Diner Reviews
  • "Nice, fairly traditional look with live music that did not drown out conversation even though we were only 30 feet from the band We went with steaks all of which were perfectly cooked ranging from Rare-Mid Rare. Unlike most high end Steak houses you also get 3 sides and they are very good. The skin on mashed potatoes were excellent, the creamed corn was superb and I don't even like creamed corn, I did understand the tomato and green onion side. Would recommend their excellent burrata and tomato appetizer. The only negative for the whole night was the creamed spinach, they leave the leaves whole which end up being just a creamy mess. Overall, not a Peter Luger steak but one of the top 3 or 4 steak houses I have ever been too."

  • "III Forks was just outstanding in every way. The food was great, the service was impecable and all of the added touch's for our special occasion were taken care of. I have already recommended this restaurant to all of my friends since we had dinner."

  • "Nice place. Good steaks. Nice wine list. Great service."

  • "III Forks served one of the better filet mignon steaks I've had in a while. The restaurant is nicely laid out, energetic, clean and well staffed."

  • "The restaurant is at a great corner location with valet parking or public parking across the street. The ambiance is a bit too dark. Dim lighting made it difficult to read the menu. The staff were professional, knowledgable. The prices reflect the quality. Here, you get what you pay for! The boneless ribeye with the kings butter (you gotta have the kings butter) was perfectly prepared to my specifications. It was a great cut of beef and the seasoning did not overtake the flavor of the beef itself and was paired with an Argentenian Malbec . The timing between appetizers and dinner was commendable and the food was fresh and delivered by four waitstaff. Food presentation was awesome. Another patron a delicious looking swordfish."

  • "A fine steak house. Excellent wine list though a bit pricey. Service attentive though a bit pretentious."

  • "This has become one of my favorites in the Austin area. The Filet Mignon was as great as it was the last time. The service was tops as usual. The Double Cut Pork Chops had an inviting look and were well spoken of by my companion for dinner."

  • "The first time we came to this restaurant we had a fabulous waiter, Thomas. He was incredible. We ordered the Kings butter (which was to die for). We could not stop talking about this place and came back within a couple weeks. Requested the same waiter and had an incredible night. The food was 100% more than you could imagine. Perfect steak, and that butter....."

  • "Great food and wonderful service. The only complaint I have is sitting in the middle of a room as a party of two. The table was more appropriate for a non private party with more than two people. We were celebrating a special occasion and the seating placement was awkward."

  • "It was our first time there, and we had great expectations. The steak was good, but not great. We also ordered a wedge salad, and it was the most pitiful wedge salad I have ever seen. In general, the ambiance, food and service were OK, but not up to par with the price. Fome the same money, I would prefer Eddy V's, Flemmings or Bob's, for example.."

  • "The wine list is amazing, the food spectacular and the service, what can I say! The staff at III Forks really made the evening one to remember. My husband had mentioned we were celebrating because I had landed a new job and Austin, our waiter, was very sweet and congratulated me and we chatted for a little while about it. After we had finished our amazing meal we ordered some dessert and the manager came out with two Irish Creams and said, that he had heard that congratulations were in order and that the Bartender makes his own Irish Cream which is their version of rocket science (my new job is at NASA). AND THEN 5 minutes later the hostess came out with a camera and offered to take a picture to record the occasion."

  • "We went to III Forks Austin to celebrate my mother in law's 75th birthday. We had a party of 7 for a 6:00 reservation. They did an excellent job catering to the birthday lady. The wait staff was awesome, making suggestions to making our dining experince more enjoyable. HIghly recommend for a special occasion."

  • "This was my first time dining at III Forks. I usually don't venture downtown too often. But, everyone I talked to absolutely raved about this place. So, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Man have I been missing out! Simply put, my 10 ounce Fillet was PERFECT. It might actually be THE best steak I've ever tasted. The service was impeccable, timely, and very professional. There was a nice 3-man band playing next to the bar which made for a festive atmosphere, but, it wasn't so loud that it drowned out casual conversation. This restaurant is now firmly in my Top 5 list of Austin restaurants."

