Brought our 1 year old here and it
was great! Waiter was so nice and attentive. Food was great!"

Service was top notch - friendly
and attentive without being intrusive. My friend asked for a substitution on his order and was accommondated. One small complaint - the table was a little small. It was very crowded when the entrees arrived."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Even after reservations, getting a
table was long and our server had difficult communication skills and the desert was very hard and cold and when asked to take it back to warm it up, we just got a new plate of the same cold and hard brownie."

Iguana is a large restaurant (for
New York), capable of seating 200 diners. For this reason it is ideal for groups hosting a large number of guests. (There were four separate birthday celebrations, and a wedding party happening while I was there.) Unfortunately, all this chaos and noise--which included a very loud live Mariachi band playing nearby--detracted from the overall ambience, and the over-the-top "Mexican" decor didn't help either. This was more Mexican-themed restaurant than authentic south-of-the-border cuisine. The menu was ho-hum, with only a few dishes, all of them standard fare for a Mexican restaurant. The portions were quite small, and my classic margarita was very weak. The groups around me seemed to be having a good time."

Went there on Valentine's Day.
Great meal and service. Guacamole was excellent. Drinks were a little small but good. The place has a nice vibe..."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I came here on Valentines day, the
service was great. Their guacamole is one of the best I have ever tasted. The female bartenders could be a little nicer but that was the only flaw. I would recommend Iguanas to many people. Plus you can dance the night away at one of their clubs upstairs for Spanish and downstairs for English music."
Dined on 2/14/2014
I reserved a table for 12 for a
friends wedding dinner. The service was great and the food was delicious. They didn't rush us out but letus take pictures, throw the garder belt and bouquet after the bill was paid. I diffiantly recommend this place"
Dined on 2/10/2014
ok if you really never have had
good Mexican food to compare it too"
Dined on 2/7/2014
Delicious food in a gorgeous
setting. The wait staff was extremely attentive and kept our water glasses full without having to be asked. My one complaint was that I had barely nibbled my second chip with guacamole before our entrees were there. One shouldn't have to say give a few minutes to eat the appetizer, it should be understood. Otherwise the food was good. The decor was beautiful and gave a nice ambience. The bar was packed. There was live music that night."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Great food and music..after dinner
we went downstairs for a little dancing. The lighting is great, very romantic and serene."
Dined on 1/31/2014
We mainly went to hear Vince
Giordano and the Nighthawks play jazz from the 20's and 30's and were not disappointed., But if you want to go for the music (on Mondays and Tuesdays), make sure you specify that you want to be seated upstairs near the band."
Dined on 1/27/2014
We had a very nice cocktail and
dinner time pre theatre. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals. Convenient to parking, 54 Below, Studio 54 and the Broadway theatre."
Dined on 1/29/2014
We chose this restaurant from an
internet search. Turns out it was a great find! The staff is fantastic (thank you Habid), the food was excellent, the drinks were strong (be careful). I will definitely by going back."
Dined on 2/1/2014
The food was great. The customer
service was wonderful. We sat at a table next to a very loud, inappropriate group. When I spoke to the person assigning the tables, she and the other members of the staff could not do enough for us, giving us another table away from the group. They handled the situation with a professional and caring manner. Our service was impeccable, and the strolling musicians were a great touch. Even though we had to wait for a member of our party, they took care of our order in a way that we did not feel rushed and still had plenty of time to get to the theater. Can't wait to go back."
Dined on 1/30/2014
Good food but 20% service charge
added for 2 people on the bill is taking the **** The service was poor, I would have left a tip for 10% - come on Iguana play the game - you are letting yourselves down"
Dined on 1/8/2014
Great margaritas and guacamole.
Other dishes so so. I gave had better Mexican in NYC. But this place is passable."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Iguana is consistently great...
Food, drinks, atmosphere---you name it and it's thumbs up in all categories. Be sure to order the guacamole freshly prepared at your table...it is the BEST!! Great cocktails and superb service. Iguana is truly a neighborhood gem and even if you're seeing a show in the West 40's, mosey up north for a visit here! You won't be disappointed (and you'll get a little exercise in the walk up north!)."
Dined on 1/16/2014
mediocre food, service was good,
but won't return for dinner."
Dined on 1/15/2014
The food was First Class, much
better than I expected. Our waiter was a real pro. We came mainly to see and hear Vince Gordiano and the Night Hawks big band, but enjoyed our dinning experience. I would reccomend IGUANA to my friends. Thank you."
