italian cuisine, with a few novel twists. One of the best restaurants in Davidson, and one of the few where you can really carry on a conversation. Attentive service and good choice of wines by the glass. Even my college-aged vegetarian daughter enjoyed her meal!"

  • "It's no wonder Il Bosco reminded me of great Italian restaurants in NYC. Soon after the warm greeting at the bar I could tell the owner was a fellow paisan from Brooklyn. We learned he brought his talents for authentic Italian dishes to small town North Carolina over twenty years ago. What a treat. Perfectly al dente pasta, veal milanesei, stuffed mushrooms, gnocchi, and bisteca with fresh herbs and Gorgonzola mashed potatoes, all Delicioso!! Add warm and attentive service. Best Italian for miles!! Bravo Jimmy and staff."

  • "Everything was great, except for our waitress. She managed to hover, but never cracked a smile. She did not tell us of the specials (which sounded great, when overheard from a neighboring table.) She made us feel like a burden. The other servers and staff seemed friendly and positive. The food was quite good and I liked that it had a quiet, cozy atmosphere."

  • "We had a good and bad experience. One of our diners is a vegetarian. We found out that all of their salad dressings contain raw eggs. All of their sauces contains wine - in addition to the avoidance of meat - our diner also could not tolerate the wine flavoring. The restaurant did not offer anything other than what was on the menu - she ended up w/ the roasted veggie appetizer (a cold dish). I had the gnocchi and while the food was excellent and cooked perfectly - the "grande" sized version for $19 wasn't very big. All in all - a good and bad experience."

  • "This was our first visit to il Bosco. From start to finish, we enjoyed everything. When my husband realized he had forgotten his reading glasses and couldn't see the menu, reading glasses magically appeared at the table. The service was perfect - always right there, friendly, but not intrusive. The food was excellent and everything was perfectly timed. The veal was cooked exactly right, the special salad of arugula, goat cheese was delicious. We'll be back!"

  • "The service was professional but friendly, attentive without being intrusive. What a pleasant surprise to be in a college town and not be referred to as "You guys" a single time! How nice that the owner introduced himself and spent time chatting - we felt that our presence was truly appreciated. The food was excellent - love those white beans in olive oil for the bread, and the house salad is not to be missed. Simple and just a prefect starter with that white balsamic and lemon vinaigrette. The only "complaint" would be that while the entrees were quite good, it was slim pickings for a non-meat eater who prefers a lighter touch. The menu is heavily meat-centered, and the pastas had a lot of cream and heavier sauces."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Greeted immediately by who appeared to be the manager/owner. Very quaint dining area. Tried the specials and they were excellent. Indulged in the chocolate ganashe dessert as well. Would definitely go back as many menu items looked attractive . I noticed many delicious salads being served."
