A word from Hula Grill - Waikiki
It's a beach where you can still hear the quick rapping of distant Hawaiian drums. Where catamarans crisscross the bay and vacationers take surf lessons. And it is where you'll find the charming plantation style restaurant that is the Hula Grill Waikiki. Located at the water's edge and in the
spectacular Outrigger Waikiki Hotel on Waikiki Beach, we are hau'oli (Hawaiian for happy) to offer you a perfect vantage point to watch the morning light play on Diamond Head or take in a fiery sunset. Every day is filled with the relaxing sight and sounds of swaying palm trees and balmy breezes. When the fast pace of Waikiki raises your pulse, we invite you to enjoy some serenity here.
Whether you would like to start your day with pineapple pancakes for breakfast or begin your evening with a dinner of delicious Hawaii regional seafood and prime steaks, including fresh fish and locally grown produce. You'll find we lovingly prepare our dishes to reflect the flavors of the islands.

Hula Grill - Waikiki -
Best Restaurants in Honolulu
My family and I dined here twice
on our recent vacation, and if we were staying longer, we'd probably have been back a few more times. My only regret is that we visited the Hula Grill on our 5th night and not on our 1st. Having worked as a chef, I'm particular about the food and I was more than a little impressed. Having a daughter, I always have a chance to check out the desserts -- Caution: They're HUGE and hard to resist! But let's not forget how integral service is to the whole dining experience -- here is where The Hula Grill shined. The service the first night was the best, and the second time was well above-average. Hula Grill is not to be missed when in Waikiki."

The food, service and ambiance are
excellent. Fish and Steak were great. Pineapple was so good!"

Made a 12:00 reservation for
brunch. We arrived 15 minutes early and were told the table would be ready in a few minutes. With our pager in hand we sat in the lobby. We were seated at 12:10. The hostess apologized for the wait, but there were empty tables throughout the restaurant. It took 15 minutes to get drinks; I ordered coffee and asked twice for a spoon - ended up stirring the coffee with a fork. We ordered food 25 minutes after being seated and the food came in about 10 minutes. The food was great. The staff stopped by to ask if everything was good, but never returned to refill coffee or water that we asked for. The view is great. The food was great. The service was not. For the price, we'll go somewhere else."

We continue to enjoy Hula Grill.
In fact, it is part of why we love Waikiki. Step out of the chaos and relax in a calm, peaceful setting where you can view the ocean, palm trees and beach. The food is wonderful and reasonably priced. The work to make you happy!!"

We love Hula Grill for breakfast.
The ambiance is relaxing and the food is great!! It is our favorite way to start the day in Hawaii. My favorite is eggs benedict with the sauce on the side to control calories but enjoy the flavor."
Dined on 7/31/2014
Had a really good breakfast here.
The omelets were delicious. The waffles with coconut syrup was excellent."
Dined on 7/29/2014
For some reason - the food and
service just was not as good as when we visited 18 months ago. Likewise - not as good as the Maui location in years past. The mac nut preparation of opa at Hula had very little sauce, but still tasted very good. Their calamari - available from the bar menu - is the best calamari around. Our waiter was young and did not properly describe the chef's interpretation of beef cooking temperatures - leading to a REALLY well done steak. I felt like, in general, the wait staff was young and not experienced."

I make a point to eat here every
time I visit Honolulu. I have had breakfast and dinner and am always happy. There is something for everyone on the menus: local foods, favorites you might have at home, and always something new. The chefs do an excellent job. The servers bend over backwards to accommodate requests and to insure your expectations are exceeded. We recently took my 94 year old grandma for breakfast, and Lauren made her feel so special, taking extra steps to insure she is comfy and happy (not always easy). As we have been to the Hula Grill many times, we try to sit in Lauren's section as she takes good care of us, which is EXACTLY what you can expect from any employee."

Food was okay. This is an average
joe place and nothing special. I wouldn't go back."
Dined on 7/18/2014
We had the filet, very good with
mushroom sauce. It was accompanied by green beans and mashed potatoes. The ribeye with a brown sauce , was excellent , with asparagus and fries.Very hearty meal, while listening to a live band downstairs and enjoying an incredible view."

