This restaurant does quite a few
things very good like soup and risotto but the cassoulet was not as intense as it should be"

This was for a valentines date &
the food & service were outstanding. Ask for Victoria as a server."

We had a wonderful night out with
family at Hunger. The stuffed dates and brussel sprouts were great appetizers. I had the risotto which was cheesy, tasty and filling. Others in our party loved the penne and meatballs, lasagna and paella. The full bar added to our fun. The selection of wine at $30/bottle was not wide, but the Spanish tempranillo we had was quite nice and went well with all of our dishes. Our waiter was helpful in deciding what to order. All in all, a great evening."

Our waitress was very polite,
energetic as well as helpful finding a great bar for us to go spend the rest of the night. Valentines dinner was real good and romantic. If I come back to Seattle I will definitely be eating here again. Thanks!"

This restaurant is always great.
Waitstaff always have fantastic insight and recommendations. TVs take away a bit from the ambience. I can't make it past the million dollar risotto so thankfully my partner always order things I can try out. Great place for meeting up for friends or tasty casual dinner."

It was the day before New Years
Eve and I had last minute plans which now included dinner. Hunger was one of the places I found available and I was happy I did. It was a great atmosphere, great service, great drinks, and the food was phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the food. I would highly recommend."

This was our first time eating at
Hunger and we had a great experience. We had some friends in town who enjoy good food and we were looking for a nice night out without breaking the bank. The food was great, and we loved the "wall of wine" - $30 a bottle, and they offered us an opportunity to taste first, which was both helpful and fun. We had the paella to share, which as our server said was a little small for two, but with another small plate or two, it was perfect. Great place!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
Bartenders were great. Plenty of
great small plates. Enjoyed the stuffed dates and pork sliders Marinated olives were a little salty, but everything else was great"
Dined on 12/13/2013
Their "House Burger" is to die
for, and don't even think about NOT adding the pork belly on top. Every bite is a taste of heaven. A side of brussel sprouts will round out a perfect meal. And the service is terrific."

Great food, interesting wines,
friendly and professional service."

Came here for dinner with a friend
to catch up. Our waitress was very attentive and not too pushy. It was not as busy as it would be on a weekend, but it still had an energetic, upbeat feel. We started with the Gnocchi (recommendation by waitress), follwed by Diablo Shrimp, and then the Brisket, to share. I could have ordered the Gnocchi as an entree, it was DELICIOUS. The shrimp kept you wanting to go back for more, and the Brisket was the closer. We would have kept ordering more deliciousness if we weren't so full. Thank you Hunger! Highly recommend."

Out with friends, one of whom
likes everything. Really. Everything. Except goat cheese. (I know, that's crazy - goat cheese is awesome, right? Well, he doesn't like it) Without making a big deal he asked for the salad he ordered to be made sans goat cheese. Time passes, our salads come out with a flourish, but my friend says "is that goat cheese/" Sure enough, goat cheese, but the server doesn't say a word. He looks like he's about to burst into tears or possibly fall on his sword or something. Good lord! It's not that big a deal! Just go make one without goat cheese! Which is exactly what happened. Everyone happy! A couple of other amusing things happened, but we had a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends!"

Hunger tries. It really does. Its
menu is broad Continental, blending Spanish, Italian and French dishes on a menu that seems designed to please Seattle's foodie crowd. The old Dad Watsons space has been transformed, and the night we went, the energy was vibrant, and the mood ebullient. Perfect, right? Well, not quite, and it may just have been an off night on some of these things, so, grain of salt. First off, our server was awesome. She was bright, positive, and sold the food with verve. The food, however, disappointed. The cheese plate, for 13 dollars, was laughably small. The Wild Mushroom risotto was almost all button mushrooms. Some of the items seem lifted off of other menus (Tango, etc.) The steak/frites was good. Overall, a "meh"."

While the menu isn't extensive,
the items we chose to eat were well prepared and presented and tasted good. I enjoyed being able to go up to a portion of the bar area to select my bottle of wine. The bartender gave me a taste of one that I was interested in. Overall a good dining experience."

