Three of us were here for
restaurant week, two of us ordered from the special menu and the other ordered the Chicken off of the full menu. We shared our food and enjoyed all of it, but the Chicken as other reviewers had stated is excellent. We got there on the early side of dinner and our server was also the hostess and a food runner. The bar was super busy and behind, but our Serv-Host-Runner was on top of everything, even running to hold the door and wish us a good night on the way out. More staff may have come on as dinner got into full swing, but they seemed understaffed from what I could tell. I wouldn't be surprised if other users would find the service lacking when receiving a normal server and not the superhero like server we had."

Food was just OK...Nothing
memorable, nothing I would be excited to tell my friends about...Appetizers were delivered promptly and then it took approx. 30 minutes to get our entrees, and that's 30 minutes after our app's were cleared...it was only my daughter and I and we arrived @ 5:15, so it's not like it was the peak of the dinner rush...People were pleasant, but not particularly friendly or welcoming...With so many options, this will not be on my list to return, which is too bad because I live very close and would love to have another option within walking distance. My daughter and I were excited to try Hunger and we really wanted to like it, but it was just average. I hope they improve because it's conveniently located."

Went for dinner last
night--ordered Diablo Shrimp appetizer (tasty with a little kick), Taylor Shellfish Mussels/Clams entree (not bad, though the broth felt a little bitter and one-dimensional), and House Burger with smoked pork belly/Moroccan-spiced fries (all tasty but definitely a fork-and-knife kind of burger). Also ordered a pair of cocktails--the Velvet Bullfighter (tequila, raspberry, honey--very good) and a cocktail whose name escapes me--it involved Zubrowka, Strega, cucumber, orange rosewater, and mole bitters (actually was not a fan--possibly the Strega, which I wasn't familiar with...still a stiff and well-made drink, though). Nice to see Zubrowka on the menu...a less common presence at most bars. Server (Jason?) was fantastic."

I went with a couple of friends
and it was perfect. Delicious food, great service, and great company. What else could you possibly ask for in having a great evening out?"
Dined on 4/2/2014
Food was picky, some of it great (
pork belly, steak ) some of so so ( tomato bisque ) some of it plain ( pot stickers ). Service was overly attentive, and sometimes obtrusive. We don't want you in our grill with new forks when telling a story. Food was on the good side of moderate. WIne list small but affordable. Ambience was weird. Saturday evening and no one there. Granted weather was awful. On balance, recommended with usual reservations ( no pun intended )"

We went during Dine Around Seattle
month and were impressed. The food was delicious, the service was attentive helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was really nice and spacious. We might not come here again because it's not close to us and not our usual fare, but I'd recommend it."
Dined on 3/26/2014
Excellent cassoulet and shellfish
"soup" -- like a boulliabase but with less in it. Can't wait to try the paella. Charming and helpful server. Noisy bar-type atmosphere."

We went to Hunger for the first
time Monday evening. Half the items we ordered were out of stock, but the ones we received were delicious. They were very under-staffed with two servers and one busser managing the entire restaurant. We ordered wine and dessert that they ran out of the night before. When the server brought over the bottle we chose as our second choice, he opened it and dumped wine in our glasses without allowing us to taste it first. One of us is allergic to red onions and ordered a salad without, but that modification was forgotten. After he dropped off our food, we were not checked on again until our meals were almost finished. The poor service ruined our experience at the restaurant - although the food was great."

The service was excellent and the
food was delicious. :) I would recommend it."

Its hangover breakfast lives up to
its name. Sunnyside up eggs, meat and fries drenched in gravy that's to die for. Great bloodys too. They have a mimosa buffet that seems quite popular."

I've had the pleasure of eat at
Hunger several times. The food is consistently great, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. We shared an incredible Diablo shrimp appetizer and delicious beet salad. The main forces were also delicious, I enjoyed the pappardelle, and my date (OK, wife for 27 years) had a tasty salmon fettuccine. Overall, a very enjoyable evening!"

