Husk RestaurantBeyond my expectations!Phenomenal overall! Service fabulous! Dinner out of this world! Everything made in house. Southern ham selections were mouth watering porky goodness! Husband's pheasant so tender it cut with a fork. Grits were smoky cheesy delicious! Coctail and wine selections expertly paired! After dinner went next door to the coolest bar I have ever been inside. Hams were curing hanging from the ceiling beams! Wow Wow Wow! Can't say enough!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dayMy daughter and I had lunch outside. We had the pimento cheese appetizer with pickled green tomatoes, fried catfish BLT, and arugula with buttermilk dressing. Everything was so fresh and and tasty! This was my third time at Husk for lunch. Now, I want to try dinner there!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience; amazingGreat experience; amazing service; unique and impressive wine list. The food was awesome too.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommendFood was excellent as was the service. Stands up to many of the best for this picky New Yorker.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the best in Charlestonhusk combines every aspect of great dining. Food, service, atmosphere are all fantastic5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWent for Mother's Day, could not have picked a better place, ate upstairs on the outside porch. We will be trying Husk for dinner soon. Outstanding food5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food, Fabulous ServiceThe food was absolutely amazing. We went for mother's day brunch and it was wonderful! My father had the pigs ear app and it was one of the best dishes i have ever tried. I had the biscuits with gravy app and the Monte Carlo dish for my meal. Both were to die for and were VERY filling. My mom ordered the pancakes which were HUGE and delish! The whole experience was great, with a wonderful waiter. We will definitely be coming back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic lunchI came in with high expectations based on fantastic reviews - and each one of my expectations was exceeded!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwaiting Nashville openingDiverse and interesting menu. We had the sampling of hams appetizer and while it was very good, the addition of some different condiments paired with each type of ham would be welcome. I had their pheasant and it was superb, my wife shared the 22oz ribeye with another in our party and found it not to be as tender as it should be in a restaurant like Husk. Exceptional service from all providers and they were very knowledgeable. Not the best meal we had in Charleston, but we would return.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston GemBook in advance. There's a reason why Husk is so hot! Luncheon options were great and all uniquely southern. Share all the small plates, you can't go wrong. Server was knowledgeable with great recommendations. Looking forward to a return visit for dinner and the second Husk in Nashville.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinnerHad a really lovely dinner here. Particularly good if you are interested in what The South particularly has to offer. Service was friendly and very helpful with the menu.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy third visitVery good and last weeks meal for our part of four was very good. Very limited desert list. I suspect they want you to order after dinner drink?5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMKinda of disappointed afterKinda of disappointed after reading so many stellar reviews. For us, the food was good, but not outstanding. Ambience and service was very good, though. Don't go with high expectations!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch! We were traveling to Charleston for a couple of days and looking for places to eat and I found Husk. They had me hooked at pig ear wraps. The hubby was suspect, but one he tasted them, he was a convert. His shrimp and grits were heavenly. The chocolate mint parfait, devine. Husk is a must to anyone who is staying in Charleston.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in Charleston -Best food in Charleston - and that is saying quite a lot. We swooned over the pain perdu with crispy pigs ears. We make sure to get to Husk every time we come to Charelston.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest CHS restaurant of 2013 tripThis was the only "oldie but goodie" that we chose to repeat and we were not disappointed in the least. Menu changes with such frequency that it would be pointless to review individual dishes. We opted for four starters and only one main (plenty for 2), items came out perfectly. Superb service, fabulous décor....nuff said!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodHad the sirloin with cornbread, asparagus and grouper. All were amazing and tasty.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThe food and service was incredible. Husk did not live down to my expectations. I would recommend this to anyone!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeDelicious meal - had the soft shell crab and ribs which are both starters, but the ribs are pretty big! The place is beautiful and service very good. We were recommended a red wine that I really didn't like, but that's not really her fault! And as it was a Friday night the noise level on the second floor was really very high, be warned! Would definitely go back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant place, not worth the hypeI went with high expectations. The place is fun and the service excellent. The food was good but not outstanding.. The pig's ears were interesting but too salty. The chicken skin good but only if shared. The onion soup delicious but very rich and the vaunted cornbread only delicious if rewarmed and very hot.