Here in Fremont, the Center of the
Universe, surrounding the statue of Lenin, getting the meal you were hoping for can be a problem. There are plenty of tiny storefronts offering sushi or pad thai or goat stew, but their ambiance can be a little off-key. Hunger hits exactly the right note: a variety of comfortable places to sit for groups of different sizes, a well-stocked bar and beer list, a very good wine list with knowledgeable advice available, and a terrific, interesting menu running from Spain to France to Italy to the Middle East. Dress up or dress down, Fremont style."

We went for the DineAroundSeattle
promotion, sampling different courses among our party. There were some different twists on the appetizers and entrees which were quite tasty. The wine flights were paired to the specific choices of each diner. All in all, an enjoyable experience."

For quality of food and wine,
Hunger 2.0 is a very good value. The server was very familiar with the menu, very helpful and attentive."

I really wanted to like this
restaurant, but the loud music was over the top. The food was just OK and the prices were on the high side. Our server was pleasant."
Dined on 11/9/2013
The food was very tasty, and the
servings seemed to be reasonable size. Sometimes restaurants charge a lot for small plates compared with a full entree."

Stopped by for Sunday brunch.
Staff was very friendly, and the food very good, as was the bloody mary. I'll keep this place in mind when looking for someplace to eat/drink in Fremont."
Dined on 11/3/2013
My husband and I enjoyed Hunger
2.0 before a concert during the Dine Around and were overall quite satisfied with our experience. Even though we had come for dinner we decided to sit at the bar, since it was during happy hour and food and drink specials were available in addition to their full menu. Their Scotch egg appetizer was the essence of "perfect upscale bar food" and the butternut squash bisque was a highlight of our meal. The main drawback of our experience was that service was pretty slow and there was a long wait between courses even though it was a fairly slow Monday night, but everything we tried was tasty and enjoyable and we have already planned to return for happy hour the next time we visit Fremont."

Chefs Brian and Jaime are an
excellent team. In the back of the house, Jaime creates unique Iberian flavors and surprising texture combinations. Out front, Brian knows how to treat his guests. The homemade Hot Coppa was delicious, especially paired with the fennel, orange and Manchego. The Portuguese Stew was hearty and flavorful. Wished it had more broth and root veg waiting for me at the bottom of the shellfish. The wine was great and the all night happy hour made the dinner an amazing value. Can't wait to go back!"

We had lunch here during
Restaurant week and were well rewarded for our time. Our waiter was always aware without being obtrusive and provided the kind of excellent and attentive service that I would associate with a much more expensive establishment. The food was wonderful as well; the salads that we selected featured unusual ingredients and pairings that woke up your mouth in a really good way (think pink peppercorns, fennel root, fried garbanzo beans and Moroccan spices. Best fries ever. Wonderful wild mushroom risotto . Amazing desserts. Every course was a winner and because we were there on a Thursday, we had the place practically to ourselves, though it must be really loud at night."

Great lunch started with beet
salad/goat cheese, diablo shrimp and chocolate ganache! We will come back."

My Dad and I went here for
restaurant week and we were overwhelmingly impressed, not just by the food (which was delicious and we fully plan on returning) but most especially by the service. My Dad arrived before myself and was promptly seated by a very engaging "host." He made menu recommendations to my Dad & directed another couple who came in without reservations to his favorite seafood place just up the street. I write "host" because we later discovered from our server that the "host" was actually the chef/owner Brian Brooks. He was busy the whole night helping out and having friendly conversations with his patrons. This is how it's done. In a city full of personalities it was refreshing to see such dedicated & humble service. Wow!"

Excellent Steak Frites and Risotto
entrees. The Diablo Shrimp appetizer was also very good."

girls night. Great food, service was amazing."

