Diner Reviews
  • "My friend and I had a lovely dinner at i Ricchi. Ambiance was very nice, staff excellent and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend it to friends. Margie"

  • "I Ricchi was one of my favorite places years ago when I lived in DC, so I thought that I would return, and I was disappointed. The appetizers and first course pasta were very good, but the entree was really lacking and the decor had not changed in 20 years. It was way too expensive for the food and experience ($190 for two people - only one drink) and I noticed that there were several people there with some promotional offer."

  • "I have such a hard time understanding any negative reviews posted here! We have been to I Ricchi twice. 1. Complimentary valet parking. 2. Both times we used a Groupon & still enjoyed exceptional experiences. The Groupon price for a 3-course dinner for 2 plus wine & prosecco was $69. What an incredible bargain! A la carte, the bill would have approached $170. 3. Violetta, our server, an absolute treasure, accepted our Groupon at the beginning of the meal and treated us like royalty. 4. Wide variety of menu choices; excellent quality of ingredients. We enjoyed Mains: Filetto Alla Zingara & Pork Chop w/ Balsamic Onions; Desserts: Walnut-crusted Mascapone Cheesecake was delicious & a surprisingly light end, Semifreddo Alle Fragole was yummy."

  • ". Requested steak to be medium, but had to return to kitchen since it came out medium rare. Other than that, food and service was great"

  • "Pricey, salty, pushy, not relaxing at all. Knew about this place for a few years and thought we would try it. So we did."

  • "This place is absolutely wonderful and we always enjoy eating here. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. A definite must for anyone looking for great italian food in the DC area."

  • "Our waiter, whose name unfortunately escapes me at the moment, was amazing! Offered suggestions, present when we needed him, friendly, courteous. The food was excellent. I had the wide egg noodles with rabbit and my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin. The chocolate torte was mouthwatering :-)"

  • "We were 1/2 hour late due to bumper-to-bumper traffic (I did call to tell them of our situation), but the hostess and wait staff all treated us like royalty and that our lateness was no problem. At table, this excellent treatment continued with the wait staff treating us like visiting royalty and they were thrilled we were there. I don't think the President of the US could have gotten better service. The food and wine were excellent as well -- and with a coupon deal, it was a wonderful bargain. If you do go there on a coupon deal, be sure to tip based on the full value of the meal, not merely the reduced coupon price."

  • "We had a server that just tried too hard! At one point when she again inserted herself between my dining companion and myself, he finally said "we're trying to have a conversation here". The food was overall not up to expectations. My chilled tomato soup tasted like it was directly from the Trader Joe's box. I had the server remove it after eating about 3 spoonfulls, and told her that it was a poor representation. She asked if I wanted to try something else, but I declined. We had assumed that the price of the soup would have been deleted from the final bill ... no such luck. The full bill presented was paid, but while departing, I did tell the floor manager how disappointed I was in the quality of the soup."

  • "My partner has been to the restaurant for lunch several times lately and raved about it, so we decided to go for dinner with one of our best friends in town from Newport Beach. Our friend, who has spent time in Tuscany, bonded immediately with Miguel, our waiter, a native of Tuscany, and from that moment on we might as well have been there. After a lengthy discussion of the wine list, our guest/host selected a 2008 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino that was excellent. Miguel put together an excellent antipasto for us, supplemented by a cheese plate. Two of us had sautéed lamb for our main course and the other a pasta with seafood. Everything -- ambience, service, pacing, food -- was fantastic."

  • "Caveat, we have been customers for 10 years. We were celebrating our first "legal" anniversary and did not want the new, loud, crushed crowd of 14th St. Just not the night for all that. I Ricci has always provided a welcoming, mature, professional, intimate, and gastronomic pleasure. This was perfect for this dinner. How often I forget what great established restaurants are south and west of DuPont. I rarely will give 5 stars, we could not have had a more perfect night. Trust your waiters suggestions, the staff's education is spot on. Saeed is stellar. His name means Happy, and we were."

  • "This is my all-time favorite DC restaurant. I recommend it for anyone that is looking for amazing food and amazing service. Every time I go the service just gets better and the food continues to amaze me."

  • "We had another great meal at I Ricchi recently, one of our favorite DC restaurants. Great food and atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff. But.... During the past several visits we have felt servers have been VERY focused on upselling wine and getting us in and out as soon as possible. Definitely detracts from our experience."

  • "We had a great evening at I Ricchi and would definitely recommend. Our waiter was polite and friendly and the food was very very good. I'm planning on going again."

  • "The quality of the food and the ambience at this gem of a restaurant on 19th St. cannot be overstated. The food is of the highest quality and extraordinarily Tuscan. The staff are always attentive, helpful and obliging. So if you're looking for a brief respite in Tuscany's gastronomic best right in the middle of DC look no further."

  • "but I can't help myself. The food and the service are wonderful. I've tried almost everything on the menu and I'm never disappointed. On my most recent visit, I had the rainbow trout because it's not usually available. It was cooked in white wine and lemon and was outstanding. I hope it's available on my next visit."

