Also loved the ambiance and decor.
Tapas were good but the fried calamari tapa was outstanding, Choose a beautiful day and enjoy a leisurely lunch on the second level of this beautiful restaurant in downtown La Jolla."

Great Restaurant Outstanding food
and service. Congratulations to the chef."

My only complaint was the music
too loud. I found the drinks fun & refreshing . We lived in Southern Spain for three years, & this was the first Spanish Restaurant haveI really enjoyed since we left. I loved the garlic mayonnaise & the jamon platter, & paella. Wonderful. I was surprise at some of the poor ratings."

I am a well-educated student of
Spanish culture and cuisine. My one time at Ibérico was very pleasing. This was not imitation Spanish cooking; this was very fresh, properly seasoned, authentic fare. I am only speaking from the experience of one visit. The service was excellent, as well as the ambiance."

With reservations... we were
seated 45 minutes late. The place was busy but certainly not packed. When seated only half the table received water and half received menus. The waiter would disappear for stretches at a time and never took a drink order. The muscles in saffron we more than 50% empty shells. The seafood paella was nland and the seafood overcooked. The roasted "boneless" Cornish game hen had more bones than a cemetery. The food lacked flavor and presentation. The waiter argued with the diners about drinks and food orders. Go somewhere else!"

Disappointed. Staff was stressed
out, food was mediocre, except for the salad. Loved the gin drinks... Would go back for one or two of those. But not on a holiday weekend."

Four of us had a large assortment
of Tapas to get the flavor of the theme and of the kitchen. Some were good and others not so. Waiters running around and not accomplishing anything. Order a glass of wine...wait 15 minutes. Some Tapas arrive ...wine needs refill...15 minutes later. Not all the Tapas have been served...find the waiter and ask where they are? He replies ...What did you order? He can't find any record of your order!! Meanwhile conversation is drowned out by music..Gypsy Kings at one point but the rest just noise. Televisions over the bar showing basketball..is this a Sports Bar? Certainly it is not a fine dining establishment. Mostly adult clientele. A couple at the door waiting to get in commented how noisy it was and left."

I've travelled throughout Spain
and was excited to dine here for the first time. Unfortunately, the only authentic Spanish thing at this restaurant was our waiter, who was from Madrid. Our waiter from Madrid was EXCELLENT, but NONE of the food we ordered (Gambas Ajillo, Paella Mixta, Tortilla Espanola, Croquetas, Churros y Chocolate) tasted authentic."

The staff was very friendly. Food
was delicious. And the place is very unique and beautiful. Great for casual or formal. The ambiance is great."

Great tapas, Paella, service
Overall a great experience if you like sharing and having fun."

Great latin music. Good food.
Eveyone in my group managed to find street parking nearby fairly quickly. I was surprised how empty the place was on a Wednesday night during restaurant week. Maybe people were going to less pricey options? It was nice to get a complimentary glass of wine with our restaurant week meal. My shrimp dish was wonderful, the shrimp were huge! I might go back to try their tapas."

We enjoyed the outdoor deck, even
thought the evening was cool the heaters made it pleasant. We ordered tapas, Sangria and paella and re-created our recent trip to southern Spain! Staff were fun and excellent, food was very good."

My God! After almost 1 year in San
Diego I had the best experience of my year ! Everything was perfect!"
Dined on 1/20/2014
Varied and good Tapas. Tapas are
pretty authentic to Spain (I used to live there) but not necessarily original. Was there once before and the paella was not authentic - used long grain rice. Beautiful restaurant and nice patio overlooking Prospect St in La Jolla."
Dined on 1/14/2014
I liked the restaurant and the
servers were excellent. The paella which is feature on the menu was mediocre with too much rice and too little seafood etc."
Dined on 1/8/2014
The tapas were not very good and a
lot of the dishes were very greasy. They also did not have their signature dish, which I thought was strange since that is what is highlighted on the menu. I would not recommend this place to get authentic Spanish cuisine."

I've been bragging to our out of
town (L.A.) guests what great restaurants we have here in La Jolla. Iberico Spanish Bistro did not disappoint. I had read reviews that the food was excellent but the ambiance, service and New years Eve entertainment were a pleasant surprises. Dinner, which was prix fixe, $80 (because it was New Years Eve) included the usual noise makers, hats, Champagne and great live music. My wife's lamb shank had been preparing for 24 hours and was delicious. I had the filet. I was a little concerned because I forgot to tell the server how I like it prepared. Didn't matter. it was perfect. Our friends had the prawns and the filet and loved them. BRAVO IBERICO!"

We wanted to try something
different for Christmas dinner. My wife just returned from 3 weeks in Spain and we were interested in knowing if the food at Iberico tasted authentic. We both were pleasantly surprised how good it was as we had seen some mixed reviews on the internet. The restaurant staff were courteous and professional and our experience was superb in every way."
Dined on 12/25/2013
We went in on the Thursday after
Christmas. Sat down at a lovely table outside, reviewed the wine and food lists, decided what to order and waited 10 minutes for a server to make first contact. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited another 10 minutes before we walked out, not seeing our server again until we were at the door... This is not acceptable anywhere. We were early at 6PM, the restaurant was not busy at all, just really poor service. I have no idea what the food is like and will never find out because the first impression will prevent me from going back. Too bad."
Dined on 12/26/2013
We had to wait for 45mins for our
appetizers and when they came, they were not that exceptional. The chipironnes rellenos needed more seasoning. The paella was disappointing because it lacked the crusty bottom (the best part!) you normally see in paella. The rice was still very wet and looked like it could use more cooking time."

