Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing s'more chocolate marshmallow dessert!! All in all delicious food"

  • "You walk in the door and instantly get hit with an ambiance and aroma that draws you in. The food was to die for; a combination of what you loved about grandma's cooking and that new age flair that gives you something new. The service from chef nick and our waiter Edward was top notch. No mistakes; just felt like the staff bent over backwards for us. A must try; Icon Grill should be an icon for the great city of Seattle."

  • "Food great and Edward our waiter was fantastic. He chose a delicious bottle of wine and was attentive and engaging. I'll be back."

  • "The waiter was extremely rude on the evening shift of 07/16. We were 15 minutes before 9pm, and asked about happy hour. He said there was no way to place an order in advance, and was incredibly rude about it. I understand policies are policies, but he didn't even understand normal social etiquette."

  • "I didn't love my meal. The Mac n cheese is not that special. If I wanted velvetta Mac n cheese I would make it at home. The tiger prawn penne: I doubt it was tiger prawns judging by the size of my shrimp. They were also grossly overcooked. In retrospect I should have let my waitress know that. The dish came with grilled bread that had a horrible fishy smell to it that made me glad I didn't get a fish entree. I was over charged for the penne that was immediately corrected but still I shouldn't have to point that out. I only have good things to say about the service. My waitress was awesome."

  • "Finally, an eatery in Seattle we would visit regularly as locals! The ambiance and decor were comfortable with a dash of eccentric/cool. The waitress was friendly and didn't mind checking on anything we needed further info on, the food was accessible but not pedestrian, and the prices were reasonable for a hip restaurant that takes food seriously but wants to remain reachable for a larger audience. The coffee was also the best we've had at a non-coffee shop here. Highly recommend and will be going back!"

  • "Great food and wonderful service make this my "must go to " when I am in the city. It sits unnoticed in the heart of Seattle. Absolutely love it!"

  • "This was a nice surprise to find a good brunch spot in the middle of downtown at a reasonable price at a restaurant best known for dinner. The Bloody Mary, at $5, was fantastic. I had the Hunter's Omelet which was nice and fluffy. The potatoes seemed to have suffered under a heat lamp for too long, but I liked the mixed in peppers."

  • "We have never had a bad meal at the Icon. Their service is always great, the food is varied and delicious. One of the few places in Seattle where you are able to order 'home style' dishes, i.e., meat loaf, mac & cheese, fried chicken, etc. Love the small plate selections too. Also, I'm happy that they have continued to accept Passport Unlimited cards for so many years. We've gone many times over the years and appreciate the round table they have for large parties and the private room upstairs. The service is always good even when we are with a large group."

  • "Food is ok but nothing special compared to similar priced restaurant. Friendly but somewhat lacking service (in quality not quantity). Love the atmosphere. Lots of blown glass and interesting art."

  • "Visiting Icon Grill again after many years was a great experience, even better than I remembered and anticipated. Everything was outstanding! Can't wait till next time. Kudos to the management, kitchen staff, wait staff, and bar staff. Well done."

  • "Two friends and I had dinner here before a concert at Benaroya. We decided to order a few appetizers to share. We had the tater tots, the Hog Wild mac & cheese, the tenderloin tips a blazin' and the crispy fish sliders. We all enjoyed everything except the fish sliders. These sounded so much better than they tasted, partly because the bun was dry and could have been softer. The fish got lost in the slaw and didn't have much taste, so because of that I wouldn't recommend them. Get the others though!!"

  • "Went for brunch this last weekend and arrived a few minutes early for our reservations to a 1/3 empty restaurant and STILL had to stand up front by the hostess area for 10 minutes waiting for a table. Our waitress was prompt but mostly distracted and not very friendly. I can handle all business from wait staff and usually it's a good thing, but this waitress just seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. Ordered the Migas and was super excited, but it was really disappointing. Mostly scrambled eggs with some mystery meat and cojita cheese. The $13 cocktail was sparkling wine and pom juice. That's it...for $13. Anyway, I probably wont't be back. Always having to wait, strange staff and not great food makes this a disappointing experience."

  • "We were visiting from Wisconsin, asked a local for a good breakfast place...he gave directions that we didn't follow correctly and found ourselves at Icon...and it was a Great Mistake...just wonderful."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Both my wife and I ordered the rib eye steak. What arrived was a thin, fatty and grisly slab of mystery cooked beef. The two gentlemen in the next table had the same issue. The manager gave the customers a silly excuse. Our waiter was apologetic, but that doesn't make up for an expensive and mediocre experience."

  • "Great service, warm and comfortable atmosphere, delicious food competitively priced with seasonal specials. Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and made it to our evening theatre performance in plenty of time!"

  • "We cancelled reservations at another restaurant to eat here and were not disappointed. Food was fabulous, waiter was very attentive & knowledgeable. Great evening."

  • "We have been in Icon Grill several times before and it used to be very good and food was really excellent. Last Sunday however they did really poorly. The risotto looked and tasted as previously (over) cooked and warmed up rice, so did the paella which did really look like anything but one, and we felt disappointed. We left thinking that perhaps on Sunday they try to recycle the leftovers. But we'll give it another try on a week-day."

  • "We went on Father's day, and we normally expect longer waits. We had a reservation, and was pleasantly surprised that it was not completely packed. We showed up for our 10:30 reservation, and had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We then waited a long time to get our order taken, and had a round of drinks. Around 11:45 we couldn't wait for our food anymore, and had to leave, as we had an appointment nearby at noon. After the initial delay our waiter was great, and made sure that our round of drinks was comped, but something was clearly backed up in the kitchen."

