Diner Reviews
  • "The waiter was very helpful and had a lot of information on the restaurants history. The food was a good portion and was very good. And the Tiramisu was tasty. I would recommend it for a first date or a nice night out. Can't wait to go there again."

  • "Il Bistro has been a traditional choice for Classic Italian dining in the Market for years. The menu offers a variety of Italian favorites and specials-but keeps some favorites (e.g., the rack of lamb). The service is efficient and attentive. We took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu and three of us ordered different three-course offerings and found each delicious! As the restaurant filled, the noise level increased, making conversation more difficult but energizing the atmosphere. A highly recommended Restaurant for a special evening out in downtown Seattle."

  • "Il Bistro was the best dinner I had in Seattle! The food was delicious and fresh! It was amazing, the mushroom soup was perfect! I will definitely eat here again on my next visit to Seattle!"

  • "It's got a nice warm atmosphere. The acoustics are a little weird and loud. The food was really disappointing. We were really excited about it after reading the menu but everything was just very bland."

  • "I've been to Il Bistro several time in the last couple of months and each visit has been delicious. During our last visit, however, the menu had changed and my favorite dish was gone. While I was a little disappointed that I had to go with a less desirable option (lasagna), I still greatly enjoyed the food. My fiance have been here for special occasions and date night, but this last visit was our first time having others join us. We brought an old friend to celebrate his 30th birthday and he was very impresses with the quality of the food."

  • "Love this place! The atmosphere, vibe and food! Overall I had a wonderful time. It was one of me and my main squeeze's first times going out for a nice dinner together, and the setting couldn't have been better! The food was wonderfully prepared and the portions were perfect! The service was genuine and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice intimate date."

  • "Went in the evening for a dinner during the Restaurant week, lights still out, the window seats had a nice view of the setting sun on the water. Food was delicious. Overall it was relaxing and nice."

  • "Il Bistro was a great choice for Seattle Restaurant Week! I will find another time to go, but based on price it is more for a special occasion."

  • "Easy walk to Benaroya Hall or Triple Door. Cool location right under the "Pig." Excellent Italian food in a more formal (but not pretentious) atmosphere. Dining area not cramped at all and great for a having a quiet night out. Bistecca was excellent. I liked having my coat taken at the door - Nice touch."

  • "This was a romantic evening with my spouse. He'd been talking this restaurant up as one of his favorites from the 1980's, but something has been lost with time. The food was good, but not spectacular. The ambiance was lovely and everyone was delightful. Unfortunately our waitress was overworked so we were left waiting for our dessert and check. The music was extraordinary, thanks to Andre Ferieante. I must say my entree doggy bag was delicious for lunch because the flavors had a chance to blend and mature."

  • "I was very impressed. Il Bistro is a great place for a date night or for any romantic occasion. I really liked the low lighting and the cozy feel. They had a guy playing live music - it was beautiful and fit the mood and atmosphere perfectly. Apparently he's here Sunday nights, so that's probably the night I'll choose the next time my boyfriend and I come back. The food was better than I expected. I loved the bruschetta al pomodoro - it was very tasty. For my main course I had the gnocchi and my boyfriend had the pork tenderloin. He said it was really good and I felt the same way about my gnocchi. It was very tender and flavorful and I liked the cream that was in it. Our desserts (chocolate torte and tiramisu) were good as well."

  • "Party of four people tucked in a nice corner with attentive service from Jeremy (who decanted the lovely old bottle of Rhone wine that we brought for the occasion and then recommended a great follow-up). It was a terrific meal - the Caesar was the real deal, with pronounced anchovies and garlic in the dressing; the pasta was al dente; the miale was touched by truffle oil, the desserts were authentic. Top the evening off with the warm, fluid sound of live Spanish guitar in the background and you have the kind of dinner that makes you glad that you have no where else to be. We will be back."

  • "Every need was well attended to by Sonja, and she was a delight to share the time with. The music provided by Mr. Andre Feriante complimented the evening ever so perfectly. And the food was well prepared and delicious. I could not have asked for a better experience at il Bistro."

  • "Have been to the bar for drinks, but never to the restaurant; glad we finally did! Very cozy restaurant with white table cloths and very good service. We had a nice table for four and really enjoyed our dining experience! Food was very good, the chicken dish, pork chop, lasagne and the pasta special were all prepared well and enjoyed by our table! Definitely will return!!"

  • "My fiance and I come here fairly regularly for special occasions or date nights. Sunday March 30, was just such an occasion as I arranged for a surprise birthday get together for all of her local family. Our table was adorned with rose petals and the the staff greeted us as welcome family. Family waiting at the table, we came in and were immediately greeted and taken care of by Bryson, our favorite waiter. The whole evening was filled with great food, conversation and laughter. Thank you il Bistro for taking such great care of us! You helped make this a truly memorable evening. Brad"

  • "It Bistro is my go-to when seeing any show at the Showbox. Valet parking under the clock and a simply prepared menu that always wins. The late night offerings in the bar mean we come back after the show for a snack. This night we each had a salad -- the greens were good and the soup was great! Then we split a steak which was plenty! Nice wine list by the glass. We were seated in the "corridor" facing the bar which was pretty quiet, enough where we could talk and hear each other despite the restaurant filling up. Bar menu has small pasta plates."

  • "Pretty restaurant! I had the scallops special and it was delicious. The bolognese that my husband had was incredible. The lemon mascarpone dessert- I wish I could eat it every day. Great wine list too. So close to the waterfront and the market and our hotel- the Four Seasons. The only drawback was that the place was so cold, but I loved everything else."

