Il BistroAwesome !!Absolutely one of the BEST !!!
Can not wait to return !!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have dined at Il BistroWe have dined at Il Bistro many times and always enjoy ourselves! The food is always good. This time, the highlight was the pear gorgonzola ravioli with a brown sugar/butter sauce - to die for! The restaurant is on the noisy side, but we love the atmosphere in spite of that. The service was excellent. Be sure, we will be back!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely eveningWe enjoyed our visit to Il Bistro. The portions are large. The restaurant was happy to allow my husband and I share a salad before our entrees. Our server allowed us to taste a couple of wine selections before we selected one to have with our meal. Wines were reasonably priced and widely represented both new and old world wines with preference for Italian selections.
My halibut with green pea risotto was lovely as was the King Salmon. The roasted orzo accompanying the salmon was bland. Perhaps more roasting and a bit of broth to cook it would have improved the flavour for our palate.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly service, good foodOur most expensive meal on a 5-day getaway to Portland & Seattle, it was cheaper than most Vancouver restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find a good selection of WA state wines, as local wines had not been prominent at other places. The Harbinger Barbaresco - recommended by our waiter - was a light-to-medium-bodied red that paired nicely with my salmon, and my wife's pork.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic birthday dinnerOur server was very informed on the wine selection and gave excellent advice/suggestions on the menu items.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were looking for a veryWe were looking for a very special place to spend our 20th anniversary. This was it! We loved it.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Bistro is one of my favoriteIl Bistro is one of my favorite Italian restaurants anywhere. The food is always outstanding, service is excellent and the atmosphere is classy and low-key but at the same time, vibrant. Perfect for a romantic meal for two but also great for a group of 6 friends to get together and have a terrific meal in a classy but lively setting.
I do have one complaint, though. In my opinion, the bread and butter they serve is not of the same caliber as the rest of the menu and not befitting of the setting. My recommendation is that they serve their bread warm and with, at least the option of, herbed and/or balsamic vinegared olive oil.
That criticism aside, Il Bistro is a fine restaurant and one I look forward to visting again and again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Il Bistro for my 1Went to Il Bistro for my 1 year anniversary with my fiance. We're from Canada, and went to Seattle for the weekend. The ambiance in the restaurant was great. It was a bit darker. We did joke that a few people had actually brought flashlights with them to read the menu. I enjoyed the lighting though as it added some romance to the setting. I had the gnocchi and my fiance the filetto di manzo. The steak was divine. It almost melted in your mouth. I had never tried gnocchi before but read good reviews about it there and it lived up to my expectations. The steak though, WOW. Delicious. Appetizer bruschetta al pomodoro was also fantastic.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great ambience,Great food, great ambience, great service. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out a fantastic glass of red to go with my meal.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the owners took usOne of the owners took us back to see Gnocchi being made.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go back!Great wine, amazing dinner, attentive service. Pretty much sums it up. I had the salmon with pesto which was amazing while my family had the gnocchi and steak with risotto. All in all an excellent meal with great appetizers (though small portion wise) and good deserts. The ambiance was romantic, but there were many non couples there as well.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Il Bistro was a greatThe Il Bistro was a great little find - tucked away under Pike Street Market. We came for Seattle Restaurant Week. The service was great, the food was delicious, I'd definately come again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMReally a cute place in a cuteReally a cute place in a cute location. Great food and service, and a nice Italian wine list. What's not to love?4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Salmon!!!Went for restaurant week. The service was attentive but not overbearing, place was clean and not noisy, I was with my significant other so I got the romance package which included rose pedals on the table and two glasses of Italian champagne. Excellent choice of wine for any price range, great selection of single malt scotches and cognac. However the best part by far was the food.
My entree of choice was the salmon with pesto potatoes and asparagus. This was the best salmon I have ever had, as a Seattle native that is very impressive. When you took a bite it evaporated into pure flavor found myself eating it flake by flake to make it last as long as possible.
All in all it was an outstanding experience and I will be back again!!!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Bistro never fails on theirIl Bistro never fails on their food; the quality is consisttently fabulous.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIl Bistro was the perfectIl Bistro was the perfect restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's quarter century birthday!
