been bringing a slice of Rome to North Beach for over 18 years with it's highly acclaimed chef, Maurizio Bruschi. Maurizio hails from four generations of Roman chefs, lovingly taught by his grandma, la Nonna Serafina. The pastas and breads are all homemade and the ingredients are hand-picked daily. The 2011 Zagat guide gave Ideale a 24 for food and wrote that the "Italian fare is the real deal...one of the few no tourist eateries in North Beach..excellent pasta and pizza..the service makes you feel like a friend..a delightful experience." Ideale has won numerous awards, including being listed in Zagat's "Best Italian Restaurants in America" and The Chronicle's "Best Pasta in North Beach."

I went through with the President of my company so I needed it to be good and it was great. The waiter was fantastic, the Bruenello (spelling) wine was good, the apps (especially the eggplant and carpaccio) was great, and of course the entrees were too. I had the Seabass and he had the Pappadelle and he loved it.

Had not been here for a long time and was delighted to find the pastas as delicious as I remember. We had ricotta gnocchi with pomodoro and basil. Light and lovely with a beautiful fresh sauce. We had the pumpkin ravioli in butter sauce with sage. The raviolis were plump and sweet and the butter was a perfect foil for the pumpkin. Started with a shared Caesar salad which came with lots of anchovies--perfect! We would go back.

We really enjoyed our dinner. Our table was ready when we walked in, the service was excellent throughout. My wild salmon dish was incredible as was my partner's pasta with broccoli rabe.
