Diner Reviews
  • "Went for dinner with friends before a show. Service was attentive and timely. Drinks and appetizers were brought quickly. Entrees were brought in plenty of time for us to make the show, but not so fast as to rush us. Water glasses were refilled regularly. The food was terrific and the chef was flexible on spiciness. Fabulous margaritas and good mojitos."

  • "I've been to Iguana's several times and find that it's a nice space if you are considering dinner and dancing in a single venue. Good for groups and special occasions. Food is solidly good. They also are located close to major subway and a car park so it's convenient as well. For this particular evening the hostess named Maritza was very courteous and thoughtful to myself and guests."

  • "Iguana is a frequent choice when we attend a show. The atmosphere is relaxed, and even when every table is full it's not particularly noisy. the food is reliably good, and so is the service."

  • "Our server was a little clueless and didn't honor any of the specials promoted by Cabaret at Studio 54, even though we told her that we were going to the show and asked about promotions. The food is as tasty as it was when I went 2 years ago. You can have dinner in 1-1.5hours and make it to a show no problem. They have vegetarian options and I'd be curious to check out the dancing, sometime."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We sat outside and the services was slow and the people inside in the bar behind Us were so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. The ice wAter was room temp with no ice. I ordered the steak fajitas and they had zero flavor. Not sure we will go again. "

  • "If you want some light fare and a great place for the whole family in the early afternoon this is it! We wanted a little something before a 2pm matinee. We had 8 people ranging in age from 6 to 86 and everyone enjoyed. Good food, good service and great ambience!"

  • "We have been to Iguana many times, and they never disappoint. The guac that's made table-side, to order, is delicious. I tend to order the same thing, which is the crispy chicken, which is moist and flavorful from the cilantro, lime and garlic marinade, and has the crispiest skin imaginable. It's served with chipotle mashed potatoes and sautéed string beans...heavenly! My husband ordered the grilled loin of pork - it was tender as could be and was topped with chipotle cranberry Cabernet reduction served with roasted yukon gold potatoes, sautéed string beans and carrots. The waiters were attentive, and the setting is beautiful. I love the artwork, some by Botero, as well as the overall beauty of the room. I'm glad we ate at Iguana...AGAIN! "

  • "The Iguana has been our dinner spot when we visit NYC for years. We were short on time this trip so opted for late lunch. The service was very slow. Cups were dirty and the food took forever to get even though we were the only people in the restaurant. "

  • "Grabbed a bite before a show. Had a regular and preshow specialty menu. Loved everything about it and the drinks were awesome. "

  • "I have eaten at Iguana at least 5 times this year, because I go to hear the Nighthawks on Mondays and Tuesdays. One night I ordered an avocado salad. The lettuce was tired, warm and dry. The avocado barely rated as an avocado. There was no attempt to make this appetizing and I would have preferred eating my way across the front lawn. Most recently I made 8:00 reservations through OpenTable, showed up at 7:50 pm, was seated, given menus and left completely alone while the couple next to us were served a whole dinner. Finally at 8:40 pm I got up and found the manager at the bar. I told him, we have been seated at our table for forty-five minutes and no one has even taken our order for drinks. After that we saw our waiter for the first time."

  • "Iguana is just a few doors east, with a very popular bar. I've always enjoyed margaritas and meals there over the years; their service is attentive and their food and drinks are great."

  • "And it went downhill from there. Ordered bottle of wine. Received a glass. Ordered Chilli Con Queso. Got a bowl of cheese sauce with no chips. Waited 10 minutes after table was cleared and finally had to walk over to bar to pay tab before leaving. Food average to below average."

  • "Went for pre-theater dinner which had a choice of three entrees. Meal took over 90 minutes to be served and only came after we complained three times. Never even had a chance to have the included desserts. When we asked to speak with the manager, he actually said "don't you see how busy we are? What do you want me to do?" There seems to be factory line approach with a non-caring foreman. "

  • "Dining experience was great. Everyone was friendly and efficient. Guacamole was delicious also recommend coconut mojitos. Music and ambience upstairs was great. "

  • "Considering the fact that this restaurant is in the theatre district one would think they'd be sensitive to the fact that early diners may be under some time constraint and be sure to pace the meal accordingly. They never asked and we had little chance to tell them -- I was a good 10-15 minutes after we sat down before anyone approached the table. Then we ordered our entrees along with our beverages right up front and indicated that we were in a hurry. Still took another 30 minutes to get our food which was passable."