  • "We were a group of 12 people dining in their Poker Room during SXSW and the service and food was outstanding. They catered to all our needs and everyone in our party walked away raving about their meals. Perfect for our occasion and would definitely recommend."

  • "Everything was exceptional. From the perfectly cooked steaks to the delicious dessert, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting. Service was awesome, from our server to the kind managers who brought us a great signature cocktail. We loved every second of our dining experience at III Forks."

  • "Was in Austin for a weekend getaway with my husband and decided to have a romantic dinner here. It was fabulous! Our waiter, Trevor, was fantastic and he had the sommelier come over to help us with our wine selection which ended up being wonderful! The food was fantastic. I had a filet and my husband had the Mahi special, both plates were delicious. Our only complaint was with the dessert. We ordered the bread pudding, which was more like a cake. The cinnamon ice cream was wonderful, but the cake/pudding was a bit tough. I like my bread pudding a bit more moist and soft. Other than that we had a wonderful time!"

  • "Our meal was just perfect. And you want a wow factor- order the tomahawk steak! My husband did and he didn't regret it for a moment! I had the filet and that was great too"

  • "Enjoyed an early dinner before attending musical at Bass Concert Hall. We arrived before the 5:30 p.m. valet service as we had a 5 p.m. reservation. Since it was SXSW all over the area and parking was scarce near the restaurant, it was difficult to find a spot which pushed our sitting down to dinner late. It would've been nice for the restaurant to have the three metered spots in front of the restaurant reserved for its early dining patrons instead of general parking. Please consider for the future..."

  • "My husband and I were very pleased with the service and the food. The selection of wines by the glass was extensive, and the waiter allowed me to sample them, even though I only ordered 2 glasses. We did not try the appetizers, but our salads were great and our main dishes were even better. My husband had the double, bone-in pork chop. It was cooked perfectly to his specifications, and had a wonderful peach sauce with a kick. My fillet had a wonderful pepper blend rub that really brought out the flavor of the meat, which also was cooked perfectly. The only dissappointment was dessert. We had the chocolate cake, which tasted fine, but was not as extraordinary as the rest of our meal."

  • "I enjoyed my meal as one of the best in a long time. Rack of Lamb was prepared perfectly and although prices are a little bit higher than average steakhouse, all of the sides are included- which made it a great deal!"

  • "Delicious, perfectly cooked steak and wonderful service. I have been eating at III Forks for a long time, and they have those things plus a great wine list and knowledgable staff."

  • "You cannot go wrong at III Forks. The food and service is always superb! A bit pricey for Austin standards, but certainly worth it. Just be careful that off-menu items can be twice as much as some regular entrees. Also, the serving portions are very large, so it is easy to end up with a lot of unseated sides left on the table (which will certainly be equally delicious at home). In many visits I've never had a server who has been anything less than outstanding."

  • "I can't recommend III Forks. It is like any other high end steakhouse and there are SO MANY more interesting places in Austin. I'm sorry that we wasted an evening there."

  • "I've eaten at nearly every steakhouse in town and as much as I'd like to give a nod to one of Austin's old guard, I just can't. I've never had a bad meal here. The Filet melts in your mouth and is never over-spiced. My wife had the burger and while there may be one or two here in town that beat it, it is well worth it if you just want a great steakhouse burger and fries. The atmosphere is always quiet and the ambience is upscale. The III Forks bar is excellent too. Great date-night restaurant or business dinner locale, or when you just want a great steak."

  • "Great meal with a nice selection of wine and meal pairings. Steak melted in my mouth. Always order rarer than you prefer as the plate allows you to heat (and cook to perfection) while you savor your dinner. Sauteed spinach was a nice add to the creamed corn, mashed potatoes, pea pods, and fresh tomatoes. Kelly, our waiter, made sure our appetizer (crab cake - Yum!) and salad arrived in the right order without rushing us to the finish line."