  • "Food was very good. The rockfish filet was cooked perfectly as well as the steak. Appetizers were excellent. Even though the food was very good, I do still think the prices were too high."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to this restaurant and every time I have come, they seem to overcook the meat. Last time I ordered lamb and ordered it medium and it came well done and was extremely tough to chew. This time I ordered the steak and told the waitress if I should consider ordering the meat one level below what I usually like so it won't be over cooked and she told me that I should order it to the right temp as they will cook it to that temperature. So I ordered it medium. When it came, it was medium well and tough again. I tried to send it back but they refused to re cook it and told me that the center of the steak was done to medium - but 90% of the rest of the steak was medium well. I won't go back there. It was not a good experience."

  • "I was drawn to the restaurant by the promise of homemade pasta. I expect homemade past to be melt-in-the-mouth delicious. I had the tortelonni and found the pasta disappointingly tough. I met a colleague for a business lunch. The water was relentless and downright sneaky in his efforts to increase our purchases: "I happen to have an open bottle of water here, can I pour you some?" The $18.00 bottle of water appeared on the bill. On the plus side, the salads were artful and delicious. The ambiance is relaxing and attractive. You can carry on a business conversation without having to raise your voice over the crowd. Perhaps another dish and another waiter would have changed my opinion."

  • "I have dined at I Ricchi for years and will continue to dine there each and every time I visit Washington, D.C. The food is excellent; service is outstanding; and ambiance is great. The location is convenient and easy to get to. Menu is well-balanced and user friendly."

  • "We used a Groupon for a dinner for 2 and everythying from food to service was outstanding. I'll definitely go back there and pay full price! Our waitress was professional and knew the menu thoroughly, recommending options that we were not aware of. The food was fantastic and we were fully satisfied when we had finished. The outdoor seating was great, except for the exhaust fumes which hit us occassionally when the breeze came our way."

  • "Overall the dinner for two groupon was a great value. Food was good; however it didn't leave me wanting to immediately return. The polenta left MUCH to be desired. The service was great. Each attendant encountered was polite, patient and pleasant. I would return to try additional dishes. The atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable."

  • "I Ricci had fabulous service; however the appetizers and main courses were nothing special. My husband had caprese salad and I had asparagus with egg and balsamic vinegar and both were alright. My husband's risotto was gummy and swimming in butter and my chicken with rosemary potatoes was pretty tasteless. However, the desserts were amazing. Chocolate meringue filled with mousse and marscapone cheesecake were both wonderful."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at I Ricchi on Saturday night. Due to Gay Pride Day, many streets were closed and others were incredibly congested. We arrived almost an hour late. But I had called to notify them and they couldn't have been nicer. The manager even gave us some suggestions for getting there without any more delays. All 4 of us enjoyed our appetizers, but my husband's fried squid were the star. The circles were tender, showing they hand't been overcooked, and the baby squid were delightfully crispy. For main courses, I loved my veal, which was perfectly cooked, as my husband did his bronzini. I must mention the service, which was incredibly attentive without being obtrusive. And my frozen meringue/ice cream/strawberry cream was yummy"

  • "It's worth saving your pennies to dine at i Ricci. My husband and I enjoy going there as a special treat and we've never been disappointed. We especially like sitting at a window table in the bar area with all the beautiful plants surrounding us. The atmosphere, coupled with outstanding menu choices, makes it Paradise indeed."

  • "While we appreciate all the information on the various dishes etc. We felt he offered more information than we wanted. More specifically, he made a considerable number of suggestions. I think it would have been better to wait to be asked."

  • "This is the worst Italian food I have ever eaten! Right from the bread to the pasta, nothing seemed to be right. And the fact that we had an overbearing waiter didn't make the experience any better. The place is extremely overpriced for the food/service they offer. I am definitely not going back again."

  • "I Ricchi's is a very nice restaurant, however, the food is mediocre at best. I have been there 3 times......each time I have used a Groupon. I would never go without one."

  • "This was the first time I dined in this wonderful place with my family. I loved it the very moment I entered - the decoration, the white tableclothes, the bakery with different sorts of bread displayed on the counter... We had Calamari Fritti and Funghi Freschi Misti for starters - both were absolutely terrific! Filetto alla Zingara also tasted great and was so soft and juicy. Grigliata Mista Della Casa looked very impressive and was excellent. Tiramisu and Crostata di Ciocolato e Pere were very tasty, seasonal berries were good but overpriced, taking into consideration the small portion. We had a magnificent dinner with delicious food and high quality service. Thanks, iRicchi. "

  • "There are not enough good things I can say about this restaurant. From the start the server was prompt and knowledgeable. My SO and I had never been to this restaurant so he recommended a few appetizers and menu items, and they did not disappoint. I got the Rockfish dinner and it was perfectly cooked, with one of the best lemon wine sauces I have ever had. My SO ordered a stuffed shell pasta that is made by hand fresh daily. Our appetizers were calamari and garlic bread. The Calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy, with just enough of a crust, SIMPLY perfect. I would recommend this 10/10 times. I must mention that it is very pricey, when I went we had a coupon that got us $170 worth of food for $70, and for two people we easily spent $200."

  • "Thought we would do a Groupon for iRicchi, although we didn't need that to return. With so many restaurant choices, it is delightful to go to a place where the service is old school - knowledgeable, courteous, discreet, timely, etc. No matter what the day, it is always the same. Wonderful! And the food is fabulous, as well!"