  • "My husband and I went for early dinner after a 2:30 off Broadway play. Great Sangria! At the table our waiter made us guacamole made to our liking. Great atmosphere. "

  • "We went for a business lunch with a colleague and loved the place! It was incredibly sunny so we sat at a table on the sidewalk terrace (otherwise I think the inside would have been quite cute/cozy), and between the freshest guacamole and the delicious spicy steak and avocado wrap, my only regret is that I did not get to taste the margaritas!"

  • "We have been here a few times and it was ok for a large group. This time, it was less than mediocre. The service was terrible and the food wwas not great. I will not return here ever again."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "The food was average. It's a typical Mexican restaurant with lots of margarita choices which was greatly appreciated. The server seemed to be the only one working so he was very busy and rarely came by. Then again, we stayed a long time and had a lot of requests. I really liked that there was a dance floor downstairs that had salsa and merengue. No cover on certain nights. Go for drinks and appetizers and then head to the basement for dancing."

  • "The food was great! We went as a group to drink and have a good time. The drinks were a bit expensive but the music was great! I would visit this place again."

  • "I have eaten at Iguana on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed as I was this time. The food was very mediocre, the frozen ice cream was not fresh, the service was terrible and it wasn't even that busy an evening. The food used to be quite good, perhaps they have a new chef, I don't know, but if I return it will only be for the margaritas."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "The margaritas were very tasty & came in a large variety of flavors. Enjoyed the food. Guacamole too salty and medium level bland. The chicken & shrimp tacos & enchiladas were great. Too full for dessert. VERY noisy. Good place pre-theater. A good value"

  • "The hostess was very nice and the bar and restaurant scene was good. The food took forever to get to us, but the waiter was apologetic cuze they were super busy. The margaritas were awesome! Kinda expensive for okay food. Cuze we had dinner there we got into the clubs for free. The bouncers were awesome and the scene was interesting. A good mix of people and guys and girls. A little bit older than I expected. The music was hot!"

  • "We had a great time here for our friends birthday. The mariachi band even serenaded her when they found out it was her birthday. The food was good I liked the calamari a lot. My only complaint was that we had to wait a while, about 30 minutes, to be seated even though we had reservations"

  • "We used to really love iguana. Our server Isabel, was not friendly, and fairly personality free. We waited a long time for anyone to come over, then her first comment was "what do you want to drink". We asked for water three times before we received it, after the appetizers had come. The steak was over cooked. We never saw her again. We ordered table side guacamole, asked for it spicy, no taste in it whatsoever, let alone heat. We had to ask some other random person for the check (I think this was the gentlemen arguing with the manager about his shift meal that was sitting on the table next to us).The drinks were bland, the food was tasteless and the people unfriendly."

  • "We went to Iguana early in the evening (5:00 or so) in order to get to a 7:00 show on a Tuesday. It was essentially empty and quite quiet. Although this is not good or bad, that kind of middle of the road, not good / not bad feeling pervaded the meal. First of all, the service was very good. Our waiter was attentive, but (then again) he had nothing else to do. The Raspberry Margaritas were good, but not great. Same to be said for the food (bland salsa for the chips, which had no "kick" at all; I even had to ask for jalapenos for my fajitas!). At the end of the day, not worth the price for the meal. Hopefully, for Iguana's sake, it was an off night, or perhaps the place livens up later in the evening, but I won't be going back."

  • "We used to be frequent patrons of Iguana but some time back we noticed a decline in the quality of the food. Well after a couple of recent visits we can report the food is again great. Service on this Sunday night was a tad slow, not customary for Iguana, but Sunday is a relatively slow night anyway. It was great fun and dinner was enjoyed by all in our party. Wandering mariachi are absent Sunday nights, either good or bad depending on your preference."

  • "Whenever we go to NY we try to make it to this restaurant. The food and drinks are delish and ambience is great. Don't forget to order the guacomole!! They make it table side."