Maybe not a fair test. Party of
four did restaurant week with wine pairing. Very busy. Two hour meal. Tried lots of different things. Nothing noteworthy except wine pairs that were universally bad. May come back to give a fair try. Nice setting and atmosphere"

Odd name for a restaurant, I think
it ought to be called, "Satisfied," because that's how I ended up."
Dined on 3/9/2014
Hunger was the perfect place to go
for an afternoon brunch! I made the reservation for 12 and we ended up a little late. The staff at Hunger saved our table for us and were really accommodating."
Dined on 3/9/2014
Love the style of the food and the
décor at this little gem! The quirky vibe of the neighbourhood is blended with a simple touch of elegance inside. The large round bar with its well adorned liquor shelving is perfect for romantic dining or making new friends. We had the lasagna and the shellfish, pair them with a salad or a delicious smoky tomato soup, and finish with just the right blend of citrus and mascarpone. Will definitely be back, with friends."
Dined on 3/5/2014
Pretty much sums it up. Been there
three times for brunch and loved it every time. This last time was the first I noticed how loud it was... Almost too loud. I noticed my boyfriend and I had to talk a bit louder, as well as those around us. Maybe we were super close to the speakers... who knows but it's a great place for brunch. Not an extensive menu but it's pretty good size. Try the Chicken & the Egg. Any of their scrambles are great. Bloody Mary's are a must. The Big Man's breakfast is literally fit for a huge appetite & really good! The sausage was a little plain, was expecting a little more savory flavor. Can't wait to try dinner sometime."

We went for Dine Around Seattle.
Good was great! Good portion sizes. Next time would skip the wine pairings because they are so small and glass pours would have been so inexpensive anyway. Waitress was very friendly and helped if we wanted a substitution"

Enjoyable evening and great food
to be shared with friends and family."
Dined on 3/6/2014
Went for Dine Around Seattle with
a limited menu. The roasted tomato soup was spectacular, truly a gem. The steak frites was okay, seasoned well but lacking a decent sauce. Dessert was a chocolate torte with espresso ice cream and caramel sauce and was divine."
Dined on 3/2/2014
This restaurant does quite a few
things very good like soup and risotto but the cassoulet was not as intense as it should be"

This was for a valentines date &
the food & service were outstanding. Ask for Victoria as a server."
Dined on 2/13/2014
We had a wonderful night out with
family at Hunger. The stuffed dates and brussel sprouts were great appetizers. I had the risotto which was cheesy, tasty and filling. Others in our party loved the penne and meatballs, lasagna and paella. The full bar added to our fun. The selection of wine at $30/bottle was not wide, but the Spanish tempranillo we had was quite nice and went well with all of our dishes. Our waiter was helpful in deciding what to order. All in all, a great evening."
Dined on 2/16/2014
Our waitress was very polite,
energetic as well as helpful finding a great bar for us to go spend the rest of the night. Valentines dinner was real good and romantic. If I come back to Seattle I will definitely be eating here again. Thanks!"

This restaurant is always great.
Waitstaff always have fantastic insight and recommendations. TVs take away a bit from the ambience. I can't make it past the million dollar risotto so thankfully my partner always order things I can try out. Great place for meeting up for friends or tasty casual dinner."

It was the day before New Years
Eve and I had last minute plans which now included dinner. Hunger was one of the places I found available and I was happy I did. It was a great atmosphere, great service, great drinks, and the food was phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the food. I would highly recommend."

This was our first time eating at
Hunger and we had a great experience. We had some friends in town who enjoy good food and we were looking for a nice night out without breaking the bank. The food was great, and we loved the "wall of wine" - $30 a bottle, and they offered us an opportunity to taste first, which was both helpful and fun. We had the paella to share, which as our server said was a little small for two, but with another small plate or two, it was perfect. Great place!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
Bartenders were great. Plenty of
great small plates. Enjoyed the stuffed dates and pork sliders Marinated olives were a little salty, but everything else was great"
Dined on 12/13/2013
Their "House Burger" is to die
for, and don't even think about NOT adding the pork belly on top. Every bite is a taste of heaven. A side of brussel sprouts will round out a perfect meal. And the service is terrific."