Dined on 1/14/2014
We waited for almost 45 minutes
for a table to have dinner our server and the rest of the staff including your security did a wonderful job"
Dined on 1/10/2014
Great food; warm and attentive
service; lively atmosphere with strolling Mexican musicians; unique decor."
Dined on 1/11/2014
Reservation at 12:30 jan 2, were
the only 4 clients in the place. Service was great , no other distractions. Everyone enjoyed their meal."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Have been here on a Friday
night. Quite good Mexican food and a wide choice of Margaritas. Great salsa bar above the restaurant. Complimentary entrance if you have an entrée in the restaurant. Otherwise men have to pay 10 $."
Dined on 12/20/2013
Great food and especially the
guacamole...just not enough of it!!"
Dined on 12/10/2013
On a one night stay over in NYC
and we found Iguana. A great meal, exceptional service, and a great value!"
Dined on 12/13/2013
Iguana is one of my fav. On last
visit appetizers were a little saltie."
Dined on 12/12/2013
Sunshine and Luis where so nice
with us. Thank You. We are coming back"
Dined on 12/7/2013
Nice atmosphere, though noisy.
Waitress was grumpy, food was mediocre. I had a steak & shrimp special - dry. Disappointing."
Dined on 12/6/2013
We went to hear Vince Giordano and
the Nighthawks, a phenomenal band that plays historic charts of 20's and 30's music with a verve and tightness that just creates joy. They are there every Monday and Tuesday night from 8PM to 11PM. They spent years at Sophia's in the Hotel Edison and recently moved to Iguana. So the food was not this issue. Until we tasted it. Some of the best Mexican cuisine I've had in the Northeast. And the staff are friendly, fast, and even entertaining at times. A wonderful evening."
Dined on 12/3/2013
Food was okay, service was okay,
atmosphere was okay--everything was okay. But at the prices they're charging, it should have been much better."
Dined on 11/23/2013
Being a transplants from Texas, I
am always in search of authentic Mexican food. Even though the chips were not special, other things were done quite well, very fresh and tasty."
Dined on 11/23/2013
The service was fast and friendly,
and we had no problem making our curtain time at 8:00 on a Saturday night, when we sat down to eat at 6. The bar menu us extensive, and all the food and desserts that we ate were delicious! Highly recommended."
Dined on 11/23/2013
My bridal party took me out to
dinner at Iguana for a cozy early party, then invited more friends to join us in the upstairs Salsa lounge at the latter part of the evening. Over all service was great; and food & drink are excellent. The decor and structure in the restaurant is beautiful and the upstairs lounge perfect for a party."
Dined on 11/16/2013
We have been here before and will
go again. The food is good and plentiful. The wine list is extensive and priced reasonably. Music downstairs. This is a good place for a fun evening"
Dined on 11/12/2013
If you love music from the 20's
and 30's played by an eleven piece band you will love Iguana on Monday and Tuesday nights. Vince Giordano and his NightHawks are an absolute treat. The show starts at eight and there are three sets until 11. The food starts at 7 and getting there early, with reservations, gets you a better seat. We have always gone with 4 to 6 people. It works very well. And if you need to talk with old friends, do that before the music starts or during the two breaks. The food is really very good and not very expensive. The wine is good as well for a proper price. Altogether, a wonderful evening."
Dined on 11/12/2013
The food did not disappoint even
thogh first choices were no longer available at 945. Music was excellent, service impeccable, atmosphere downstairs where I ate was very pleasant. Good value!"
Dined on 11/11/2013
We had visitors in town from
Australia recently and thought it would be fun to bring them to a Mexican Restaurant, as there is very little Mexican food down under. Iguana looked like a fun choice, but turned out to be a big disappointment. The Sombrero-wearing Guacamole guy instantly signaled tourist trap, and everything about Iguana turned out to be mediocre at best, from the "made table-side"guacamole, to the margarita and the food itself. Very pedestrian and not recommended."
Dined on 11/10/2013
Went to Iguana for our friend's
birthday for a party of 6. Had a very nice roomy table, service was quick (but too quick) and the server even recommended some appetizers that would suit the table. Prices moderate. Had salsa dance lessons downstairs and picked a few new steps. Went up stairs @10PM to the Lizard Lounge to dance. Had a nice table next to the dance floor and my guests and I danced all night long. Good latin DJ, nice crowd (mix of young and mature). Much room to dance. I would definitely recommend this place."
Dined on 11/9/2013
Great food, great atmosphere,
great service and an all around great experience...! Guacamole made to order at your table! Butterscotch and many other flavors of margaritas! Even a Mariaci band! THANKS IGUANA"
Dined on 11/9/2013
We had tickets for a 7:00 show so
we arrived early and there weren't many people there yet. Service was prompt and the freshly made guacomole was very tasty. We've dined there before but hadn't been there for awhile."
