We went for a business lunch with
a colleague and loved the place! It was incredibly sunny so we sat at a table on the sidewalk terrace (otherwise I think the inside would have been quite cute/cozy), and between the freshest guacamole and the delicious spicy steak and avocado wrap, my only regret is that I did not get to taste the margaritas!"

We have been here a few times and
it was ok for a large group. This time, it was less than mediocre. The service was terrible and the food wwas not great. I will not return here ever again."
Dined on 4/13/2014
The food was average. It's a
typical Mexican restaurant with lots of margarita choices which was greatly appreciated. The server seemed to be the only one working so he was very busy and rarely came by. Then again, we stayed a long time and had a lot of requests. I really liked that there was a dance floor downstairs that had salsa and merengue. No cover on certain nights. Go for drinks and appetizers and then head to the basement for dancing."
Dined on 4/13/2014
The food was great! We went as a
group to drink and have a good time. The drinks were a bit expensive but the music was great! I would visit this place again."
Dined on 4/12/2014
Delicious food! Guacamole made at
your table...great margarita flavors and cocktail choices and even a Mariachi band!"
Dined on 4/11/2014
I have eaten at Iguana on multiple
occasions and have never been disappointed as I was this time. The food was very mediocre, the frozen ice cream was not fresh, the service was terrible and it wasn't even that busy an evening. The food used to be quite good, perhaps they have a new chef, I don't know, but if I return it will only be for the margaritas."
Dined on 4/10/2014
The margaritas were very tasty &
came in a large variety of flavors. Enjoyed the food. Guacamole too salty and medium level bland. The chicken & shrimp tacos & enchiladas were great. Too full for dessert. VERY noisy. Good place pre-theater. A good value"
Dined on 4/11/2014
The hostess was very nice and the
bar and restaurant scene was good. The food took forever to get to us, but the waiter was apologetic cuze they were super busy. The margaritas were awesome! Kinda expensive for okay food. Cuze we had dinner there we got into the clubs for free. The bouncers were awesome and the scene was interesting. A good mix of people and guys and girls. A little bit older than I expected. The music was hot!"

We had a great time here for our
friends birthday. The mariachi band even serenaded her when they found out it was her birthday. The food was good I liked the calamari a lot. My only complaint was that we had to wait a while, about 30 minutes, to be seated even though we had reservations"
Dined on 3/29/2014
We used to really love iguana. Our
server Isabel, was not friendly, and fairly personality free. We waited a long time for anyone to come over, then her first comment was "what do you want to drink". We asked for water three times before we received it, after the appetizers had come. The steak was over cooked. We never saw her again. We ordered table side guacamole, asked for it spicy, no taste in it whatsoever, let alone heat. We had to ask some other random person for the check (I think this was the gentlemen arguing with the manager about his shift meal that was sitting on the table next to us).The drinks were bland, the food was tasteless and the people unfriendly."

First time here. Was with two
other women. We each loved our drinks: margarita, mojito, sangria. Food was great. Very convenient to Roundabout Theatre."

We went to Iguana early in the
evening (5:00 or so) in order to get to a 7:00 show on a Tuesday. It was essentially empty and quite quiet. Although this is not good or bad, that kind of middle of the road, not good / not bad feeling pervaded the meal. First of all, the service was very good. Our waiter was attentive, but (then again) he had nothing else to do. The Raspberry Margaritas were good, but not great. Same to be said for the food (bland salsa for the chips, which had no "kick" at all; I even had to ask for jalapenos for my fajitas!). At the end of the day, not worth the price for the meal. Hopefully, for Iguana's sake, it was an off night, or perhaps the place livens up later in the evening, but I won't be going back."
Dined on 3/25/2014
Will come again for bar menu and
drinks. Decoration and service good, but not my favorite Mexican place."
Dined on 3/22/2014
We used to be frequent patrons of
Iguana but some time back we noticed a decline in the quality of the food. Well after a couple of recent visits we can report the food is again great. Service on this Sunday night was a tad slow, not customary for Iguana, but Sunday is a relatively slow night anyway. It was great fun and dinner was enjoyed by all in our party. Wandering mariachi are absent Sunday nights, either good or bad depending on your preference."

