A word from Husk Restaurant
Occupying adjacent spaces on Queen Street, Husk’s structures date back to the late 1800s. The main dining room, constructed in 1893, evokes the grandeur of Charleston, and speaks to the transformation of the city over time. Victorian details and turned columns were layered over the original Queen Anne-style façade through the years, and the buildings fell into disrepair until discovered by Husk ownership. The Neighborhood Dining Group President David Howard set into a motion an extensive remodeling effort of both. Although both buildings retain their antique charm and stately character, the renovations imbued each with a modern, minimalist theme. Like the reinterpreted food served within, each space has been laid bare, revealing reclaimed floors, original windows, and exposed brick throughout. The main house features an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven and dining room.

I am not sure if it is because I went into it with such high expectations but we were a little disappointed at the food. I am attributing this to restaurant week because it was extremely busy etc. I was expecting to leave there saying "wow that was delicious!' However, I left feeling like I could have eaten the same thing somewhere else in Charleston for much cheaper. I love the whole concept of local farms and fresh food that Husk provides. It was most notable in my marinated peaches salad which was actually delicious as well as my husband's pimento cheese appetizer. Our entrees were the disappointing part. My atlantic lumberjack entree lacked a lot of flavor and his catfish was "okay."

The experience my girlfriend and I had at Husk was incomparable to most other dining experiences we've ever had. The service at all levels was impeccable, and the wait staff was immeasurably attentive and certainly made us feel comfortable. The menu was exciting and fun to examine - they have a fantastic array of cocktails and wines available. We had a glass of Malbec that was to die for, and we are currently trying to find a bottle of it for our home. The dinner was nothing short of brilliant, and all I can really say beyond that is to make a reservation immediately because you are going to have one helluva great experience at Husk.

I was nervous about it being a Chef's menu with a few options but my boyfriend and I just ordered two different menus and shared the variety. Both options we chose was excellence. Thank you so much for making our romantic birthday dinner special. My boyfriend was not expecting the birthday candle on his dessert or us singing off key very loudly to him. (Sorry about the noise ordinance violation) 😜

I had made reservations at Husk about 2 months ago for my husband's birthday. Luckily it ended up coinciding with Charleston Restaurant Week. Unlike most restaurants, Husk serves a regular menu with regular portions. And the freshness and flavor is as delicious as the non restaurant week full price menu.

To say our dinner was amazing was an understatement. Make sure to get to HUSK early so you can enjoy a drink at the HUSK bar next door. It's cool and trendy with an awesome drink list. I recommend trying the ciders! When we sat down for dinner they greeted us with a menu that said "Happy Anniversary" and came over with two champagne flutes filled with cider. It's the little things that make us happy :) We had dinner during restaurant week and everything we tried was absolutely amazing. Pig ear lettuce wraps, pimento cheese baguette appetizers, cornmeal dusted catfish and deep fired duck confit. OMG. Seriously the best meal my husband and I have ever eaten, and what better time to go then for our anniversary!

We dined at Husk on a Weeknight during Restaurant Week. The decor was attractive, but unremarkable; although it is kind of unusual to have to walk outside between buildings to go from the bar to the restaurant. Service was quite good, other than the fact that our appetizers arrived before the wine. My husband had the duck confit; a modest portion, but delicious. I ate the fried catfish, lightly breaded and crisply fried, it was good but not exciting. I had been looking forward to the pigs ears wrapped in lettuce and I was very disappointed. The bits of pork were so overcooked and dried out that each bite was tooth-threateningly hard and flavorless. I would go back to Husk and sample from some of the other dishes on the regular menu.

We celebrated our anniversary here. Had very high expectations coming in an all were met! Some highlights: Fried oysters were fantastic; they were so delicately breaded yet bounding in flavor. Pork main dish was spectacular. Even the mustard greens (nb: I'm not a fan) were delicious! We were less impressed with the desserts - maybe because there was no where to go but down. Mind you, there were still good, but not particularly memorable. Personalized menus and champagne toasts were above and beyond. Wonderful evening.

