Diner Reviews
  • "We had a table by a window overlooking a part of the golf course and it was beautiful. I commented to my husband that I really liked the lighting in the restaurant; very dim lit and romantic. The food (prime rib and halibut) were outstanding! Great service as well. The hostess was very pleasant and energetic. I would have liked a bit more time to hear more about the food specials that night. It seemed our waitress kind of blurted them out and then asked right then if we were ready to order. Overall, great experience and we would definitely come back when in the area again!"

  • "Our halibut was dry - seervice was fair. As historically food and service have been great, this was a disappointment"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Hunt Club. Wine, food and our server Alice were excellent. The only negative was it took an hour to recieve our entrees. So if you are up for great food and are not in time crunch, this is your place. Reasonable pricing. Three adults with a bottle of wine was $210 (includes 20%+ tip)."

  • "The food at the Hunt Club was tasted excellent however there were lots of little oops throughout the night. The wrong dinner came out first, then my girlfriend steak was underdone and mine was cold, then when the food came back our "plate fillers" were on each other's plates... Everything tasted amazing though and the staff tried to make it up to us with a free dessert. Unfortunately, the dessert was not what was expected and then to top it all off the bill had the wrong steak added to it and needed to be fixed. I would try it again as the food tasted good and the staff tried hard to make everything right, but it wasn't the greatest of experiences."

  • "I was so pumped up for the BBQ burger in which they had on the menu on here and on the website, but when we got to the restaurant they had changed the menu and this was not an option. Beings I work as a cook in a restaurant I know that you can always satisfy the customer but they did not. They need to update the menus because. This should not have happened and I will never go back"

  • "We usually go to Lake Geneva for our anniversary. My husband wanted to try the Inns at Geneva National and the Hunt Club. While at the Club, what impressed me most was the staff, especially the hostess. She was totally hands on, helping the wait staff and came by our table to ask how we were. The food was superb and the service was fantastic. This was really a memorable occasion for us."

  • "The Hunt Club Steakhouse was absolutely fantastic. A true find. The food, service was outstanding. The best meal I have had in as long as I can remember"

  • "I wasn't pleased with what you got for your money. The salmon was over cooked, we received 4 small strips of chicken (maybe 6 oz. if lucky) in our pasta dish, the rib eye steak appeared to maybe be 10 oz. (not the size advertised in menu). Overall, for what we were charged, I would of expected more, I wasn't impressed. I was expecting to be blown away by the taste of the food and the overall experience because we had heard several good comments about the restaurant. I would think twice before returning."

  • "The Hunt Club runs like a well oiled machine, with the friendliest service you could ask for, in a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. No matter what you have for food, you won't be disappointed. Extensive wine list to please anyone, at fair prices. My favorite place to go and have a long enjoyable dinner spending quality time with my husband."

  • "Took my bride for a nice Valentines 5 course special dinner and was underwhelmed or say the least. Calimari was mushy and very fishy tasting. I could not finish. Lobster bisque was fabulous and the main course was so, so. Lobster tail was well over cooked and mush. Steak was over seasoned, but cooked to perfection. The plate as a whole, however, was Luke warm. Wine selection leave a lot to be desired. For those who do not wish a bottle, choices are limited to a choice of 2. Not the experience that I anticipated for the $ spent."

  • "Very slow bar service. Extremely limited menu if you don't eat meat. Even when the bar isn't busy, it's difficult to get good service."

  • "If you want a water view it appears you will be seated in the bar. The bar area was quite busy. The dining room area was nice and very charming. The food was ok, nothing incredible. We felt it was VERY over priced. We will not return."

  • "I never mind paying the price, if the food and service are worth it. Unfortunately food was ok, and service was fair, not worth the price."

  • "There were 5 of us gals out for dinner and we had a lovely table by the fireplace which was great as it was very cold out. The bartender was very nice and helpful and our waitress and hostess couldn't have been nicer. We had a couple of very good appetizers. I had Lobster Bisque which was very good and a couple gals had that wedge salad that was also so good plus sandwiches and a pasta dish. Couldn't have asked for anything more! Definitely will return!!!"