I had no idea hunger even existed
until I saw it on the SRW list. Both of our dinners were great but the highlight was definitely the banana cheesecake. From someone who has worked in fine dining for years I thought the service was what really made this place stand out. Our server was very attentive but didn't overdo it and at least 3 different people thanked us on the way out. The ambiance was also great! Thank you Hunger!"

First time at Hunger and was
impressed with the food! The yelp reviews are mediocre but everything that our group of four picked was so delicious! Highlights were the pork belly, beet salad and steak frites! So glad we tried it!"
Dined on 10/14/2013
We had brunch here on a Sunday and
it was excellent! The menu is fairly limited, but this lets the chefs in the open kitchen execute to perfection. I had the special French Toast, which was stuffed with a mixture of chorizo, figs, and cream cheese and served with a raspberry sauce. My husband had the Carnivore Hash, which was very very good. Highly recommend! Ambience is a bit unimpressive, but who cares when the food is so good! Oh....almost forgot to mention the Piri Piri Bloody Mary: wow! really good!"

Hunger has a wide open dining area
with concrete surfaces; I'm sure the atmosphere is pretty energetic when it's full of chatting diners. Tables are well-spaced; the decor is trendy, with clean, uncluttered lines. There's a nice view of the street through huge windows surrounding the dining area, and caged lamps throw a warm glow through the room. The menu is eclectic. We had chorizo-stuffed dates, which were unusual and excellent, a truly out-of-this-world butternut squash soup, and a medium-rare New York cut steak that was a little too highly-seasoned, but perfectly cooked. Service was top-notch: friendly, unobtrusive, and always there when you wanted it. We'll certainly go back; highly-recommended."

We have always enjoyed the food at
Hunger, the service has been hit or miss. Our first visit was great the food was good and the service was good. The second and third time the food was still good but the service was a bit off. Missed app. confusion on the order were the main points. They compensated us but it still left an impression. The other night we had the same experience, great food but it took 10 minutes to get us drinks, we had 3 people waiting on us but not our actual server. It was not consistent and the excuses about large parties and backed up kitchen don't make up for it. I will go back and recommend it due to the food. The stuffed dates are amazing and the entrees are always top notch. The service needs to be better."

The restaurant was fairly empty
for a Saturday night, and the server made up for it by being particularly attentive and informative. The menu was interesting, and some dishes (the corn bisque and pork tenderloin) were outstanding while others seem to be overly ambitious (stuffed dates with blue cheese ice cream and burger) and not quite well executed. The ice cream with the dates promptly melted and made it difficult to get any blue cheese flavor with the date, and the burger could use a bun with more substance - the bread falls apart, making it difficult to eat. Also, harissa french fries + harissa ketchup = too much harissa. Overall, I'd go back to see how the menu changes with the seasons, and hope the chef continues to develop."

Gilt City offered a discount for
Hunger, so my husband and I decided to go to there for our wedding anniversary. Despite mentioning the anniversary with our reservation, the wait staff did not acknowledge it. The food was so-so. We ordered a shrimp appetizer that was the highlight of the meal. I ordered a bland clam linguine with *very* al dente noodles. My husband ordered a ribeye steak that came in three pieces. I ordered one non-alcoholic drink, my husband drank water, and altogether our meal was $80! I am glad we had the $30 coupon and got out of there for $50. Also, we ate at 6pm and the restaurant was empty. Maybe the place livens up later in the evening? They did have a pretty good cocktail selection."

Good food and loved sitting
outside. Inside seemed a tad quiet but outside was filled."

Four of us made last-minute
reservations through OpenTable and were greeted cheerfully when we arrived. The staff was pleasant and the wine and salads were good. Unfortunately the entrees were a fail. Two of our four entrees were fine, but two of us ordered the Ahi Puttanesca and the kitchen must have boiled the pasta and then let it sit to drain for 10 minutes while they overcooked the Ahi because the pasta came out all stuck together in a brick and the tuna was dry and fishy. We were ravenous so we picked through it and ate the parts we could. Our server was gracious about it and took them both off our bill. They did offer to make us new dishes but by that time we weren't interested in getting anything more."