  • "The three of us were set for a fun evening and Icon Grill didn't disappoint. The drinks were delicious and the blue cheese medallions were excellent. Chris provided superior service - he knew the menu, could explain the drinks, make recommendations, and he was intuitive on when to check in and when to just let us talk and enjoy our meal. A real enjoyable meal - we'll be back."

  • "Arrived a bit early but they sat me right away. Had an excellent mothers day menu with fresh fruit and pastry plates brought out before the meal. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. "

  • "Our service started off ok, it ended with one very large flaw, the server did not bring back our credit card with our check. While we should have noticed this too, it's annoying when you have to travel all the way back to a place and pick up a credit card. My husband ordered a latte that came AFTER the meal was done! (about 20 minutes after he ordered it). The server took it off the bill The food was OK. Our simple egg and meat breakfast which for $17.00 that was average at best and it did not come with a bread. They need to spend the $.025 cents and offer toast. I had the potato crusted halibut that was very nicely prepared. My daughter had an over-cooked pancake that she did not eat and had to share my other daughters meal. "

  • "We love Icon Grill but for Mother's Day brunch we both had two different rather bland dishes - we were surprised. This was our first time at brunch - we love their dinners. "

  • "Great atmospher and pretty interesting menu but service was a deal breaker for me. Server took all our orders like it was going to be a great dinning experience but delivered 3 out of the 4 meals and then decided to tell my friend they were out of what he had ordered leaving him with no dinner as we all had ours. Being good friends we all pitched in to make him a meal but that is not how it should have been handled. I don't see how he didn't know that his meal was unavailable when he put the order in rather than finding out as he is delivering the three other meals. Thus I will not be returning very disappointed as I was excited to dine here since I pass it everyday on my way to work :( "

  • "This restaurant is well-known for its comfort food - and lived up to its great rep. The service, however, was so slow and the restaurant was not even 1/4 full, as we went early - late afternoon. "

  • "Went to Icon for Easter Brunch, I had not been there for years, the menu was boring nothing special for easter brunch just the usual boring breakfast fair. Nothing was really bad it just was very bland and mediocre. No reason to go back again, there are so many other choices. "

  • "Whether it's quick bite to eat, a romantic dinner for two, happy hour with friends, or Sunday brunch with family this place is always such a great experience from servers to food to the ambience well done!"

  • "made a reservation on what is usually a busy Saturday night but to our happy surprise the Icon was open for a 715 reservation. The service was excellent. However we expected a better meal from the Icon. Perhaps this is because we had high expectations from excellent previous meals at the Icon and the sister restaurants. I had an unremarkably tasteless halibut with over cooked spinach and my wife had slightly overdone salmon. We did start with an excellent Pear salad. The cocktails were good as expected and as I said before the service was friendly and very good. We had to rush out to catch a show so I cannot speak to the day's desert. I expect more from this outfit."

  • "Some friends and I came here for lunch during restaurant week and I just wasn't that impressed. Icon Grill presents a spin on American comfort food but I didn't find it all that tasty. It was heavily seasoned and a lot of items were fried. I could have had made better lunch myself. Appetizer: Fried mac'n'cheese. There was no flavor to it and it came out in 3 little fried balls that didn't even look nice. Entree: Chicken and brie sandwich. The brie was overly melted for my taste and the chicken was really dry without any seasoning. Dessert: Chocolate pudding cake. This was probably the best part of the whole meal. The inside of the cake was hot and had freshly made whip cream on top. The salted caramel drizzle was great too. "

  • "We eat here every time we fly out from Delaware to visit family - won't miss it!"

  • "The main reason to eat here is the fun atmosphere, and the comfort food "american" menu. I ate here during Restaurant Week, so admittedly it is crowded and the 3 course menu was limited. I had the lamb chops (very fatty, but good sauce) and fried mac and cheese appetizer (deep-fried, not pan fried, and not particularly cheesy). The dessert was the real winner- Strawberry Rhubarb crumble. Excellently prepared and generously portioned. "

  • "We enjoyed our Seattle Restaurant week experience. The squash soup was really delicious, as were the fried chicken (boneless!) and lamb chops. Would have liked to see more veggies on the plate (3 broccoli florets can hardly be called a serving) though. Desserts were yummy too - hot fudge sundae, with a variety of toppings offered and strawberry rhubarb crisp was just-right sweet. Very cool environment, with lots to look at! "

  • "Have always wanted to try this restaurant. Went few weeks back thinking it was Restaurant Week, but discovered we were a week early. Even still we of course decided to stay with an excuse to come back very soon ... Which we did second week of promo. Both times the atmosphere was pleasant, ambiance here is wonderful giving the place a great old-time feel. Food was fantastic, everything we tried was delicious and presented in a striking fashion. Would love to reserve their upstairs banquet room for a group. Highly Recommend!!!"

  • "Went for the latest 3 for 15 lunch and wasn't disappointed with the food although the sole was a bit bland I missed having the meatloaf on the menu this time Of course the sundae was excellent as well as the service"

  • "This was my third visit to Icon Grill and it continues to get better each time I go. First (for lunch) and second (for dinner) times I struggled to choose something from the menu I forget what I eventually ordered by I remember it was good, not fantastic. The ambiance is subdued, but I much prefer that over something noisy. We sat at a 4 top for dinner and it was very easy to converse and stay focused on the company and share the TOTALLY AWESOME ICE CREAM SUNDAE. The last time was the best by far. Ordered off the SEattle Restaurant Week menu - prix fix asparagus appetizer, flank steak dinner, and choc cake for dessert. Delicious! The interior is also dark so keep that in mind on a sunny day."

  • "Went there for restaurant week but found out they did not start until that evening. So settled on a crabcake benedict. The potatoes were good and crisp however the benedict was not so good. it was way too wet so it became mushy. Not sure how their evening dinner would fare but would think twice about going back due to so many other options in Seattle."
