A word from Husk Restaurant
Occupying adjacent spaces on Queen Street, Husk’s structures date back to the late 1800s. The main dining room, constructed in 1893, evokes the grandeur of Charleston, and speaks to the transformation of the city over time. Victorian details and turned columns were layered over the original Queen Anne-style façade through the years, and the buildings fell into disrepair until discovered by Husk ownership. The Neighborhood Dining Group President David Howard set into a motion an extensive remodeling effort of both. Although both buildings retain their antique charm and stately character, the renovations imbued each with a modern, minimalist theme. Like the reinterpreted food served within, each space has been laid bare, revealing reclaimed floors, original windows, and exposed brick throughout. The main house features an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven and dining room.

The ambiance is spare, clean wood and glass without color or pretense to distract from the food. Attention to the food then, must be made. The pork was delicious. Two companions had chicken with a lovely cabbage and apple accompaniment. The pork ribs starter made a sufficient and comforting meal for the third, charred just perfectly to retain the juices! Nice evening, prompt attention and will be recommended.

I live in Tx and heard a local radio host talking about Husk...praising the food. Knowing i would be visiting Charleston in a couple of months i made reservations. Our party of four enjoyed everything from wine and appetizers to dessert. Each course was so flavorful, creative with local fresh ingredients. Even my husband who prefers burgers and pizza loved his steak! The grouper and pork were other choices we all loved. Expect to spend a bit, but well worth it.

We had twice dined at Husk Nashville and planned two days in Charleston so we could try the original Husk and McCrady's. We were not disappointed. We shared fried chicken skins and the chilled sweet corn soup for starters. Local chicken with spiced pecans and pan fried cabbage was excellent. The show-stopper was the Slow Cooked Heritage Pork, Black Eye Peas with Country Ham and Smoky Tomato Jus, Spicy Mustard Greens. Carolina IPA was the perfect beverage pairing with the latter.

Just spent couple days/nights in CHS, hit numerous restos, two-four dishes at each. All good food but Husk (lunch) really hit a home run. Daily menu, southern sourced, modern southern. Typically charming Charleston décor, hard surfaces mean lots of noise which might bother some on a busy night. Lunch pricing very reasonable, nice glass wine list. Highly recommend for lunch (don't know dinner), would go back without hesitation.

We are originally from Nashville, so was familiar with Husk, but did not get to enjoy the location there. We transplanted to Atlanta, so made it priority to visit on our trip to Charleston. Husk did not disappoint! Everything was stellar, food was incredible. Drinks next door in the carriage house were great. Bourbon selection was good. We loved it!

I am not sure if it is because I went into it with such high expectations but we were a little disappointed at the food. I am attributing this to restaurant week because it was extremely busy etc. I was expecting to leave there saying "wow that was delicious!' However, I left feeling like I could have eaten the same thing somewhere else in Charleston for much cheaper. I love the whole concept of local farms and fresh food that Husk provides. It was most notable in my marinated peaches salad which was actually delicious as well as my husband's pimento cheese appetizer. Our entrees were the disappointing part. My atlantic lumberjack entree lacked a lot of flavor and his catfish was "okay."

We could only get a lunch reservation and I was not that hungry, but the food was so good I had to make room. I enjoyed all the places we went while in Charleston, but this place was the best. Our food had layers of flavors with none of them too dominant or lacking. Husk was a perfect. BTW: Nick was a great waiter.

Ugh. We were really looking forward to Husk. I have to say the burger was inedible. Not sure what type of meat it was. Two thin patties. I took two bites and had enough. The roasted potatoes on the side were good. My coworker had shrimp and grits and thought it was decent. So much for the "best burger" reviews. Even the locals commented that Husk was getting way too much positive publicity.

The experience my girlfriend and I had at Husk was incomparable to most other dining experiences we've ever had. The service at all levels was impeccable, and the wait staff was immeasurably attentive and certainly made us feel comfortable. The menu was exciting and fun to examine - they have a fantastic array of cocktails and wines available. We had a glass of Malbec that was to die for, and we are currently trying to find a bottle of it for our home. The dinner was nothing short of brilliant, and all I can really say beyond that is to make a reservation immediately because you are going to have one helluva great experience at Husk.

I had made reservations at Husk about 2 months ago for my husband's birthday. Luckily it ended up coinciding with Charleston Restaurant Week. Unlike most restaurants, Husk serves a regular menu with regular portions. And the freshness and flavor is as delicious as the non restaurant week full price menu.

My husband and I dined here on our honeymoon - we had made the reservation weeks in advance and it turned out to be restaurant week when we were there. We stopped first at the bar which is a separate building to the right of the restaurant, the bartenders were great and the ambiance there was amazing. The bartender also offered to call over to the restaurant to check-in for our table and we were then called when we were ready. We were seated at and inside table, far from the windows, which was kind of a bummer because it was such a special occasion but it was also nice to be secluded. The food was AMAZING and lived up to our expectations. Appetizers & Dinner phenomenal, dessert was ok (moon pie with root beer float). Overall amazing though!

To say our dinner was amazing was an understatement. Make sure to get to HUSK early so you can enjoy a drink at the HUSK bar next door. It's cool and trendy with an awesome drink list. I recommend trying the ciders! When we sat down for dinner they greeted us with a menu that said "Happy Anniversary" and came over with two champagne flutes filled with cider. It's the little things that make us happy :) We had dinner during restaurant week and everything we tried was absolutely amazing. Pig ear lettuce wraps, pimento cheese baguette appetizers, cornmeal dusted catfish and deep fired duck confit. OMG. Seriously the best meal my husband and I have ever eaten, and what better time to go then for our anniversary!

We dined at Husk on a Weeknight during Restaurant Week. The decor was attractive, but unremarkable; although it is kind of unusual to have to walk outside between buildings to go from the bar to the restaurant. Service was quite good, other than the fact that our appetizers arrived before the wine. My husband had the duck confit; a modest portion, but delicious. I ate the fried catfish, lightly breaded and crisply fried, it was good but not exciting. I had been looking forward to the pigs ears wrapped in lettuce and I was very disappointed. The bits of pork were so overcooked and dried out that each bite was tooth-threateningly hard and flavorless. I would go back to Husk and sample from some of the other dishes on the regular menu.

We celebrated our anniversary here. Had very high expectations coming in an all were met! Some highlights: Fried oysters were fantastic; they were so delicately breaded yet bounding in flavor. Pork main dish was spectacular. Even the mustard greens (nb: I'm not a fan) were delicious! We were less impressed with the desserts - maybe because there was no where to go but down. Mind you, there were still good, but not particularly memorable. Personalized menus and champagne toasts were above and beyond. Wonderful evening.

A friend and I decided to meet for lunch at Husk. He had their famous cheeseburger and I had my first taste of catfish. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal; everything was cooked to perfection. I especially liked the mix of corn and boiled peanuts that accompanied my catfish. The staff was accommodating; our waiter personable and well-informed on the menu. For dessert I had the peach bread pudding which was so light, full of peaches, and did not leave me feeling overfull or heavy in the stomach. So far, I have eaten at Husk for brunch, lunch, and dinner; I have never been disappointed. I'll be back!
