Hy's Steak House - TorontoGreat room - mild disappointmentsEnjoyed the dinner - although a bit disappointed in my cut (bone-in rib) as it was a bit sinewy. My third or fourth time at Hy's, and with the great room, I still think it is a top steakhouse in Toronto. We were seated at a booth, which didn't have much leg room - seemed like the seat was too long or something - but my wife thought it was cozy so we didn't ask for a switch. The wine list is a bit disappointing. It is well presented and very organized on an tablet - but definitely lacking in selection and value. With a short list, every bottle should be interesting and fair value, so that wasn't awesome. Definitely worth a visit if you're doing the steakhouse rounds - definitely a cut above the Keg, its little brother franchise.12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for the two of usThis was one of the best I have ever experienced. Cocktail lounge with piano and live singer started the night off great as we sipped on a cocktail. We were then lead upstairs and seated by the fireplace (perfect spot for us). Service was impeccable and server knowledge of the menu was impressive. Apps were very good and enjoyed. Prime rib and rib eye were our mains and they were perfectly cooked and just melted in our mouth's. Hys people are professional and cordial. Menue provides a good variety of items. Service was its usual impeccable style. Quality of food, was to die for. The food is consistently fabulous. I'm not a big steak-eater, but the Filet A La Hy's just melts in your mouth. The twice-baked potato is a wonderful compliment to the steak. And I cannot say enough good things about the service. The staff here make dining an experience to be savoured. You never feel rushed and you are always well taken care of. They went above and beyond to help me arrange a lovely birthday surprise for my husband. Perfect place for a special occasion night out. The restaurant however, refunded our meal. On this occassion, I am glad to report that everything met our (admittedly high) standards.