Great food, interesting wines,
friendly and professional service."

Came here for dinner with a friend
to catch up. Our waitress was very attentive and not too pushy. It was not as busy as it would be on a weekend, but it still had an energetic, upbeat feel. We started with the Gnocchi (recommendation by waitress), follwed by Diablo Shrimp, and then the Brisket, to share. I could have ordered the Gnocchi as an entree, it was DELICIOUS. The shrimp kept you wanting to go back for more, and the Brisket was the closer. We would have kept ordering more deliciousness if we weren't so full. Thank you Hunger! Highly recommend."

Out with friends, one of whom
likes everything. Really. Everything. Except goat cheese. (I know, that's crazy - goat cheese is awesome, right? Well, he doesn't like it) Without making a big deal he asked for the salad he ordered to be made sans goat cheese. Time passes, our salads come out with a flourish, but my friend says "is that goat cheese/" Sure enough, goat cheese, but the server doesn't say a word. He looks like he's about to burst into tears or possibly fall on his sword or something. Good lord! It's not that big a deal! Just go make one without goat cheese! Which is exactly what happened. Everyone happy! A couple of other amusing things happened, but we had a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends!"

Hunger tries. It really does. Its
menu is broad Continental, blending Spanish, Italian and French dishes on a menu that seems designed to please Seattle's foodie crowd. The old Dad Watsons space has been transformed, and the night we went, the energy was vibrant, and the mood ebullient. Perfect, right? Well, not quite, and it may just have been an off night on some of these things, so, grain of salt. First off, our server was awesome. She was bright, positive, and sold the food with verve. The food, however, disappointed. The cheese plate, for 13 dollars, was laughably small. The Wild Mushroom risotto was almost all button mushrooms. Some of the items seem lifted off of other menus (Tango, etc.) The steak/frites was good. Overall, a "meh"."
Dined on 11/15/2013
While the menu isn't extensive,
the items we chose to eat were well prepared and presented and tasted good. I enjoyed being able to go up to a portion of the bar area to select my bottle of wine. The bartender gave me a taste of one that I was interested in. Overall a good dining experience."

Here in Fremont, the Center of the
Universe, surrounding the statue of Lenin, getting the meal you were hoping for can be a problem. There are plenty of tiny storefronts offering sushi or pad thai or goat stew, but their ambiance can be a little off-key. Hunger hits exactly the right note: a variety of comfortable places to sit for groups of different sizes, a well-stocked bar and beer list, a very good wine list with knowledgeable advice available, and a terrific, interesting menu running from Spain to France to Italy to the Middle East. Dress up or dress down, Fremont style."

We went for the DineAroundSeattle
promotion, sampling different courses among our party. There were some different twists on the appetizers and entrees which were quite tasty. The wine flights were paired to the specific choices of each diner. All in all, an enjoyable experience."

For quality of food and wine,
Hunger 2.0 is a very good value. The server was very familiar with the menu, very helpful and attentive."

I really wanted to like this
restaurant, but the loud music was over the top. The food was just OK and the prices were on the high side. Our server was pleasant."
Dined on 11/9/2013
The food was very tasty, and the
servings seemed to be reasonable size. Sometimes restaurants charge a lot for small plates compared with a full entree."
Dined on 8/16/2013
Stopped by for Sunday brunch.
Staff was very friendly, and the food very good, as was the bloody mary. I'll keep this place in mind when looking for someplace to eat/drink in Fremont."
Dined on 11/3/2013
My husband and I enjoyed Hunger
2.0 before a concert during the Dine Around and were overall quite satisfied with our experience. Even though we had come for dinner we decided to sit at the bar, since it was during happy hour and food and drink specials were available in addition to their full menu. Their Scotch egg appetizer was the essence of "perfect upscale bar food" and the butternut squash bisque was a highlight of our meal. The main drawback of our experience was that service was pretty slow and there was a long wait between courses even though it was a fairly slow Monday night, but everything we tried was tasty and enjoyable and we have already planned to return for happy hour the next time we visit Fremont."
