Diner Reviews
  • "I had the Mediterranean Stew for $30. I've had it in the past and it was very good but this time it was quite disappointing. Two shrimp, two scallops, ten mussels and one half of a tiny dried out lobster. They can do better."

  • "The Hurricane goes out of its way to make your lunch or dinner special. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and your water glass is never empty. The chef really knows what he is doing and the food always comes out hot and perfectly prepared. Whether it is swordfish, chicken, rack of lamb or steak, all dishes are prepared to perfection with a beautiful presentation. The salads and soups are always special. A truly outstanding restaurant with beautiful views of the water. Always a pleasant experience. Truly one of the best restaurants in New England."

  • "The menu offers many appealing options of locally produced foods.. Our food was tastefully prepared and accurately reflected our requests. We closed off the meal with locally roasted coffee and it was excellent! This is a restaurant you will want to re-visit frequently."

  • "Our party of four had a great experience with our dinner at Hurricanes! One comment.. I ordered a bowl of lobster bisque or stew (cannot remember what it was called.) The bowl was four times the size of any bowl of soup I had ever seen and the cost was $14. I thought it would have to be fabulous for the $$ - I was disappointed that the bowl was filled primarily with potatoes and VERY little lobster... What lobster there was was cut into minute pieces so was hardly recognizable... Quite disappointing on that front but good otherwise ... Thank you!"

  • "The Onion Soup was Luke warm. Ordered the tenderloin med rare & received one that was medium well. I decided that I would eat it & most likely would of said very little. What did bother me most was when the waitress finally came over to check on us I let her know that I wasn’t happy with my steak. She looked & said “That is medium well”. At that point she should of either taken it away or stated that she would be right out with one cooked correctly. She instead stood there saying she was sorry & finally asked me what I wanted to do with. My piece of advice, don't ask, correct the mistake! While they didn't charge me for a steak that I really didn’t eat, I came to eat & pay for a meal. I did not come to receive a partial meal for free."

  • "Had what is probably our 100th great meal in a row. Their Tuesday night suppers are the best deal in town, arguably the state! Best bread in town and a very accommodating staff. Will be back soon and often."

  • "I had the the $50 baked stuffed lobster. Everything was good. Nothing was particularly exceptional. I would recommend the restaurant as a place for respectable seafood prepared in traditional ways."

  • "Dined at The Hurricane Sunday evening....what a great restaurant!! I chose the seafood stew, which was prepared with scallops, clams, mussels, shrimp and 1/2 a steamed lobster... So o incredibly delicious...the almond pesto always takes this dish over the top!!! My husband had the filet served with whipped potatoes and cartelized brussels sprouts...he's not a fan of those mini cabbages, but there wasn't a one left on his plate...!!! We both truly enjoyed every mouthful of our dinners and can't wait to return!!"

  • "Beginning last year we have attended several of the community suppers. The 3 entrees they offer for special pricing are great ! Service is prompt and friendly! Our family buys gift certificates for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. so we can enjoy the community suppers through the off peak season. Love looking out over the river watching kayakers and sunset!!"

  • "We have eaten many of time at Hurricane's in K'Port. It is the quintessential New England/Maine/Kennebunkport experience. Typical lobster and other seaford dishes one would come to expect in K'Port...as well as other meat, pasta and other offerings. While never disappointed and perfectly adequate, I also am never WOW'ed by the experience. The location is great, the wait staff is very informative and responsive...and the ambience is excellent...but the food is just 'good' to 'fair'. It is not the first place we think about eating when we are in the area...which is a lot...so, while it will not disappoint, I also think it does not inspire the real 'foodie'."

  • "The food is always great. Limited menu, but always something for everyone. The service on this visit was lacking. This is the issue here, sometime you have great service other times it seems not. On this night it took two plus hours to have appetizer, two beverages and an entree. Waited on average fifteen minutes for drinks to arrive after they were ordered each time. Waitress never checked on us except to take orders. If you are willing to gamble on service, the food is well worth the visit."
