Diner Reviews
  • "Food and price level didn't match the beat up tables, bright lights, loud noise level and cheap chairs. This place needs a facelift before I go back."

  • "the piano/keyboard player was fantastic - Ricky - and the food was delicious and our waiter was great - service was 100%."

  • "Haven't been to Dilly in awhile but everything is excellent as always! Met a friend for a late lunch. Dined inside as it was a bit warm outside but typically love their patio. I had the Bourbon Burger and the combined flavors were very good. My friend had the other burger and really liked it as well. The fries are sooo good! I took some of their famous beer cheese home to share later with my hubby. He was very appreciative and it is probably the best beer cheese around!"

  • "Outstanding lunch menu with variety to fit all appetites."

  • "I love Dilly. The creative cuisine is outstanding and affordable. My favorite, the salmon burger, is made of salmon filets, not chopped salmon full of filler and mayonnaise. The sweet potato fries are perfect, just the touch of sweetness and salt needed. The service was wonderful. And the fact that my friend's birthday was recognized and honored with a fantastic dessert was the perfect ending."

  • "My discriminating boyfriend loved it. Mariemont gem-impressed him both in wine and food selections. We had a lovely dinner on the patio, thanks to the very mild August weather. We noted the fireplace and decided this will be an excellent fall destination. He selected the Pine Ridge 12 Chenin Blanc-Viognier-perfect for summer. They were out of the salmon burger, so I opted for the salmon entree which did not disappoint. Tables were full, but not so much that it hindered service-still a relaxing Wednesday night. Our table was in front of the speaker-probably won't do that again. Though kid friendly, there were a few too many. A few dogs had words which was more entertaining than anything. We just wished we planned for more time."

  • "I've supported the Deli since it was in old Mariemont square. This will be my last visit. Too many bad things to list on my last two visits. Food was bad - dry, flavorless salmon burger; didn't get everything we ordered; fries burnt; sparkling wine served in wine glasses because the flutes were all broken? Bench pad stained/dirty; gave us a metal folding chair at end of our table. Wine shop doesn't sell wine gift bags or have Any ribbon. Worker in wine shop agreed how crazy it is and they don't make wine gift baskets anymore? Owner not interested in customer service or any feedback. Get a real chef or manager"

  • "Dilly Deli (as it used to be known) is a quirky spot, casual, with a very good wine and beer selection. The menu ranges from burgers to more sophisticated fare, and they have a "hold-the-gluten" menu. My new favorite is a grilled shrimp and asparagus salad. There is live music most evenings - sometimes a little loud - but always good. It is packed on weekends, so make a reservation if you can. Otherwise, you can stand at or near the bar and enjoy a glass of whatever while you wait."

  • "Great food. Friendly staff. Sundays they do a neighborhood night. If you live in the 45227 zip code you get 27% off. Extensive beer and wine selection which features the local microbreweries. We come at least once a week."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "The food had really deteriorated over the past two years as they lost their chef and the new one dropped some great items and the quality we believe deteriorated...so we had stopped coming. We tried it again last week and found it on the road back. We were told a former chef was returning so hopefully the found will continue to rebound"

  • "We don't know what's changed, but the food and service weren't near as good as before. The steak was fatty and came ten minutes after the other meals. The bacon quiche had no bacon in it. We were surprised that our meals were not comped after the issues we had."

  • "Last summer I was at "The Dilly" with my Son and Wife. The evening began when our waitress dumped an entire, cold beer in my lap. She and the manager were concerned--but in the end, although we were given a free round of drinks and dessert--we were asked to pay for our meal, which--looking back seems inadequate. On the visit this week, I took 4 out-of-town business friends to "The Dilly" for dinner. I wanted them to experience unique Cincinnati. Service was terrible. I ordered a large salad and small plate crab-cakes for my meal. The crab-cakes were brought out and slammed on the table before any other food was brought out. We asked for bread--it came out with the check. I will not return to this restaurant soon."

  • "Dilly never lets us down, such a wide range of delicious menu items all prepared exquisitely, extensive wine and craft beer list, and excellent service. The Sesame encrusted ahi tuna entree is a must-try! It's our go-to for birthday dinners, date nights, mother's day brunches, et cetera."

  • "Food was great, nice fresh food, waitress was friendly. Ate outside and especially liked the music of the three piece band. Not too loud, they were great."

  • "- Very relaxed and casual - Great location in the heart of historic Mariemont - Staff friendly - Menu limited - would benefit from a more extensive entrée menu - Unnecessary delay in taking orders and in delivering food - Server took order without writing it down - got one order wrong. Took a very long time to replace - rest of group had finished their meal when it arrived. While it was appreciated that the replacement was free - it took away from the experience. - Server did not check back as often as optimal during the meal. - Food good - not exceptional - Food was not as hot as it should be. - Price reasonable - servings could be slightly larger. Would go again but would like to see some small changes."