  • "I took my husband there for a his birthday. He opted for the Walleye special which was very good. I got the prime rib special which was not good. It was tough and tasteless. The veggies were good and the dessert was good. I was so dissappointed with the prime rib, especially when they are supposed to be a steak house that I won't go back. It's also quite pricey for what we got."

  • "Wonderful dining experience! The food was amazing, appetizers were great, sides were great, meal was perfect & dessert was outstanding! Service was friendly & knowledgeable! We had a wonderful time and will for sure teturn"

  • "Everything we had, beef, veggies etc. had way too much salt. So much so that that was all you tasted. If you're in the Lake Geneva area, and want a great steak, go to the Grand Geneva Chophouse. For the same expense, that experience is well worth it. But pass on the Hunt Club Steakhouse, unless of course, you like excessive amounts of salt in your food."

  • "We were delighted with the charming exterior and warm and modern interior. However, food was fair to average. Mash potatoes were cold. My walleye pike was fishy tasting and dry, even after I put a huge lump of butter on it. Had to resort to that because once again, our waitress never returned to the table to ask how things were and couldn't be seen. She was not a server you would expect at that price point. Never asked if we wanted apps until we flagged her down, always missing in action...except when promoting a pumpkin beer on Dec. 30 (looks like the fall special didn't move well). I would not return on my next visit to the area."

  • "Was staying at a resort and wanted to find a steakhouse for dinner. This place has a great ambience and our steaks and lobster were outstanding! We will be back!"

  • "We had a group of 8 for the Monday night prime rib, and overall we had a great time. First, we were greated at the door, our coats taken, and we were shown to our table. We started with drinks which were were large and good. Appetizers were also very good (shrimp cocktail and crab cake). The downside of the evening was that all of our prime ribs arrived cool, almost cold. The accompaning sides were hot, but the meat was not. The prime rib was large as promised, and good. Service was too slow for some of our group, but I thought it was just right, except when I wanted a second drink. It was noisy, some of it caused by our group. However, we were sitting in the bar area and expected the noise level to be higher."

  • "Celebrating our 21st anniversary, we picked this restaurant based on a friend' recommondation. They were hosting a wedding reception & they were clearly overwhelemed. We waited 20 mins for our reserved table, they sat us at the bar to wait & charged almost $10 for a diet coke & bottle of Miller LIte. Service was very slow, the waitress apologized. Our Wedge salad was so small, they should've been embarrassed to charge for it. Our steaks and potatoes were barely warm, we didn't send them back because we waited long enough and were hungry. The quality of the food & the plating made it obvious we were an afterthought. The best part of the meal was the pumpkin cheesecake that we shared, it was obviously not made in-house."

  • "You want an amazing steak....come here. We came in and each of us had the best steaks we have ever had along with the 3 mac n cheese...you just dont even know how good it is. Drinks were perfect and so was the service. Give it a try!"

  • "We went to this lovely restaurant just after a snow storm so we were one of just three tables filled. This might skew our experience a bit because we received wonderful personalized attention and had the best table in the restaurant. Lovely staff and nice ambience. I didn't think it was the best steak I've ever had in this price range but all my sides were excellent."

  • "We had not been to the Hunt Club in several years and were pleasantly surprised. New menu, new décor, at the same beautiful location. There were three in our party, and we all ordered steak--2 Prime Rib and 1 Filet. All were done exactly as requested and were delicious. The "Truffle Fries" (Why hasn't anyone thought of that before?) were great and I recommend them. For desert we had Crème Brulee, coffee, and a Drambuie to cap off a perfect meal."

  • "We celebrated our 12th anniversary dining at the bar. We made a Tapas-Style dinner, ordering 6 different apps, soups and salads. Very pleased with each and every dish. We will be back for our 13th!"

  • "Excellent food!!! Definitely will be back!! Great wine list. Noise level too high with bar tables mixed with dining room. These need to be moved to separate walked off area."