A friend and I decided to meet for lunch at Husk. He had their famous cheeseburger and I had my first taste of catfish. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal; everything was cooked to perfection. I especially liked the mix of corn and boiled peanuts that accompanied my catfish. The staff was accommodating; our waiter personable and well-informed on the menu. For dessert I had the peach bread pudding which was so light, full of peaches, and did not leave me feeling overfull or heavy in the stomach. So far, I have eaten at Husk for brunch, lunch, and dinner; I have never been disappointed. I'll be back!

We could not get a dinner reservation at this restaurant during our visit and decided to go for lunch. Dishes were very small for lunch, so we would have expected more in quantity, although quality was good.

Our party of four dined at Husk for lunch. The building is charming, service was exceptional, overall a delicious lunch for everyone. We found the lunch menu to be limited. Our request to omit certain ingredients from a meal were honored but adding a vegetarian option to the menu would go a long way.

We have hoped to get a chance to eat at Husk for several years. Every time we were heading to Charleston, it was booked at the time/day we could go. FINALLY, we got there this week. Even on a Wednesday evening during the "shoulder" season (if there really is such a thing in Charleston), there was a nice crowd of diners. We had the most wonderful waiter, Chris, who was so very knowledgeable about every item on the menu as well as the bar menu. He was perfect - not hovering but always taking care of our needs. He encouraged questions and obviously enjoyed talking about the food. It was Restaurant Week in Charleston, so we were "forced" to have 3 courses - all were so delicious and lovely to the eye. Best thing ever was the cornbread.

My wife and I were in Charleston for five days over Labor Day weekend. We ate lunch here our last day in town and it was by far the best lunch/brunch that we had while in SC. We had the shrimp and grits, which was notably better and different than the traditional shrimp and grits that we had had previously, as well as the pork sandwich and pimento/ham appetizer, both of which were outstanding. Our salad came split into two separate bowls without our having to ask, which was a nice touch. In addition to the food, the drink menu was unique and interesting. Of all of the places we went to eat in Charleston, Husk stood out for its ingenuity, ambiance and the tastiness.

We visited Husk for lunch while in Charleston. They are booked pretty well in advance which is why we went for lunch as no dinner reservations were available. The restaurant is in an old house which is a unique setting. The food was delicious and flavors were not something you would find at another restaurant. The chef incorporates the freshest ingredients based on what is available that day so the menu changes daily. In addition to the food they have inventive cocktails which were again unique and yummy. I highly recommend Husk for a unique dining experience.

Made our reservation two months in advance and were very eager to dine at Husk. Ambiance: I was expecting the interior to carry the same character and charm as the exterior and was disappointed to walk into what looked like the lobby of a nice chain hotel. It was stiff and not homey as anticipated. Service: From start to finish we felt rushed. It was just two of us and we felt as though we were being ushered through their system. Asked immediately what we wanted to drink and after that to order. Not to mention there was no introduction to what ther restaurant is all about - southern farm to table with the menu changing daily. The food: Most disappointing. Corn bread that was dry and flavorless and steak that was fatty and flavorless.

We were so very disappointed with our evening here. While the food was ok - it did not live up to the hype. We found the presentation of the salad in a "C" on the plate to be silly & pretentious as it did not bring anything to the flavor or taste. The fried chicken strips were really not good. The pork had too much fat... Regarding the service - not once were we asked if we were enjoying ourselves or if everything was fine. We had a minor spill of water at the table and no one came by to help out as we scrambled for extra napkins. My husband had to leave the table to get someone. Proof that no one was overseeing the room or if the guests needed anything. After dining at McCrady's we could not believe this was the same Chef or group.

My husband and I were in Charleston and friends had recommend Husk. We were not able to get dinner reservations so opted for lunch. We were charmed by the location of the restaurant in a remodeled home. Tables were placed a very nice distance apart, enabling privacy. Our food was delicious. We started with pigs ear lettuce wraps. The filling was crispy, with pickled vegetables and a sweet sauce. It was such a fabulous dish we almost ordered two more. But wanting to try other items we had shrimp and grits , which was made unique with the addition of roasted corn and tomatoes. We loved it! Our service was swift, friendly, helpful and relaxed. Could not have been better. Add in a great drink and wine list and we say Husk is a must go!