Overall, great experience! But I
was a little disappointed that the brunch menu online wasn't available during the hours advertised."

come here again."
Dined on 6/25/2014
We went for as service switched
from breakfast to lunch. $3 mimosas. Poke tacos, portobello fries, views of Waikiki beach, freshly made POG. You can't go wrong with this place. Service was a bit weird, but not horrible, solid choice for a good meal."
Dined on 6/22/2014
We ate off the Chef's Tasting
Menu. Appetizers, entrees, and dessert for only $25! Wow! Everything except omen of our entrees was spectacular. One entree, the shrimp chow fun, was just okay. The view was great and the service was exceptional. I would definitely go here again."

We knew from reading the reviews
that this was going to be a great place, so we stopped by for Happy Hour to give it a try and we were hooked! The PuPus were of such a great quality (try the Pork Belly Boa), that we stayed for early dinner. My wife had the Chef's Tasting meal, with a smaller portion of an appetizer, fresh fish entree and desert at a very reasonable price and I had the seafood chowder that was absolutely amazing! The service was impeccable in both the bar and restaurant, very warm and professional. We will definitely be back!read less"

Lovely view from the balcony, very
accommodating of my 2.5 year old, great childrens menu options, the 3 course menu available for early diners was beautiful and it was nice to know that the profits were going to benefit a local school. I would definitely go there again and recommend to my friends."
Dined on 6/12/2014
Met with some friends for brunch
for their last day on Oahu and we loved it! Every plate was tasty; view was perfect; waitstaff was responsive and attentive but not overly so. Hostesses were so helpful- even held a 4top table for me right on the balcony while we waited for my late (lost, of course!) friends. We will definitely be back!"
Dined on 6/8/2014
Our dinner at Hula Grill was
incredible. It started with getting a table on the rail, overlooking the beach, which provided a great view. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, giving us all of the information we needed. The food was great as well, the mahi-mahi especially. Even the bread was good, try it with the chili water. Thanks Hula Grill for a great meal."
Dined on 5/15/2014
Always enjoy dinner at Hula Grill
when vacationing in Hawaii. The foccia bread with oil an chili pepper is the best ever!"

We have visit the Hula Grill in
Waikiki several times and have always experienced excellent food and personable service. We strongly recommend the Hula Grill and the use of OpenTable to make reservations. "

We haven't had a bad expirence
here. The staff is professional and courteous. Food prep and display are excellent and tastes great."
Dined on 4/28/2014
We chose the Hula Grill for brunch
on our last day in Hawaii and it was perfect. I was pleased that my request to have a table by the water was accommodated because the view was spectacular as I enjoyed a wonderful half stack of light and fluffy pancakes with macadamia nuts. I wish we'd gone to the Hula Grill more often and hadn't waited until our last day to enjoy this setting. Our waiter was top notch and very entertaining. This will be the first place, not the last place, that we eat next time we're in Honolulu. "

Been here twice once for brunch
and once for dinner. Cannot rave about this place enough. Breakfast is quick tasty and the view is stunning. Dinner is outstanding, fabulous menu and the appetisers are out if this world. The seafood chowder is the best I've ever eaten. Love this place! "

Sean the bartender was very
helpful. Great mai Tais. Early bird menu was great for smaller appetites. Good selection and value. Waitstaff are "on their game". "

The name doesn't sound like much,
but the food surely is great. Seafood at its best."
Dined on 4/14/2014
First time I had been there for
brunch which was really good. Always have had great food there but usually had been for dinner. View is great as always looking out at Waikiki sun, sand, Palm trees and the beautiful ocean. Can't find much to complain about!"
Dined on 4/13/2014
We had an early dinner and chose
from the special Chef's menu that is available for early diners. If they don't give that menu to you ask for it. You can choose one appetizer, one entree and one dessert all for under $30! The green salad I chose had amazing citrus dressing. The fish of the day was mahi mahi. It was served with delicious rice pilaf and I added a side of grilled asparagus. Yummy! Absolutely amazing fish! My dessert was raspberry sorbet served in a little dish shaped cookie. Wow! Mai tai was fun too. Be sure and make reservations way before the day you want to eat here as it is VERY popular!"