  • "We would come back to try the steak and/ or other menu offerings, I had pasta, which was very good. My husband had the 1/2 chicken. He felt is was scrawny, not cooked very well and had very little flavor. The hostess and wait staff were wonderful."

  • "Not our first time at the Hunt Club Steakhouse, but the first time we had ordered the steak. Done to perfection and the flavors were excellent. Everything we ordered was perfect from appetizers to dessert. Our friends, who happen to be wine connoisseurs, were extremely impressed by the wine list and we couldn't have asked for better service. Highly recommend."

  • "Wonderful night out at The Hunt Club! 4 gals for a birthday dinner and food was great. We went with the lighter menu and our sandwiches, soup an salads were just perfect! Waitress was excellent and the hostess Very accommodating! Will definitely go back!"

  • "My wife raved about her walleye -- but my prime rib had absolutely no taste whatsoever. That is curious for a restaurant that bills itself as a steakhouse."

  • "Firs,t this a steak house that does not serve a baked potato . Never came a cross something like that. Second, we went with another couple and the food was good and the service was good but at the end when we got the bill we found that they charged an additional fee if you had a whiskey on the rocks ($.95) and if you asked for a Scotch and asked for ice in a separate glass to mix for yourself that was an additional $0.71. The bill was over $300 for the four of us. The point was not the amount of the total bill but we have never had this experience of being charged for ICE.. We questioned the bill but they insisted it was necessary to charge. They got their pennies but lost 4 customers."

  • "This offers all kinds of foods, I loved the beef kabobs and house salad....The artichoke appetizer has a lot of cream cheese in it. The lobster bisque is unique and great. The prime sandwich is very good and inexpensive. The fireplace was great too."

  • "Variety could be improved. Steakhouse can't compare to ones in Chicago. Really was a better restaurant about three years ago with a terrific innovative young chef. Had planned to make New Year's Eve reservations but will not. Lake Geneva needs a more updated restaurant. Service was exceptional from waitress to bus staff. Seating not comfortable with raised tables that do not contribute to a more expensive restaurant. Seems to have an identity crisis between casual and fancy."

  • "My husband had the sea bass and loved it. It was a good size piece of fish. I had the prime rib and it was average. Not very thick. Taste was decent, but more like a steak."

  • "We went here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The service and food was great, but there were many large groups dining and my husband and I could not hear each other talk because it was so noisy. This place is not meant for a quiet romantic dinner."

  • "We dined here about a year and a half ago and my wife and I loved it. The service was amazing and the food was the same. It didn't live up to our first time memories. The service was good by the hostess and bar staff, but the waitress was less than good. I don't think we will be back for a long time, which is sad because this was where we had our first dinner after getting engaged a couple years ago."

  • "We were a group of 6 and waited for hour before getting our food. About 45 minutes into our wait, we finally received some bread, with no apologies or explanations. Our group ordered an array of food, from steaks to sandwiches to pasta. Steaks were cooked great, but lacking in flavor. The pasta was okay, nothing special (lacking in flavor), and certainly could not detect the Boursin cheese that was supposed to be in there. The sandwiches were okay. Server was very friendly, but again, provided no explanations as to the food delay. We forgot to ask her beforehand to separate the checks (our bad) and when we asked if this was possible, she was no longer friendly. Ambience was wonderful, but not enough to warrant another visit just for this."

  • "Second time here. Food was good. Service slow. View very good. Restaurant is in the bar and the tables have been changed to high seating for some reason and are very uncomfortable. Prices quite high for what you get."

  • "We ate at the Hunt Club at Geneva National in Lake Geneva, WI. The food was great - nice selection and nice portion size. It was a Saturday evening so we expected a crowd, but the service was terrible. We had to wait, with our menus for 25 minutes before our order was taken. The food arrived slow, the plates were not cleared... it felt like we were invisible to the wait staff. The chairs were so heavy, that all of the ladies needed assistance to get into and out of the chairs. They were higher than average and our feet dangled. We own a home at Geneva National and we like the location of the Hunt Club, but this last visit has made a poor impression."