Best meal I had in Charleston was Martha Lou's kitchen. Truly outstanding soul food. Best collards I have ever tasted.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHusk is up there with the best! We're from the San Francisco Bay Area, no slouch food-wise.
Our recent lunch at Husk has to rank up there with the best Foodie restaurants in the Bay.
The concept, food, presentation and service are all lovingly delivered.
We got a kick out of knowing that everything comes from sources south of the Mason-Dixon line.
We started with the Whiskey flight and loved the Willet Rye in particular.
I had the Shrimp n' Grits, and it was the best I've ever had. Wife had the housemade burger. Again, simply an awesome assembly of meat, bun and extras.
It does Southern proud!.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbWe had heard great things about Husk and were not disappointed
The soft shell crab was delicious and the ribs to die for. Charming staff too. It's along way to travel for a meal- Living in the Uk - but I'd recommend it if you're going to be there.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgood, but priceyWe're glad that we tried Husk for lunch. It's very good, but quite pricey.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHusk lived up to its reputation. This was a destination restaurant for us, and well worth the effort. Fresh interpretations of classics were exciting.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AM#1 in CharlstonBest place we ate at, food was perfect price was even better. Service I would hold against any other restaurant I have ever been.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMlives up to the (good) hypeI have been wanting to go to Husk since it opened. Recently have heard that it is getting touristy and not as good since Sean Brock is hardly ever there any more. But my out of town friends have heard of it so we went anyway. Whomever is bad-mouthing it doesn't know good restaurants or else it is just more civilized at lunchtime. The loud raves from our table were for the soft-shell crab BLTs. The onion bisque was very good and the pimento crostini was a good vegetarian option since they held the country ham. I loved the whole experience. Our waitress was helpful, informative and so thoughtful. Don't hesitate to try it no matter what you've heard. It is good value for the money. One negative - some of the cocktails not so hot.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest shrimp & grits in allBest shrimp & grits in all of CHS. Very good cocktail list. Nice service and good atmosphere.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI had to schedule my reservationI had to schedule my reservation for brunch a month in advance, and I worried that the restaurant might not be worth all the hype. I was delighted to learn that that the restaurant lived up to all of the praise. The food was fantastic! Everything on the menu sounded interesting. Our meals were perfectly prepared. Can't wait to go back for dinner and try their bourbon pairings. My only critique is that the kitchen and waitstaff seemed slow.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFun lunch with friends!Had lunch with friends visiting from out of town Was proud to have chosen HUSK - they loved it - especially the cornbread in a skillet. Also appreciates the large wooden salad bowls. All food was exceptional! Fun place for quick lunch!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best food I have everThe best food I have ever had. Everything was spectacular, from the bread/butter to the fried chicken skins to the wagyu beef and cornbread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, food presentation,Excellent food, food presentation, decor, bar, service and wine. Way too NOISY; unable to hear conversation.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLow country creative food...You'reLow country creative food...You're probably not going to see these combinations on other menus in Charleston. The service was excellent and the atmosphere beautiful. A trip to their bar is a must as well...handcrafted cocktails and unique appetizers.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to husk and absolutely loved it!! We will most certainly be back. It was so good..... We would come back to charleston just to go to husk. Everything was fresh and very tasteful without being too salty or rich. Excellent meal!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThere is so much hype withThere is so much hype with the awards and magazine articles - and the advance reservations required - sorry to say the food was just OK. The service was superior - above any others. I would recommend for the experience - we would take others but would not return just on our own. Best item we ordered was the smoked chicken wings - we would order again.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall this was a very goodOverall this was a very good experience. Food was delicious. No complaints, but I do think it is a bit over hyped. It is regarded as one of the best restaurants in Charleston, and while it is great, Charleston is so full of good restaurants on the peninsula that it is hard to say it is "the best".4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo Texas Foodies Impressed!Waiter suggestions excellent! Split plate no problem at lunch. Separate bar with limited menu next door hot spot early evening. Reservations a must, even for lunch.