  • "We had a wonderful get together to celebrate a special event. Some guests were delayed due to rush hour traffic & we appreciated that there wasn't an issue seating them once they arrived. The menu was diverse enough to satisfy each of the 10 members in our party! Each item was cooked to our specific requests. The drink menu had a good range of prices & choices. Our service was very good & with that many people, sometimes that's hard to do. It was a beautiful night and we were able to sit outside which made our dining experience that much better. Additionally, there was background music provided by a single musician that was just right. It was nice to have the music & yet still be able to carry on a conversation. We will eat here again."

  • "Cozy and friendly atmosphere. A fun atmosphere. Good variety of food options. The live band was playing some great music, but our table was too close to the band so conversation was difficult."

  • "I have been to the Dilly cafe several times before and had always been very impressed with the food, service, and value. However, after this most recent visit, I will not be returning for quite a while. The beer cheese appetizer was always one of their best, but they have changed the bread it comes with, which is now cold, hard, and flavorless. Service was slow at times and our waitress made several mistakes with our orders throughout the evening. All but one of the beers we ordered were served to us quite warm (even the draft beers). My boyfriend's burger was overcooked and others at our table who ordered fish dishes were given rather small portions of the meat, which left us feeling like the dishes were not worth the price. "

  • "First time here last Friday with another couple. What a find! Our daughter had been here many times with friends and told us it was great. We should have listened and come here a couple years ago. Each of us had a different entre, and all were delighted. The wine and beer list was extensive. A jazz duo played music in the background, and they were wonderful. It was truly great to have live music, but played at a level where it was pleasant and you could still have conversation with tablemates without yelling to be heard. There was a great patio for outdoor dining, but the weather was changeable the night we visited, so we opted to eat inside. We will be here again, and soon. We LOVED IT!"

  • "Dilly has gotten expensive and it's menu is not as good as it used to be. That said, it's not a bad place for dinner. Live music seems to always be the same type of music. Don't sit too close to the band or you'll be yelling across the table in order to be heard."

  • "Have eaten here for years. This last experience was not a good one. Ordered a Mediterannean plate; one of the 5 offered items was missing. They were out of it. Never mentioned it. The seasoning mentioned in the description of the pita bread was omitted. The feta and red peppers (diced) each would fill one tablespoon. Ordered the special soup of the evening: tomato. Tasted as if they had opened a can of diced tomatoes in juice. My husband's crab cake dinner (he always orders this) consisted of three tiny cakes, and 3 shriveled up, charred little asparagus. The gin he always orders? They were out of that. Spoke with the manager and learned they have a new chef."

  • "Husband and I were looking for a new spot for a date night dinner. The food was great. We had the beer cheese appitizer with apple slices. We would also recommend the burboun burger and the black bean burger!"

  • "Enjoyed a nice meal - a wonderful striped bass preparation for me and my husband was extremely happy with his side salad, burger and sweet potato fries, uniquely served with apple butter. That was a surprising and delicious combination."

  • "Had a wonderful lunch the other day when an old friend was in from out of town. We used to come here for lunch so it was a special treat. You've really got to try the Mariemont Gobbler!"

  • "Thursdays are always one of my favorite nights here. Steve plays jazz guitar loud enough to hear yet soft enough to continue a conversation. What a nice complement to the always very good food, drink and service! This night I enjoyed again the Chicken Marsala: Excellent! Know that they've started doing some enticing prix fixe dinners too."

  • "Dilly Cafe is always an enjoyable experience. We went on a Saturday night for dinner and enjoyed a very good meal as well as a great jazz band whose sounds did not overwhelm the space, but provided the perfect ambience to allow converstation while also enjoying the music. The basa appetizer was unusual and delicious, and the almond bread pudding was divine. In milder weather we always enjoy dining outside near the fireplace."

  • "My husband and I split the cheese tray for an appetizer, then we split the goat cheese and beet salad, then we split the salmon entree. All was great. We had a very nice bottle of Pouilly Fusse wine. Highly recommend this little neighborhood gem."

  • "I have dined here before, and enjoyed the tuna steak. I tried the salmon burger this time, and my boyfriend tried the roast beef sandwich. Neither of us were impressed. We were happy with the selection of Pull N Pray beers and the cider list, however, so all was not lost."

  • "Dilly Deli is a cute, casual restaurant in the heart of historic Mariemont. I have often enjoyed wine and dinner on the patio in the warmer months. However on this occasion, the ambiance was regrettable. We were seated on the edge of the dining area right next to a very loud group of family and friends that were spilling over into the neighboring areas. Several small children were running around. I was actually hit in the arm by a flying bracelet from one of the rambunctious girls. I ordered the nicoise salad with seared fresh tuna. There were fresh greens, tasty shallot vinaigrette, sinew-free, warm tuna. Perfect. Also green beans, hard-boiled eggs, and tomato. My husband enjoyed the beer-battered fish fry and a dark beer."