Whenever we go to NY we try to
make it to this restaurant. The food and drinks are delish and ambience is great. Don't forget to order the guacomole!! They make it table side."
Dined on 3/12/2014
I was going to a premiere at the
Ziegfeld and looked up a restaurant nearby to grab some drinks and a bite with a friend beforehand. The decor of Iguana is great, as if nearly everything else. We were there for a late lunch/early dinner about 4:30, the place is huge and was pretty empty. We were taking our time ordering, but the service was slightly lacking - I mean, we were the only ones there practically. The food, however, was fantastic. Very fresh and came out pretty quickly. Great drink menu as well and very reasonably priced. Was a great find up in an area that's mostly overpriced, overcrowded, and overrated."
Dined on 3/13/2014
The food is great. Along with the
service very attentive to customers"
Dined on 3/11/2014
Pretty good place. This wasy
second time and I still liked it. Mexican is always a winner. Decent prices and good margaritas ;)"
Dined on 3/12/2014
Food was good but service was
slow. There were only 3 tables in and it took a few tries to get water and the check."
Dined on 3/9/2014
The food and service were great.
But my blind date was boring! :("
Dined on 3/8/2014
This was my first time at Iguana
and it was fantastic. I was surprised at how big the space was, yet it felt cozy, inviting, and vibrant. The food was great and they have a huge drink menu. Although I didn't sit at the bar, it was packed. It seems to be a really popular place, and I can see why. I will definitely be back."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Brought our 1 year old here and it
was great! Waiter was so nice and attentive. Food was great!"
Dined on 3/4/2014
Service was top notch - friendly
and attentive without being intrusive. My friend asked for a substitution on his order and was accommondated. One small complaint - the table was a little small. It was very crowded when the entrees arrived."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Even after reservations, getting a
table was long and our server had difficult communication skills and the desert was very hard and cold and when asked to take it back to warm it up, we just got a new plate of the same cold and hard brownie."

Iguana is a large restaurant (for
New York), capable of seating 200 diners. For this reason it is ideal for groups hosting a large number of guests. (There were four separate birthday celebrations, and a wedding party happening while I was there.) Unfortunately, all this chaos and noise--which included a very loud live Mariachi band playing nearby--detracted from the overall ambience, and the over-the-top "Mexican" decor didn't help either. This was more Mexican-themed restaurant than authentic south-of-the-border cuisine. The menu was ho-hum, with only a few dishes, all of them standard fare for a Mexican restaurant. The portions were quite small, and my classic margarita was very weak. The groups around me seemed to be having a good time."

Went there on Valentine's Day.
Great meal and service. Guacamole was excellent. Drinks were a little small but good. The place has a nice vibe..."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I came here on Valentines day, the
service was great. Their guacamole is one of the best I have ever tasted. The female bartenders could be a little nicer but that was the only flaw. I would recommend Iguanas to many people. Plus you can dance the night away at one of their clubs upstairs for Spanish and downstairs for English music."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I reserved a table for 12 for a
friends wedding dinner. The service was great and the food was delicious. They didn't rush us out but letus take pictures, throw the garder belt and bouquet after the bill was paid. I diffiantly recommend this place"
Dined on 2/10/2014
ok if you really never have had
good Mexican food to compare it too"
Dined on 2/7/2014
Delicious food in a gorgeous
setting. The wait staff was extremely attentive and kept our water glasses full without having to be asked. My one complaint was that I had barely nibbled my second chip with guacamole before our entrees were there. One shouldn't have to say give a few minutes to eat the appetizer, it should be understood. Otherwise the food was good. The decor was beautiful and gave a nice ambience. The bar was packed. There was live music that night."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Great food and music..after dinner
we went downstairs for a little dancing. The lighting is great, very romantic and serene."
Dined on 1/31/2014
We mainly went to hear Vince
Giordano and the Nighthawks play jazz from the 20's and 30's and were not disappointed., But if you want to go for the music (on Mondays and Tuesdays), make sure you specify that you want to be seated upstairs near the band."
Dined on 1/27/2014
We had a very nice cocktail and
dinner time pre theatre. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals. Convenient to parking, 54 Below, Studio 54 and the Broadway theatre."
Dined on 1/29/2014
We chose this restaurant from an
internet search. Turns out it was a great find! The staff is fantastic (thank you Habid), the food was excellent, the drinks were strong (be careful). I will definitely by going back."
Dined on 2/1/2014
The food was great. The customer
service was wonderful. We sat at a table next to a very loud, inappropriate group. When I spoke to the person assigning the tables, she and the other members of the staff could not do enough for us, giving us another table away from the group. They handled the situation with a professional and caring manner. Our service was impeccable, and the strolling musicians were a great touch. Even though we had to wait for a member of our party, they took care of our order in a way that we did not feel rushed and still had plenty of time to get to the theater. Can't wait to go back."
Dined on 1/30/2014
Good food but 20% service charge
added for 2 people on the bill is taking the **** The service was poor, I would have left a tip for 10% - come on Iguana play the game - you are letting yourselves down"
Dined on 1/8/2014
Great margaritas and guacamole.
Other dishes so so. I gave had better Mexican in NYC. But this place is passable."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Iguana is consistently great...
Food, drinks, atmosphere---you name it and it's thumbs up in all categories. Be sure to order the guacamole freshly prepared at your table...it is the BEST!! Great cocktails and superb service. Iguana is truly a neighborhood gem and even if you're seeing a show in the West 40's, mosey up north for a visit here! You won't be disappointed (and you'll get a little exercise in the walk up north!)."
Dined on 1/16/2014
mediocre food, service was good,
but won't return for dinner."
Dined on 1/15/2014
The food was First Class, much
better than I expected. Our waiter was a real pro. We came mainly to see and hear Vince Gordiano and the Night Hawks big band, but enjoyed our dinning experience. I would reccomend IGUANA to my friends. Thank you."
