Presentation of food is very good, but fish did not have distinctive tastes and just seem to be a blend of blah. Background music is very annoying with a strange heavy beat.

  • Ichiban Sushi - Good sushi in Poway

Great sushi place in the greater San Diego area. Fish is fresh, or at least doesn't taste fishy like at any other place I've tried, reasonable prices (too bad they got rid of the 50% off menu at happy hour - $2 hand rolls were hard to beat - but the 30% off is still there), relaxing ambiance except for the terrible music.

Absolutely terrible. Did not have any cold saki available and also did not have several sashimi items from the menu. Very strange place not to be recommended. We left quickly. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to eat!!

  • One of my few favorite sushi

One of my few favorite sushi restaurants in the San Diego area. Good, imaginative chefs put a lot of thought into the menu, and a lot of artistry in the design of the food. Good, unintrusive but attentive wait-staff. Good happy hour and lunch specials. Good, traditional decor. only down-side; like most sushi restaurants, they keep pumping trendy pop music and showing martial arts movies with Korean subtitles. I don't care much about the movies, but the music is very annoying.
