Long regarded in San Diego and abroad as one of the city's finest waterfront restaurants, Humphreys Restaurant features Modern Global Cuisine at its finest and overlooks the marina on beautiful San Diego Bay. After dinner, dance the night away in our adjacent Backstage Music Club to the finest live entertainment San Diego has to offer. Reservations made online are for the dining room only.   • "We had a great time at Easter Brunch. They did a great job of accommodating our party of 6, which included 3 kids. Friendly and attentive service, those mimosas never stopped flowing! The food selection was large and varied, I especially enjoyed all the seafood. Only thing that could have been improved was that they kept running out of food due to the crowds and the staff struggled to keep up at times. I guess that's to be expected on a holiday like this. Otherwise very good experience overall. We'd like to return."

The good was delicious, they didn't have a dessert menu instead she brought a dessert tray!! How spectacular with live music carrying over from the bar, the decor and ambience was lovely and inviting. I would highly suggest visiting and enjoying a meal here."

  • "disappointed. it wasn't as good as it used to be. i understand they changed formats a couple years ago. no more jazz brunch. now r&b. brings in a totally different crowd. no more dress code - anything goes. food choices not a match to prior format. very little meat selection. wouldn't go back. drove over 1 hour to get there. not worth it. our table was in the back of the room near the entrance in spite of the fact that we noted we were celebrating a birthday. But Open Table was great to work with as usual. Thank you."

  • "Our family's been to Humphrey's several times over the past 20 years & it's ALWAYS excellent! (except after eating & realizing we've eaten WAY too much!) I HIGHLY recommend Humphrey's for Sunday brunch &, if you can get in the door, holiday brunches (we've taken to going there for Thanksgiving for the mere fact that there's no way to make that much variety w/o a 'ginormous' kitchen & staff to do it!)"

  • "My wife and I go here for dinner several times a year and, even though the drive is almost an hour, it is well worth it. This night we decided to get out of our comfort zone and order some fares we had not tried before. Without exception, evey dish was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. The view of the harbor at sunset is breathtaking. I have taken friends there in the past and I often get the question 'When are we going back?". I would not hesitate to recommend Humphrey's Bayside for a truely pleasureable and enjoyable - not to mention tasty - dining experience."

  • "Upon entering the restaurant it smelled fishy but the view was beautiful. My husband had the wedge salad while I had the watermelon goat cheese salad which was the best part of the meal. It would have been nice to have a slice of bread with my salad but they charge for a basket (ridiculous). I was hoping for a nice filet but had the New York which was served with French fries. The steak was tough and over cooked. My husband had the salmon and he liked it but he was not impressed. Our server was nice but lacked attention to detail. I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I ever go back."

  • "We booked for the view - although we learned that it faces an inlet and not the bay. The food was good (watermelon and tomato salad w goat cheese) and (crab stuffed mushrooms) and the service was attentive. The decor is very dated - think late 60s-early 70s. A throwback for sure."

  • "Went to Humphreys for a birthday lunch... Complete disappointment. We were one of the first customers for lunch... Within 5 minutes we were introduced to three waitress of which never did anything but introduce themselves. Didn't receive water or took our lunch orders until after 15 mins. It took an additional 10 mins to get bread. Never got the soup I ordered and the food was at most, average."

  • "Had a reservation for 11:30 for seven on a recent Saturday. Only a couple of tables were occupied. Service was EXTREMELY slow. Had to repeatedly ask for iced tea refills. Not sure what the server was doing while not attending to us, but she was not around. Food was marginal. Humprey's used to have great food and great service. Not anymore. The only positive to our dining experience was the view. Spend your money somewhere else. Totally disappointing."

  • "Was convinced to try this Sunday brunch based on a friend's recommendation. We usually go to Tom Ham's Lighthouse and we are all very sorry we didn't do so again on Sunday. Maybe the head chef was on vacation, but without too much details, the food lacked flavor, creativity and execution. Even the oysters were blah. Never going back unless I'm going to a concert, because Humphreys will forever be my favorite concert venue anywhere! Amazing, amazing, most intimate, comfortable and beautiful location to get your groove on. Just don't stay for brunch."

