  • "We choose i Ricchi for dinner with friends from out of town. Turned out to be a GREAT choice all around. The service, food, and setting were outstanding. Two hours flew by way too fast. My wife has already told me we will be returning--- soon!"

  • "I Ricchi is to Italian fine dining in 2014 what a Pinto is to a Tesla. While the finest Italian restaurants in the US have progressed to using the freshest local ingredients and have really made efforts to offer fare reminiscent of what one would find in Italy, i Ricchi appears stuck in the 1980s. A dish with "white truffles" in July? Sure, they have it. A salad with tired arugula and radicchio? Of course. An "al burro e salvia" with the pasta sitting in a pool of melted butter with barely any sage flavor? Of course. A short, over-priced wine list without any terrific offerings from small producers? Yep, it's here. Tosca remains the place to go in Washington, DC when I desire a meal approaching what I could find in Italy."

  • "Excellent service from Said and assistant servers. Adequate wine selections. Very well paced. Probably ordered too much food but it was all excellent. On the pricy side but it is DC."

  • "I have eaten here several times and I am consistently impressed with the food and service. I tried the Salmon on my last visit and it was delicious, I would also recommend the roasted beet salad and the polenta and mushroom salad, but everything I have tried is delicious."

  • "After several visits over the past few years i Ricchi has become one of our staples for dining out with friends. Last visit was a wonderful experience. Our waiter Mario was a font of information and was attentive without being overwhelming. We will return."

  • "I used a living social coupoon but i received the same level of customer service as if i was a regular-paying customer. best disih is the calamari and the penne pasta. meat and fish dishes for the main entree were not outstanding as the sauces were too starchy."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here on a Friday night. The atmostphere was great for a quiet, romantic dinner. The food was excellent but the service was even better. I would highly recommend asking for Said. He made the perfect suggestions and was very attentive. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • "The food, service, and ambiance of Ricci was exquisite! We decided to try something very different and purchase a groupon for an upscale resturant for our trip to DC. We were pleasantly surprised! My son and I are still talking about the fabulous 3 course meal with Champagne and wine! Enjoy!"

  • "From the warm greeting, the expert service to the most delicately prepared seafood, I continue to make i Ricchi my go-to place for important business lunches and dinners."

  • "My second time to dine in this restaurant and the food & service...just outstanding. Spent over $300 for 2 people (not including gratuity)...was a bit pricey."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "I recommend using a deal if you plan on dining at this restaurant. For four people the bill came up to over $500 but with the deal it was manageable. The food is really really good."

  • "My brother in law travels to DC regularly and loves (or should I say loved) this restaurant. So.. we joined him on a recent visit there. We brought some very nice bottles of wine. The waitress was pulled aside by the manager who saw our wine bottles and had her (not courageous enough to do it himself) quote us some outrageous corkage fees. He wanted $35 for each of our less expensive ones and $65 for the very nice bottle. We asked to speak with him directly - he would not budge on the price and was just short of rude. The appetizers were very good, and the entrees were average. As we exited my husband told him we did not appreciate our treatment and he basically said don't bother coming back. No worries, we will not be returning."

  • "If you are looking to reward/treat yourself, then I Ricci is the place to do it. The food is great and the menu has a lot to choose from. The best part is that the wait staff engage you. They make recommendations that help guide you through the menu and suggest pairings of appetizers and entrees."

  • "The atmosphere is still nice and reminds you of the times the food here tasted just like on location in Tuscany. Unfortunately something seems to have gone wrong in the kitchen. The meat quality for two steaks was poor, the sauce over a rockfish tasted like it came from a can (why did they need the sauce anyway?) and the desserts were at the level of an Italian American family place in the boonies. A true disappointment"

  • "I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and it's all great. The seafood (especially the scallops) deserves a special mention. The pasta with rabbit also is great. The service is always outstanding. The staff is attentive, but not intrusive. I'm trying to think of something negative to say about the food or the service, but I can't think of anything. If you've never been, please give it a try."

  • "I have such a hard time understanding any negative reviews posted here! We have been to I Ricchi twice. 1. Complimentary valet parking. 2. Both times we used a Groupon & still enjoyed exceptional experiences. The Groupon price for a 3-course dinner for 2 plus wine & prosecco was $69. What an incredible bargain! A la carte, the bill would have approached $170. 3. Violetta, our server, an absolute treasure, accepted our Groupon at the beginning of the meal and treated us like royalty. 4. Wide variety of menu choices; excellent quality of ingredients. We enjoyed Mains: Filetto Alla Zingara & Pork Chop w/ Balsamic Onions; Desserts: Walnut-crusted Mascapone Cheesecake was delicious & a surprisingly light end, Semifreddo Alle Fragole was yummy."

