  • "We picked this restaurant because it was close to the Warner theater. We were very pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of our waiter. He recommended several dishes and each one was delicious. They also made sure to see that we got out in time for the performance."

  • "There was nothing special about the food. Wine was extremely overpriced and I will never go back. We could have gone to Barcelonia ans had way much better cuisine dining."

  • "A bit hard to find from the street as it is in the Sofitel hotel. Modern, clean decor but does not feel cold. Plenty of sunlight coming in. Nicely done. Waiting staff are very attentive. I usually visit this place for lunch so my experience is limited to the half sandwitch and soup, but as far as that goes it is delicious."

  • "I am a fairly regular breakfast customer at Ici. I breakfasted there this morning with a colleague and, while the service (in particular the very professional, friendly hostess) remains impressive and the food tasty, I noted changes from past breakfasts which either represent inconsistencies in service or changes in policy that made the meal a bit less special. Traditionally, I have been greeted at breakfast by a refreshing little yogurt-based smoothie. Today I didn't receive one (but did notice that other diners had). Also, I've also enjoyed the complimentary bread basket that was delivered while awaiting entrees. Today, nothing. Didn't ask as didn't want to make a scene in front of my guest. Perhaps an aberration?"

  • "Ici Urban is centrally located, for those of us who work near the White House. It quietly sits in the Sofitel and presents some fairly impressive lunchtime specials, especially the one-plate 45 minute lunch ~ you get a full tasting menu, including dessert, in appropriate portions. Everything was delicious and the staff was smart enough to let us have our working lunch. The food and service quietly appeared, then disappeared without disrupting our conversations. Highly recommended for a classy power lunch."

  • "Last minute decision and wanted something tasteful. My daughter and I wanted something that "tickled" our tastebuds and took a chance. It was all a delicious treat. Unfornunantly since we were are little late they ran out of the sea-bass but we "made do" with other yummy choices. An elegant setting inside the Sofitel Hotel, a little "stuffy" but worth it because the food was cooked to perfection."

  • "I left after determining I did not want a 3 hr experience, no idea if they had a cook or not, food may be excellent when they serve it"

  • "We eat out 10-12 times a week and had never been to Ici. Can't wait to go back. Had a marvelous seafood stew, fois gras and also a mushroom plate. Great sommelier and wait staff. Not in Zagat, way under the radar. Looking forward to our next visit."

  • "This restaurant is a hidden gem inside the Sofitel on 14th street. The food is outstanding and the service is impeccable. It is very quiet lending to an easy conversation."

  • "Food and service were great. Every dish was truly delicious."

  • "Warmly greeted upon arrival, seated quickly at corner table and our waiter welcomed us as soon as we were settled. Wine list was good and reasonably priced, menu was short but all great options. Food was wonderful with perfect portion sizes. Though our waiter was excellent with just the right amount of attention, bussing was slow and oddly we never had our watter glasses refilled. Otherwise a perfect meal."

  • "The food was very good and different. I don't know if this is considered the best restaurant in Washington DC, but their prices certainly suggest that they think they are!"

  • "The Valentines Dinner was pre fixe at $85 per person. The choices were not outstanding for that price. The branzino was delicious and well prepared with the delicate juxtaposition of crispy skin and moist, flaky meat. The dessert left much to be desired. Cocktails were excellent."

  • "one of my favorite downtown dining spots. the staff is attentive and welcoming. the food is incredible. fresh and delicious. i am particularly fond of the nicoise salad and their french fries are always hot and crispy. the noise level is perfect for a lunch meeting and the tables are appropriately spaced for privacy. you forget that you are dining in a hotel restaurant and that is key."

  • "Went to this restaurant for restaurant week and sampled their special menu. I also asked the staff about a wine paring to go with the dish. I was pleasantly surprised by the openness of the staff. The food was great. It was my first French restaurant in the DMV area and I will return."

  • "Went for Restaurant Week 2014 after hearing great things about this restaurant from a co-worker, and it was totally worth it. The food was absolutely delicious and aesthetically pleasing when it came to its presentation. I definitely hope to return so I can try other dishes on the regular menu that looked just as delectable as what was on the restaurant week menu."

