  • "Food was a modern take on southern comfort. Ordered the johnny cakes with pimento cheese as an appetizer. Perfect portion size to share and you could taste the freshness. Wife had shrimp and grits and was surprised that it comes with a poached egg. The stock was excleent and fresh. Had a slight heat to it but nothing too much. I had the pork belly and it was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection and it was juicy with the right amount of seasoning. The fresh vegetables accented the main course. For dessert we shared the O&S chocolate creme. Amazing!!! Drinks were great and service was on point."

  • "Our experience was disappointing. I made the reservation a week in advance- after that, I got 4 email reminders and 1 telephone call that I had to return to confirm that we were coming. 3 of us came in 1 car. Our 4th was to meet us there. When we arrived, we were told that we couldn't be seated until our 4th arrived. None of that was told to me in any of the 5 contacts Husk made. All we wanted after a long day at work was good wine+a wonderful meal. I had to argue with the hostess to let us sit down and order a bottle before our 4th arrived. A really terrible way to start what should have been a lovely evening. The food was good and the server was helpful but there are lots of very nice places in Nashville that make us feel welcome."

  • "Husk is one of the greatest restaurants to open in Nashville in the past 5 years. We've been twice and were simply blown away. Every appetizer and entree I've had delighted, teased, and stimulated every taste bud. Every single item is made from ingredients found in the American south- even the cooking oils they use. Their clever ways of preparing simple, traditional meats and vegetables, especially pork, are never disappointing. The cocktails are also fantastic, and feature interesting seasonal concoctions. This is perfect place for a date or romantic occasion, and I hope to soon checkout their version of happy hour, Husky hour."

Its not exactly the place for quiet and romantic but there is a great energy and creativity that is celebrated here. Go, be surprised by the ever changing menu, and relax.   • "Having eaten at Husk in Charleston, my husband and I knew we would be in for a treat. We made reservations there for our very first meal in Nashville and we were definitely impressed. Equally impressive was the waiter who not only gave us impeccable service, but went so far as to write down a list of other "must eats" around town. We will most certainly be back."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation and were told that they would seat us as soon as they could. We went 2 the bar. There were 2 other parties that came in to the bar way after us and they were seated way before us. We were not seated until our reserved time which would have been ok if the other parties had not been seated first. Also, there were many empty tables. As far as the food goes, it is way over priced for the quality. Steak was unbelievably tough and fish dish was very salty. Will not be back!!!"

  • "Dined at Husk for the first time and was eager to experience the food, service and surroundings. While the restaurant is situated in a beautiful location and housed in a quaint old home, the atmosphere was a bit chaotic and noisy. Granted it was a Friday evening, but the noise level made conversation very difficult. We were there a birthday celebration and it was unfortunate to have to shout over the noise. The food was interesting and creative but I've had fantastic food at many local restaurants at comparable prices. Cocktails were imaginative but nothing warranting $12 per drink. Our wait person was dull and not personable at all. She knew we were celebrating a birthday on July 3 but didn't comp the dessert! We won't be back."

  • "From the charm that oozes as you pull up to the door, to the friendly hostesses that greeted us at the door to the excellent, professional serving staff, and to every last flavorful bite, this was an outstanding dining experience. There are not words to describe the sublime flavors in the shrimp & grits appetizer and, while you may be tempted by other desserts, the soft serve sundae was out of the park good. I can confidently recommend Husk for a most enjoyable and delicious night out."

  • "The stars of our evening included the pork buns and shrimp grits appetizers and the massive, aged steak entree. Definitely ask about the price before ordering any specials: the small-sized massive steak was $82.50! Dessert was fantastic: we ordered ice cream with salted caramel and potato chips, which got the attention of several diners seated close to us. Our server was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made excellent wine suggestions. Our only complaint about the service was that she forgot to bring us our parker dinner rolls (which we realized when we saw them delivered to other tables) and had to be asked three times for water refills. The place was hopping and as the evening passed, got louder and hotter."

  • "We celebrated our 42th anniversary and had a memorable evening at Husk Restaurant. It was a bit of a learning experience with the food and we enjoyed it. After eating we strolled through the gardens in the back to complete our evening. The house setting on the hill is very pleasant and starts the evening off with a nice touch. Everything was delicious, especially the chess pie! We had eaten chess pie all our lives but never like that...wonderful! Johnny cakes and chess pie...oh my!!!"