Hula Grill is consistently great.
We have gone there an embarrassing amount of times. My wife & I love the fish tacos. Their dinner is fit for a King & Queen as well. They have a waitstaff that stays there. (No turnover) Meaning A) it pays well & B) they run a tight ship. The Whaler's Village Hula Grill is our favorite, but we have been to others. I highly recommend this place as a fun, great food, great fresh-drinks kinda place. They use only fresh juices for their Mai-Tai mix so it comes out great & you come out walking sideways. CHEERS!"
Dined on 4/7/2014
Thoroughly enjoyed Hula Grill. I
had the scallops which were great and my partner had the T-bone steak which he loved - huge size. We sat on the balcony on a Sunday night and watched ( and listened) to the band playing at Dukes below. Lots of atmosphere at Dukes but we preferred the quieter Hula Grill where we could still have the great view and listen to the music. Service was very fast. Would recommend."

We managed to get an early
reservation for Hula Grill Waikiki, where we stayed on our last night before our flight home. We weren't thrilled with the early reservation time, but it worked out perfectly, since we got a beautiful table outside with a lovely view. Our server (I believe her name was Danielle) was outstanding. I have a gluten allergy and she dealt with my allergy very well. I love the fact that this restaurant has a separate menu for those with allergies (including gluten). All four of my family ordered different fish entrees, and we all loved it. It was extremely fresh and beautifully presented and seasoned. We loved their chili sauce so much that we ended up buying three bottles to bring home!"

Food was excellent .... Waiter was
strange. Didn't make us feel comfortable at all."

Great gluten free menu... Thank
you!! We enjoyed our evening."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Had the days special, fish duo one
Panko crusted ahi and another fish grilled with fruit salsa; both were outstanding and with the view (recommend a lanai table) it was outstanding"

Front receptionist Lisa needs to
learn about how to treat a customer. Very poor attitude and unfriendly. Talked to manager Christy Cook and she offered to pay for our meal and drinks which I declined. Server was very good but the food just average. Christy did her best to keep me happy but not sure if we will be back... We have been eating out nightly for 6 weeks and have found a lots of places with great reception and awesome food and service... If I owned this restaurant I would recommend management and front reception go on a field trip to see how the other restaurants treat customers and see how they do it and want the business. They will be surprised:)"
Dined on 2/27/2014
We have been to Hula Grill
numerous times. Our favorite is the Chef`s Tasting Menu for a couple of reasons; we dine a little earlier and get to enjoy the fabulous sunset and the value for exceptional quality is really hard to beat. We both had the steak last time and it was done perfectly. The bread pudding dessert changes nightly and finishes off the meal perfectly. This place is a real gem situated on the best beach in the world!"
Dined on 2/24/2014
I took my girlfriend to Hula Grill
for her 30th birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and tasty. My girlfriend cannot eat seafood but Hula Grill has a few non-seafood choices which was great and not so common around Waikiki. Service was great. I had mentioned on the booking that we were coming for a birthday celebration. Without telling this to any of the staff my girlfriend got a complimentary birthday cake! Last but not least we were sitting on the balcony with a direct view over the ocean :) Reservations are highly recommended if you want to sit on the balcony without too much wait. Special note to the crème caramel: best presentation I have seen for a crème caramel ;)"

Great atmosphere, food and
service! What more could you ask for? This place is a must to visit when in the Waikiki area. We had breakfast and dinner there and they were both great! Try the macadamia crusted fish of the day and top it off with their famous "Hula Pie" which is enough for 2 and you will be in heaven!!"
Dined on 2/19/2014
We enjoyed our meal and also the
table overlooking the band below at Duke's! We Always book Sunday reservations when here in Waikiki! Worth it for sure!"
Dined on 2/9/2014
We loved being in Waikiki and
seeing the ocean as we ate, but the food was disappointing. We ordered lobster potstickers for an appetizer, and for $10 it only came with three. Then I ordered a Coconut Seafood Soup for my entree. It had one mini lobster tail, one shrimp, and a bunch of white fish. There were zero vegetables, a bit of rice, and some broth. No bueno. My wife's fish was just ok."