  • "Our waiter Eric was outstanding! When we arrived, we gave him a $100 gift certificate we had received from a friend for Christmas and asked that it be applied to our bill for the four of us. Our son-in-law insisted on paying for dinner, and we all forgot about the gift certificate, which Eric had taken earlier, and he forgot to apply it to our bill. He later called and left a message on our home phone, apologizing and letting us know he had issued a credit for $100 on the credit card used. Much appreciated, but we would have given him 5 stars even without this!"

  • "A leader in the quality of service resteraunt world. Kelly gave great advice and was always attentive. Best wine list I have seen in Austin. Tomahawk w/ Kings butter was amazing "Dinosauer" bone as some say. Tender and luscious. Bone in Filet was also top of its game. Dirty martinis were on point and the timelyness of the after dinner drinks were perfect. The chocolate cake is slow light and amazing 2 days later I am still thinking I want more. Kings butter was made by angels."

  • "I would like to compliment Brandon our waiter. He provided great service and the most notable service he did was to return my credit card while I was leaving III forks. I had forgotten to get my card and he ran to find me leaving and returned it . Thanks Brandon."

  • "We have been a III Forks diner for some time now and we feel it truly has that steakhouse ambience of perfectly lit interiors with dark woods and leather, spacious and comfortable booths and tables, extremely attentive staff with a no-rush way about them, a great wine list with a prominently visible wine cellar, and, of course, superbly prepared prime steaks. Even better, the sides are included! On our most recent visit, the staff noted it was our anniversary and provided us with an after dinner drink that was both unexpected and delicious. We have tried other steakhouses in Austin and have regretted it, returning with our heads held low and apologizing to the General Manager for having strayed. A truly "must-go-and-enjoy" steakhouse!"

  • "My wife recently dined at III Forks Austin on a Sunday evening. We enjoyed our entire experience. The ambience, service, food quality and pace of the meal were excellent. Our server offered helpful suggestions without being pushy. The service was prompt and efficient and the quality of the food was memorable. We shall definitely return in the future."

  • "III Forks is always a great place for friends and family to get a great meal and dining experience. Ernest and his staff are awesome!!"

  • "It was III Forks lite. A filet was not cooked to the proper temperature; the creamed corn was undercooked (it was crunchy); the rack of lamb presentation has been changed. Now 4 ribs of large chops instead of 8 ribs of true baby lamb as had previously been served for many years. Previously exceptional lamb; now just good."

  • "One of the best meals I've ever had. The only downside was the creamed corn, which wasn't bad, just not outstanding. Our steaks were perfect. The creamed spinach alone is worth coming back for. Not to mention our server was super nice. We went to celebrate a birthday, and were clearly out of our element in a swanky place, but our server made us feel very comfortable and welcome. I plan to come back for the next birthday."

  • "The ambiance, the service, and the food at three forks were all top notch. The highlight of the appetizer was a scallop drenched in homemade bacon jam. The food was cooked without overbearing sauces , and was delicious, the G Manager came by our table several times to check on us, the service was incredible. We both had appetizers, a main course, dessert and drinks for under 170, a bargain considering how good ever aspect of the experience was. We HIGHLY reccomend Three Forks !!"

  • "There was way too much dressing on the salad. I could hardly bear to eat it. We also received false information from two different employees. They told us we would be able to order off the regular dinner menu on Valentines Day, but when we were seated the waitress informed us it was a selective menu. We came specifically for items off the other menu and were not pleased. Also, the waitress was very stuck-up and made us feel uncomfortable. We could tell she was annoyed that we didn't order the Valentine's option."

  • "Thomas was our waiter. He was very slow, almost with everything. We did not order wine at which point the wine glasses should have been removed from our table, but they were left on the table until AFTER the salads were served and only AFTER I had to ask him to remove them. Steaks were not cooked the way we ordered them. Sauce on the fish of the day was overpowering and had to be scraped off taking with it the lump crab topping. The dirty dishes were left on the table until very long after we were all finished eating. Thomas did offer and serve us all a complimentary after dinner drink, which was delicious as was the Chilean Sea Bass."