  • "My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at ICI URBAN. A thirty year veteran of Washington restaurants I was delightfully surprised with my first visit. My wife is French and, in fact, owned a restaurant in the Haute Savoie of France for ten years. We enjoy food and felt the service, ambiance and food were outstanding. The price is reasonable for this high quality. We also stayed at the hotel, Sofitel..another delightful experience. A l0 out of 10 .. the ici crepe is not to be missed."

  • "New Years Eve. Checked website before reserving to make sure it was not going to be a limited ("special") menu. When we got there, of course, that is what it was. Food quality, only middling, especially in light of the "special" menu price. Best things were the breads."

  • "We have been to this restaurant many many times over the years. The service and food are both consistently excellent. And the lounge across the hall is nice for a cup of tea or a drink."

  • "I bring guests and friends to the bistro --always the best service in DC and lovely presentation and food. The portions are small, but the 30 min lunch is fun and tasty! I am now treated like a regular-this place is a gem!"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch recently at Ici Urban Bistro. The Eggs Benedict were fantastic and the Nutella Crepes were amazing. The staff were very friendly and engaging. the only issue I had was to beware of the automatic 18% service charge assessed on your dining before the tip. Pricey breakfast but wonderful and memorable."

  • "We had the first dinner seating and were the only ones in the restaurant til we finished the entre as we had an appointment with the Washington Capitals (game). Our waiter was very friendly and nice, the food was wonderful - we had the chicken crepe appy, marine scallops and braised rib gnocchi! We shared a crispy ravioli with watermelon for dessert, it was fantastic. We'll be back and take our time and thoroughly enjoy everything!!! I'm sure the ambience and noise picks up later in the evenings."

  • "This is a very pleasant place to eat, with lovely ambience and good service. The selection on the lunch menu was good and covered all dietary concerns. Skipping appetizers, we both enjoyed our choices of entree's but felt both dishes lacked the presence of vegetables. Since there is no choice for vegetable as a side dish, we had to order a salad to make our meals feel complete. I think when you pay around $28 per dish you shouldn't have to pay for a side, especially at lunch time. Dessert was disappointing, as the only choices were from a limited selection of small cakes/pastries on a tray, which, when served, didn't come with cream. The little petite four, served with coffee was a nice touch."

  • "While I was intrigued by the menu, Ici Urban Bistro turned into what I had hoped it wasn't -- just another white tablecloth hotel restaurant with decent food charging premium prices. The waitstaff was very attentive, but didn't seem to know the menu too well. I ordered the French onion soup in the hope that it will have a meaty depth to it, but this one was standard, over-salted, and one-note in a little crock for $8. My entree, orecchiette with peas, kale, onion, and gouda, was at the other side of the spectrum -- it was under-seasoned, although otherwise well-prepared if a little simple (for another $23). The breed was good, but nothing particularly novel. I'd eat at Ici again if someone suggested, but wouldn't make a special trip."

  • "Every time we eat at ICI, we say "why do we eat anywhere else." ICI has clean, pure food without additives. IT IS FANTASTIC. I never gain weight eating at ICI (at other restaurants there is always any extra 2 - 4 pounds gain the next day; it takes a week to get rid of it). The arrangement of the food, the taste of the tuna (so pure like it was just fished from the ocean), all of the courses are PERFECT. And the desserts -- delicate and light, beautiful, perfect taste. WHAT A TREAT TO EAT AT ICI."

  • "Let me start my saying this was one of my favorite places and this might have been a bad day. Service was not very good.. It was not rude but definitely, unfriendly. Food was off as well. French fries were undercooked to the point of tasting raw. French opinion soup, lacked any depth of flavor. The creeps as always were excellent as well as the miniature Napoleon that was dessert. Unfortunately the entree of salmon was dry and like the French fries were not edible. The chef is on holiday and maybe thy was the problem but a truly disappointing meal."