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphere.Great food and atmosphere. A lot of great Charleston charm in this restaurant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten there severalWe have eaten there several times and it was very good but my wife and I both noted how very small, the portions have becomes. we both had fish entrees and I'm not sure it was worth what we paid for such small portions compared to similar reteruntsmin Charleston.Food was very good however.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have had lunch here inWe have had lunch here in two separate trips. I always seem to wait until a couple of weeks before our trip to book. Never can get dinner reservations! And the reason is... This place is great and people know it! Cornmeal dusted catfish was melt in your mouth delicious. Cornbread side is a definite. Food was hot delicious as well as being pretty on the plate. Nice wine selection and specialty cocktails4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial restaurantWe had a nice table, but if I knew they had an upstairs porch area, I would have asked for a table there. The food was as good as I had heard.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHusk Restaurant truly embracesHusk Restaurant truly embraces the locavore culture! It was so refreshing to enjoy a meal where attention to detail was evident in every dish down to the rolls and butter. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the meal was served at a relaxed pace. Kudos to the entire staff!!!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the wait! Our evening at husk was one of the most memorable dinners I've had in years. The cornbread catfish was to die for and the pesto & peas chicken has become legend in our memory. Our INCREDIBLE waitress, Nicala, gave us the best recommendations for both food and wine. She was friendly, knowledgable, fun and even took a couple of fantastic pictures of us at the end! The restaurant appears to be in an old mansion that has been fully converted to a 5 star dining facility. We had a wonderful seat on the balcony in the front of the house on a perfect crisp spring evening. What a delight the whole experience was! You can be we will be back and recommend this fine establishment to anyone who's interested in in a wonderful meal in Charleston!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENT! UNIQUE PREPARATIONEXCELLENT! UNIQUE PREPARATION OF FOODS. LOCAL FOODS SPECIALTY, A DEFINITE PLUS.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely AmazingI have been searching for a perfect restaurant, and I've found it at Husk. There are only 2 restaurants in America that I call "perfect" and this is one. The attention to detail is greatly appreciated - the non-alcoholic sodas are complex and delightful. Main course, sides, dessert...all amazing. The only complaint is the tea service. Tea should be steeped in boiling water, not hot water brought to the table w/tea bags. And the earthenware cup tasted like metal and was creepy to drink out of. So, if you don't order a hot beverage, you will have a perfect meal.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss HuskOutstanding experience! Husk has a very inviting and warm interior design. The greeters and servers were very friendly. we opted for 3 appetizers and a skillet of cornbread rather than entries for 2. The portion sizes were generous and we were definitely full! Our server helped us pick out local beers to compliment our menu choices. We didn't check out the bar, but it seemed to be doing good business. Very relaxing and enjoyable dinner.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had heard a great dealWe had heard a great deal about Husk and looked forward to our brunch. Our waitress was excellent, very attentive and pleasant. The food served was hot, everything arrived at room temperature which was disappointing. While cooked it was not well seasoned With all the other choices Charleston has to offer, we will not be returning4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't hesitate, go!Our waitress, Mindy, was lively and VERY knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We were pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes (2 appetizers could easily have served a table of 4 adults). The fried chicken skins and ribs were amazing! The pheasant and chicken were easily at or near the top of our best chicken ever!! We were a bit disappointed in the cornbread (the bacon was overpowering and the bread itself lakes that little sweetness that makes cornbread great, but this did not even put a dent in our experience because everything else was amazing!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the old building...theLoved the old building...the food combinations were interesting...simple southern foods with a gourmet touch...outstanding pimento cheese...the fried chicken skins are a popular appetizer...4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Brunch and Service!!!There's a reason HUSK is named best Restaurant by Bon Appetite, and many others. They don't miss a beat, service, ambiance, food, every detail is executed with pride and expertise. Sean Brock deserves the awards and recognition, as does his entire staff. And the bar next door is just as cool!!! Our servers at both, "Smalls" at Husk and Blaire at the bar were knowledgeable, professional and really fun! Although we live in Scottsdale, AZ, we will be coming back to Charleston soon and Husk will again be at the top of our list!
Cat and Randy Frankel, GM's Zinc Bistro, Scottsdale, AZ4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMthe best meal we had in Charlestonthe best meal we had in Charleston it was SO GOOD..the ribs and the grits will never be forgotten4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