  • "I Ricchi was one of my favorite places years ago when I lived in DC, so I thought that I would return, and I was disappointed. The appetizers and first course pasta were very good, but the entree was really lacking and the decor had not changed in 20 years. It was way too expensive for the food and experience ($190 for two people - only one drink) and I noticed that there were several people there with some promotional offer."

  • "Our waiter, whose name unfortunately escapes me at the moment, was amazing! Offered suggestions, present when we needed him, friendly, courteous. The food was excellent. I had the wide egg noodles with rabbit and my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin. The chocolate torte was mouthwatering :-)"

  • "We had a server that just tried too hard! At one point when she again inserted herself between my dining companion and myself, he finally said "we're trying to have a conversation here". The food was overall not up to expectations. My chilled tomato soup tasted like it was directly from the Trader Joe's box. I had the server remove it after eating about 3 spoonfulls, and told her that it was a poor representation. She asked if I wanted to try something else, but I declined. We had assumed that the price of the soup would have been deleted from the final bill ... no such luck. The full bill presented was paid, but while departing, I did tell the floor manager how disappointed I was in the quality of the soup."

  • "Caveat, we have been customers for 10 years. We were celebrating our first "legal" anniversary and did not want the new, loud, crushed crowd of 14th St. Just not the night for all that. I Ricci has always provided a welcoming, mature, professional, intimate, and gastronomic pleasure. This was perfect for this dinner. How often I forget what great established restaurants are south and west of DuPont. I rarely will give 5 stars, we could not have had a more perfect night. Trust your waiters suggestions, the staff's education is spot on. Saeed is stellar. His name means Happy, and we were."

  • "My partner has been to the restaurant for lunch several times lately and raved about it, so we decided to go for dinner with one of our best friends in town from Newport Beach. Our friend, who has spent time in Tuscany, bonded immediately with Miguel, our waiter, a native of Tuscany, and from that moment on we might as well have been there. After a lengthy discussion of the wine list, our guest/host selected a 2008 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino that was excellent. Miguel put together an excellent antipasto for us, supplemented by a cheese plate. Two of us had sautéed lamb for our main course and the other a pasta with seafood. Everything -- ambience, service, pacing, food -- was fantastic."

  • "Food was very good. The rockfish filet was cooked perfectly as well as the steak. Appetizers were excellent. Even though the food was very good, I do still think the prices were too high."

  • "We had another great meal at I Ricchi recently, one of our favorite DC restaurants. Great food and atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff. But.... During the past several visits we have felt servers have been VERY focused on upselling wine and getting us in and out as soon as possible. Definitely detracts from our experience."

  • "The quality of the food and the ambience at this gem of a restaurant on 19th St. cannot be overstated. The food is of the highest quality and extraordinarily Tuscan. The staff are always attentive, helpful and obliging. So if you're looking for a brief respite in Tuscany's gastronomic best right in the middle of DC look no further."

  • "but I can't help myself. The food and the service are wonderful. I've tried almost everything on the menu and I'm never disappointed. On my most recent visit, I had the rainbow trout because it's not usually available. It was cooked in white wine and lemon and was outstanding. I hope it's available on my next visit."

  • "Great service and great food in a location near metro."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to this restaurant and every time I have come, they seem to overcook the meat. Last time I ordered lamb and ordered it medium and it came well done and was extremely tough to chew. This time I ordered the steak and told the waitress if I should consider ordering the meat one level below what I usually like so it won't be over cooked and she told me that I should order it to the right temp as they will cook it to that temperature. So I ordered it medium. When it came, it was medium well and tough again. I tried to send it back but they refused to re cook it and told me that the center of the steak was done to medium - but 90% of the rest of the steak was medium well. I won't go back there. It was not a good experience."

  • "We were 1/2 hour late due to bumper-to-bumper traffic (I did call to tell them of our situation), but the hostess and wait staff all treated us like royalty and that our lateness was no problem. At table, this excellent treatment continued with the wait staff treating us like visiting royalty and they were thrilled we were there. I don't think the President of the US could have gotten better service. The food and wine were excellent as well -- and with a coupon deal, it was a wonderful bargain. If you do go there on a coupon deal, be sure to tip based on the full value of the meal, not merely the reduced coupon price."

  • "I was drawn to the restaurant by the promise of homemade pasta. I expect homemade past to be melt-in-the-mouth delicious. I had the tortelonni and found the pasta disappointingly tough. I met a colleague for a business lunch. The water was relentless and downright sneaky in his efforts to increase our purchases: "I happen to have an open bottle of water here, can I pour you some?" The $18.00 bottle of water appeared on the bill. On the plus side, the salads were artful and delicious. The ambiance is relaxing and attractive. You can carry on a business conversation without having to raise your voice over the crowd. Perhaps another dish and another waiter would have changed my opinion."