  • "Our experience at Husk was a good one. Husk is in an interesting coverted home that has you walk through the kitchen on the way downstairs to the main dining room. We started with drinks and an app. Husk has an extensive cocktail menu that featured some very original mixes. There are several good craft beers. We went with the Johnnycakes with Nettles for the app. It was quite good and had a nice spicy finish. For the main course, we went with ribs and the red snapper stew. Both were very good. The fish head soup had a great flavor to it and the snapper was excellent. The only negative is the price. I have been to several upscale restaurants and Husk is on the high side. If we had ordered wine, we would have cleared two bills on dinner"

  • "I enjoyed husk, although I found that I needed some salt for my shrimp and grits. Just a small pinch really made the dish pop. Asking for salt almost felt like an embarrassing request and it took a while to get a small dish of salt and pepper that must've been acquired from the actual chef. Maybe they thought we were plain tourists, but I come from an area where the food at the restaurants is always top-notch, I'm spoiled. Husk was delicious but just high average compared to my home. It was fun to see the locals pile in for the Tuesday fried chicken special, I should've gotten that but it sounded very spicy. We enjoyed our trout smokes devil eggs. We look forward to coming back to husk because it was one of our best meals in Nashville."

  • "We went to Husk to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations at 5pm, so we were some of the first people seated for the evening. I could see how it could get loud if the restaurant was completely full, but we were there early enough to avoid that. The food was great--I thought the serving size was just right. I loved the drink menu because of their non-alcoholic selection--I was a happy pregnant lady :)"

  • "Set in a lovely historic building just outside of downtown, Husk offers a highly unusual menu of gourmet country cooking. My friend had the pig ears in lettuce wraps - she loved them - it is just not my thing - too fatty. I had the oysters - they were fine but way too much butter was on them. We shared the Johnny Cakes with Pimento cheese - interesting and good but not great. For an entree my friend enjoyed the catfish and loved it. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was good but the grits were overloaded with grease and not very appetizing. We had a nice bottle of reasonably priced Pouilly Fuisse. All in all I found the chef was trying too hard to be creative with ingredients and combinations and missed the mark on taste."

The Southern Vegetable dinner option was simply stunning, and the pork that my wife got was well cooked. The chef highlights the freshness of these high quality ingredients. Growing up in the South, each bite brought me back to cooking with my grandmother. Thank you for transforming Southern staples into fine dining cuisine. Bravo!"

  • "Husk is a converted house, open and airy with terrific artwork & draperies but not at all stuffy. Nice appointments from the lovely contemporary chandeliers and earthy pottery dishes and charming table decorations. Our waiter was informative and amusing. Our starters were deviled eggs with trout, highly recommend these! Oysters and 24 month cured ham with mustard and rolls and pickled tomatoes. For our entrée we selected Southern vegetables which included tomatoes with sliced Royal beets and fennel, and adzuki beans and squash, Chanterelle mushrooms with poached egg and grits (very rich), and roasted broccoli with a tart dressing. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, but would happily dine here again."

  • "First the good news: the physical setting and ambiance was excellent, we were greeted, seated and welcomed as you'd expect in a restaurant of this stature. The room was light and attractive, a little like dining in someone's old mansion. The wine and cocktail list was first rate and the starter selection was wide and the three we tried (charcuterie, pigs ears and johnnie cakes) were excellent. We felt the entrée selections were too limited; and while my Red Snapper was very good and flavorful, the beef choices were less so. The steak dish ordered was a little tough and had too much going on around it. Service was excellent, but disappeared for a long stretch during the meal, typically not noticeable unless you wanting something."

  • "The brunch menu changes often, and doesn't include omelets or eggs benedict. Instead, you can order pork belly with egg, a pork chop biscuit, potato hash confit..... Husk makes its own juice for Bloody Mary drinks - very spicy and delicious. Great way to welcome the day!"

  • "I am not a foodie and Husk is definitely geared to foodies. The food challenged me, but I survived and for the most part liked it. Had the crispy pig ears appetizer wrapped taco style in butter leaf lettuce. I liked it even though the thought of eating a pig's ear challenges my sensibility. Never did try the chicken hearts. The shrimp and grits was wonderful. Dessert just okay. Beyond the food, Husk is fantastic - great service and atmosphere in a perfectly retrofitted classic southern mansion. A really special place."

  • "Our meal featured the shrimp & grits (which is a twist on the classic) served soupy, braised ribs (which had some fat on them and didn't "fall off the bone"), fish and dessert... Although the atmosphere of the revamped house is lovely and the interior designer was top notch, the food could have been just a little better. If the price wasn't so high, it would have been a hit, but when you pay $30-$40 an entree, you want it to be excellent."

  • "I've been to Husk twice now, the first time I sat outside and the second I was sat in a tiny room just off the entrance with 3 tables. I felt like I was eating in the coat closet. That being said, the atmosphere everywhere else is wonderful. Our server was lively and fun and the food was pretty good. I'll be going back soon for sure, just have to request a seat downstairs."