Read the previous feedbacks and
had some reserve about the place, but it was fantastic, great food, great service, and the house special dessert is awesome.."
Dined on 12/21/2013
It was a cold night so we asked
for an indoor table, which we received. Problem was the doors to the outside were open and it was very drafty and cold. Makes it tough to concentrate on a meal when the conditions are like that."

My wife and I love tapas. My wife
is a huge fan of Spanish jamon; I am a big gin fan. So we were really looking forward to eating here. The drinks: they list gin brands, but have no gin "special" cocktails. Wine - they were all Spanish, so my wife told our waiter that she liked Pinot and asked for something similar. When he brought it, he didn't tell her what it was. When we finally caught him and asked, he said it was a Pinot. Not on the menu. And a brand you can buy at Ralphs. We ordered 5 tapas including a $35 ham plate. None were good. The waiter had no idea which ham was what (we were pretty confident one was prosciutto that you can buy anywhere). 1st time I've ever had mushy octopus. Even the bread was stale."

We were in a hurry to get to a
movie and our waiter made a special effort to get our food to us quickly. Thanks to his special effort we had a delicious lunch and got to the movie on time. i highly recommend the sea bass it was light and moist. They also have a great selection of gin cocktails."

This restaurant is true Spanish
cuisine and you will not find anything else like it in La Jolla. The Iberico ham flatbread was amazing. The Riojo beef dish was incredible."
Dined on 11/19/2013
My wife and I seek out Spanish
Tapas restaurants whenever we travel. The Iberico was good but when compared to other dozen or so Spanish Tapas restaurants we have visited it was just so so. Service was very polite but a tad slow. Iberico was out of octopus and calamari the night we were there both of which are our favorites. Additionally, they did not offer Serrano Ham on a small plate. One had to buy a full dinner in order to get the Serrano Ham. Over all the food was good but a little bland. The location of Iberico was excellent."

So nice to find authentically
Spanish food! This restaurant will be a hit for a long time."
Dined on 10/27/2013
Common owners as El Agave, Iberico
is another favorite. Extensive menu of unique items authentic to Spain! VERY high quality meats, a wide variety of Tapas to share as well as traditional dinner items or paella for two. Look at the website for Nightly specials including late night happy hour or half price wine etc. Bringing to San Diego the new "gin bar" concept so popular in Spain/Europe!"

We tried the tapas the 1st visit
and were very disappointed. this time our entrees were great and the jabugo was terrific. We'll be back."
Dined on 10/11/2013
The service was bad staring with
the hostess. The place is nice but it needs a new manager and new cook."

We went to Iberico for Restaurant
Week so we expected them to be prepared to impress their diners. Our waiter joked that they wouldn't have anymore of the dessert choice and then it actually happened. What restaurant runs out of the items they advertise on their Restaurant Week menu? On top of that, it wasn't even crowded, so really there was no excuse. The waiter took care of us but was pretty slow. The food wasn't very Spanish or what was advertised on the menu. Overall, I prefer Costa Brava in PB"

Our service was extremely slow. We
arrived at the restaurant at 8pm. The greeter mentioned that we could get $4 tapas, beer, and wine if we sat in the bar area. After waiting for about 5 minutes and unable to flag anyone down to take orders we asked to sit in the normal dining area. After sitting down, we did not interact with someone that could take our order until about 8:20. We waited a while longer, and we debated leaving the restaurant. Finally at about 8:30 our pitcher of sangria arrived at the table. From here on, the experience was much better. The sangria was potent and delicious. The food was amazing. I got the PX Salad which had goat cheese and a tasty vinaigrette. The solomillo steak was also very tender."
Dined on 10/5/2013
We enjoyed the food (tapas, a
chicken dish and a paella); the wine was a bit on the rough side for an $8 glass, but the reception desk was usually empty (we eventually gave up and went looking for a waiter to serve us) and the waiters were insufficiently attentive, especially strange since so few tables were occupied that night."
Dined on 9/24/2013
Great service ,perfect environment
the food was excellent We try solomillo ,tapas, the Chilean sea bass and everything was perfect. The coffee amazing and the dessert(torrija) wou out of this world. I recommend this restaurant you need to try it."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Food was great - but service was
very slow on a Thursday night after 8pm"
Dined on 9/20/2013
While the decor was beautiful and
the staff were attentive, the food left a lot to be desired. Our tapas plate did not come with olives (sacrilege), but was supposed to. Soup tasted like oil...very bland. Lamb shank could've been more flavorful; veggies were hardly cooked; the mousse was still frozen; and they didn't have port, only sherry. Very disappointing meal. The creme brulee type dessert they had was delicious. They do have the widest selection of gin I've seen. Would come back for gin and appetizers, not for dinner."
Dined on 9/19/2013
The most distinguishing part of
the meal was the background music. My wife and I ordered 3 tapas and a paella dish to share. Two of the tapas were a calamari or octopus based and they were overcooked and rubbery. The paella was long on rice and short on protein having just a few shrimp, tiny pieces of sausage and a few chunks of chicken. The rice seemed cooked in a rice cooker rather than cooked in a paella pan. Having just returned from Spain and eaten these types of courses many times, these were only approximations of Spanish food. The service was fine, but the kitchen was slow as we waited 30 minutes before our first tapas was served. You (and the restaurant) can do better."