  • "My wife and I were in Seattle from out of town and wanted to find a local restaurant for a very rare night out. Il Bistro had great reviews and we were really excited to try it. The presentation of the food was nice but I found my salmon to be undercooked and the flavor was bland. I ended up scraping the green toping off the salmon. Service was okay although we never got our drinks refilled. We had to ask the busboy for refills which only came at the end of our meal. Being in Seattle I expected exceptional salmon and for the cost I expected exceptional service. We were disappointed."

  • "Il Bistro is a fun restaurant and great for a date. Only quibble is that maybe is was a bit too dark. Still, you couldn't beat the atmosphere."

  • "The restaurant is right in the heart of Pikes Place Market, can't beat the location! Romantic ambience but a bit too dark; even the washroom was very dark that I could not see inside the stall. The food was okay, not bad but nothing too special. I ordered the seafood cioppino, it was VERY salty and the Dungeness crab pieces were not shelled, not even cracked. It was a special dinner with my husband and I definitely was not dressed appropriately to battle the hard shell. It was an interesting experience but I will try other restaurants first before I return to Il Bistro."

  • "IL BISTRO is tucked away at the start of Pike Place Market off of 1st and Pike. The service was superb and the ambiance was ideal for our anniversary. You can call ahead and request the romance package for your reservation and for $15 they sprinkle your table with rose petals and gce you two glasses of sparkling wine or cider. The service was great and the food was delicious. If you go you need to order the lasagna. Not only is it the best lasagna that has ever touched my tongue but you get a heaping slice for the price!"

  • "Wonderful food and service! We had two people in our party who have "special" requests - one lactose intolerant and the other a vegetarian - it was absolutely no problem. The only complaint, and it's a relatively minor one, is the lack of lighting. One of our party had a flashlight which I had to use to read the menu. This was our second visit to Il Bistro, and we'll definitely be back again."

  • "I specified a private table away from door, bathrooms and wait station. We were seated right next to the bar and as close to the door as you can get in full view of the people coming in and host station. Host graciously moved us. Thank goodness because a later a live guitarist would have been right next to us! The waiter seemed a bit stiff. Food was very good- caesar salad, tenderloin, tortellini (forgot pine nuts) gingerbread creme flan,… Waiter never came back to ask how the food was or if my husband's steak was done to his likeness. Major mistake for that caliber of restaurant. He also never gave or asked us if we wanted to hear about the specials, but heard him telling other diners. Bread would be better served warm, not cold."

  • "I heard about IL Bistro from a dear friend of mine. She told me this would be a perfect restaurant for a date night. I looked up your restaurant thru your website online and saw many great reviews. I immediately booked our special evening reservation with your romantic package. My boyfriend and I are always open to trying new restaurants and romantic places for our anniversary. This was a perfect place to dine for our special evening. Our server was wonderful! Very welcoming, helpful with choosing the perfect wine choice, and overall very well educated with each dish and wine option. I loved the romantic dim light setting, the reserved table with champagne and rose pedals, in a quiet corner location which is just what I had asked for!"

  • "I had booked this restaurant for me & my husband hoping we would get an beautiful experience. They only thing I thought that was caring of them was they offered to take our coats & also offered us a towel considering we had walked there in the rain (& we were dressed up) We do look young so I don't know if maybe they thought we were lying about it being our 1 year anniversary. We got seated at I would think the worst table in the house. It was very awkwardly placed in the restaurant by the kitchen & everyone else seemed to have more of a romantic mood setting. the windows were open & though it was dark & set for the mood, the lights from the cars at pikes kept shining in our eyes. other than all that, it was in my opinion a nice experience..."

  • "Hello, big date night....made reservations....got there.....waited for 20 minutes to get seated, no waiting area to speak of....so was basically sitting in the middle of the diners....uncomfortable and the food did not make up for it. The table we got was not ideal either, just outside the bar right by the stairs. Not exactly romantic (which is what this place is supposed to be). Let down by Il Bistro. Lamb was good, but did not make up for the let down."

  • "In a day and age where service seems to be all but dead, it lives on at Il Bistro. We were out-of-towners spending Valentine's Day weekend in Seattle, so jumped on the opportunity to have a fancy dinner out. It was hard to find Il Bistro - we ended up asking a Pike Place Security Guard and he gladly just walked us that way and showed us. The doors didn't open until right at 5PM when we had a reservation for, but we were somewhat confused if it would open then because the doors posted hours say it doesn't open until 5:30. But, once inside the staff we ready and willing to help and were attentive and pleasant. The meal was good and looked beautiful. I'm not quite sure it was worth the price - but it was a gem of an experience!"

  • "Looking for a perfect dining experience? Il Bistro has it all - it's Italian ambiance, the solid and very tasty food served with a flair. A pleasant surprise in Pike Market. Above all, it's genuine, nothing artificial, just superb quality and warm hospitality with fine service but not intrusive. Pleasant music in the background you can have a normal conversation. Will we want to come back? Of course, and we also will recommend Il Bistro to all our friends."

  • "I had the salmon and it was amazing. However their accompaniments to their meals seem random and don't exactly help accent the taste. Our server did not seem I have much knowledge about thier wine selection as he just recommended whichever was most expensive. I may also may be dealing with my server adjusting my tip amount, since my bank currently is telling me Il Bistro has an amount "pending" that is much more than I signed my receipt for..."

  • "Great atmosphere was the first indicator to a good night. Romantic and intimate- not a bad seat in the house. Service was outstanding, very knowledgeable and polite. The food was 6 stars, seriously. Amazing quality! Its a nice bistro, a little more than the everyday spot, so prices are higher than some people may be used to. Dinner for two, plus drinks and dessert ran me about $110- Not Bad! I ended up tipping an extra $50 because I was so blown away by the food and service. I recommend- The filetto di manzo, the Linguini di mare, and for dessert there was this fabulous cinnamon flavored flan (cotta) with roasted walnuts that was to die for"