  • "We are new to the area and use the SD Restaurant Week to expand our experience with restaurants. So we tried Humphreys for the first time for the special lunch. It was fantastic. Great food (at an unbelievably good price), wonderful service (when was the last time your server asked if you'd like your wine decanted?), and great ambiance. We were expecting just another marina so-so restaurant, but we were totally mistaken. Everything was first class, and we will be going back often."

Next had the fish and the scallop bacon sandwich ... both delicious. Didn't think the creme brulee required the lavender infusion but the chocolate brownie with icecream put us over the top!"

  • "After a series of lively (hard to hear) dining experiences, this was serene - quiet with the bay and boats right outside the window. Add to that one of the best shrimp salads I have ever eaten and attentive. but unobtrusive service, and I was a happy diner. Flavorful shrimp and quality greens were perfectly complemented by the dressing. Unfortunately, this was part of the restaurant week menu, and I did not see it on the regular menu. The scallop and bacon sandwich was good, but the salad was exceptional. I would definitely return to try their regular menu, which looked like an interesting range of choices."

My friend and I were fortunate enough to try three restaurants during Restaurant Week for lunch, including The Prado, and we all agreed that the lunch at Humphreys was the best. Two of us had the sole, and the other had lacquered quail. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed a wonderful salad and finished with a creme brulee. What I appreciated most is that the food was not over-salted. I plan to bring my houseguests here when they arrive in a few weeks."

  • "When we arrived, it was late and the sun had already went down. We were greeted immediately. We noticed the bar area was very busy but we were there for a nice dinner. We were immediately seated and the staff were wonderful. They made the food selection easy, the courses came out perfectly timed, and the food was amazing."

  • "Usually come here for brunch. This was the first time we came for restaurant week. We tried the lunchtime menu and the dishes were great. It was a bit busy with several large parties, which was surprising for a Monday but it was a holiday. Service was fine, if a bit slow, probably due to the large parties. The servings were a little on the small side, but at $15 per person, was an excellent value! I started off with the grilled shrimp salad which had a great smokey blended flavor. For the main course I had the chili glazed quail which had an exquisite hint of sweet and sour, and sat on top of a rose potato hash. For desert I tried the creme brulee that was very creamy with a lot of vanilla bean."

  • "After 10 years of being away from rhe area my wife and I were excited to visit one of our favorite locations during restaurant week. The scenery did not disappoint but the food did. The appetizers were uninspired, the fish and pork main dish was overcooked, and the desserts were average. We would return for drinks and the view but not the food."

  • "Brunch could have been much better if it included turkey bacon or sausage for the health conscious or kosher and the shrimp wasn't seasoned. Our server was very hesitant to take 1 picture for us. And even thought picture taking isn't part of our server's job description, she kept saying she would be "right back" twice after we asked. Only for me to go home and realize the picture was totally dark, so I have no memories."

  • "Went to see the holiday boat parade and went to Humphrey's afterwards. I'm not a big fan of the stark interior remodel, but with all the holiday decorations it was very pretty. The food was great as usual; most of us had the braised beef short ribs and they were outstanding. Had a nice bottle of Meritage wine. The wine list said it was 2008 but it was 2011. The service was great. I was surprised it wasn't more crowded. It's a great spot to park and walk across to the parade and then come back to dine before heading home, missing the exit traffic. It doesn't have a view of the parade, but I'd rather be outside during the parade anyway. Also, we went into Back Stage Live after dinner and listened to music for awhile. A fabulous evening!"

  • "Our family shared a wonderful Thanksgiving brunch at Humphrey's this year. We celebrated with delightful service from Michelle who kept our glasses full and made the occassion extra special. The food was both beautiful and delicious. Humphrey's had the traditional Thanksgiving selections as well as their other offerings of Sunday brunch. The entire family was charmed and pleased with our celebrations. Highly recommended."
