  • "The name doesn't sound like much, but the food surely is great. Seafood at its best."

  • "Sean the bartender was very helpful. Great mai Tais. Early bird menu was great for smaller appetites. Good selection and value. Waitstaff are "on their game". "

  • "Hula Grill is consistently great. We have gone there an embarrassing amount of times. My wife & I love the fish tacos. Their dinner is fit for a King & Queen as well. They have a waitstaff that stays there. (No turnover) Meaning A) it pays well & B) they run a tight ship. The Whaler's Village Hula Grill is our favorite, but we have been to others. I highly recommend this place as a fun, great food, great fresh-drinks kinda place. They use only fresh juices for their Mai-Tai mix so it comes out great & you come out walking sideways. CHEERS!"

  • "First time I had been there for brunch which was really good. Always have had great food there but usually had been for dinner. View is great as always looking out at Waikiki sun, sand, Palm trees and the beautiful ocean. Can't find much to complain about!"

  • "We had an early dinner and chose from the special Chef's menu that is available for early diners. If they don't give that menu to you ask for it. You can choose one appetizer, one entree and one dessert all for under $30! The green salad I chose had amazing citrus dressing. The fish of the day was mahi mahi. It was served with delicious rice pilaf and I added a side of grilled asparagus. Yummy! Absolutely amazing fish! My dessert was raspberry sorbet served in a little dish shaped cookie. Wow! Mai tai was fun too. Be sure and make reservations way before the day you want to eat here as it is VERY popular!"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed Hula Grill. I had the scallops which were great and my partner had the T-bone steak which he loved - huge size. We sat on the balcony on a Sunday night and watched ( and listened) to the band playing at Dukes below. Lots of atmosphere at Dukes but we preferred the quieter Hula Grill where we could still have the great view and listen to the music. Service was very fast. Would recommend."

  • "We managed to get an early reservation for Hula Grill Waikiki, where we stayed on our last night before our flight home. We weren't thrilled with the early reservation time, but it worked out perfectly, since we got a beautiful table outside with a lovely view. Our server (I believe her name was Danielle) was outstanding. I have a gluten allergy and she dealt with my allergy very well. I love the fact that this restaurant has a separate menu for those with allergies (including gluten). All four of my family ordered different fish entrees, and we all loved it. It was extremely fresh and beautifully presented and seasoned. We loved their chili sauce so much that we ended up buying three bottles to bring home!"

  • "Great atmosphere, food and service! What more could you ask for? This place is a must to visit when in the Waikiki area. We had breakfast and dinner there and they were both great! Try the macadamia crusted fish of the day and top it off with their famous "Hula Pie" which is enough for 2 and you will be in heaven!!"

  • "Had the days special, fish duo one Panko crusted ahi and another fish grilled with fruit salsa; both were outstanding and with the view (recommend a lanai table) it was outstanding"

  • "I took my girlfriend to Hula Grill for her 30th birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and tasty. My girlfriend cannot eat seafood but Hula Grill has a few non-seafood choices which was great and not so common around Waikiki. Service was great. I had mentioned on the booking that we were coming for a birthday celebration. Without telling this to any of the staff my girlfriend got a complimentary birthday cake! Last but not least we were sitting on the balcony with a direct view over the ocean :) Reservations are highly recommended if you want to sit on the balcony without too much wait. Special note to the crème caramel: best presentation I have seen for a crème caramel ;)"

  • "Front receptionist Lisa needs to learn about how to treat a customer. Very poor attitude and unfriendly. Talked to manager Christy Cook and she offered to pay for our meal and drinks which I declined. Server was very good but the food just average. Christy did her best to keep me happy but not sure if we will be back... We have been eating out nightly for 6 weeks and have found a lots of places with great reception and awesome food and service... If I owned this restaurant I would recommend management and front reception go on a field trip to see how the other restaurants treat customers and see how they do it and want the business. They will be surprised:)"

  • "We have been to Hula Grill numerous times. Our favorite is the Chef`s Tasting Menu for a couple of reasons; we dine a little earlier and get to enjoy the fabulous sunset and the value for exceptional quality is really hard to beat. We both had the steak last time and it was done perfectly. The bread pudding dessert changes nightly and finishes off the meal perfectly. This place is a real gem situated on the best beach in the world!"

  • "Brought my daughter here while she was visiting me in Honolulu. The food was great, service great, and the views were beautiful. Food was fresh. We loved the Hula pie for dessert, ice cream, fudge, macadamia nuts, whipped cream...yum!"

  • "We enjoyed our meal and also the table overlooking the band below at Duke's! We Always book Sunday reservations when here in Waikiki! Worth it for sure!"

  • "We chose the restaurant based on ratings for Honolulu Waikiki by Tripadvisor. We ordered a couple of salads and 2 glasses of wine. The spinach salad had 1/2 inch pieces of unfried bacon versus crumbled bacon, the tomato salad had only 1 1/2 slices of soggy tomatoes on it. The restaurant Manager apologized, she did not charge us for anything, we went to eat at Roy's Waikiki afterwards, which was ok."

  • "We loved being in Waikiki and seeing the ocean as we ate, but the food was disappointing. We ordered lobster potstickers for an appetizer, and for $10 it only came with three. Then I ordered a Coconut Seafood Soup for my entree. It had one mini lobster tail, one shrimp, and a bunch of white fish. There were zero vegetables, a bit of rice, and some broth. No bueno. My wife's fish was just ok."

  • "Amazing views of Waikiki Beach. Lunch seems to be lees crowded than dinner as everyone goes to Duke's downstairs. The views of the beach are much better upstairs and you can normally take your time to enjoy your lunch and drinks while taking in all of Waikiki Beach!"

  • "We decided that The Hula Grill would be our first meal on arrival in Honolulu and boy did we make a great choice! Duke's, which is situated on the floor below The Hula Grill tends to get most of the praise out of these two restaurants but I think on location this gets top marks. Thanks to OpenTable we secured one of the best tables in the house, on the rail overlooking Waikiki Beach. We settled down to view the menu with our first Mai-Tai's of the trip(excellent). With such a view of the ocean you just have to have some fish dishes and all were well presented and delicious. Great introduction and service from our waiter. A terrific starting point for our Hawaiian holiday and would thoroughly recommend a visit."

  • "Went to Hula Grill for dinner. When making our Open Table reservation, I mentioned that it was a special occasion. Upon arrival, we were seated at an ocean front, quiet table. Stunning view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. Service was very good...attentive but not overly intrusive. Food was pretty good. I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi. The portion wasn't very big, but it tasted pretty good. I would definitely dine there again."

  • "This is the second time we have been here and this time we tried the chefs tasting menu for $25. Was excellent value and delicious choices. I had the Caesar salad as starter and my husband had the pot stickers. For main my husband has macadamia encrusted mahi mahi and I had the roast chicken, and for dessert: gelato and bread pudding. The bread pudding was outstanding! Once again, we will be back !"

  • "We requested an ocean view table which was honoured and we had a fabulous view over the beach and ocean and of the sunset. The food was very good and the waiter was very attentive, with reasonable prices. We overlooked the Dukes Bar, which had a band and party going on, so it was a great lively atmosphere. We will be back!"

  • "Just about everything about our dining experience at Hula Grill was perfect. The one flaw that we discovered after the fact was we were charged $6.95 for the sorbet dessert which was supposed to have been included with the pre-fixe dinner. By the time we discovered this discrepancy, it was too late to discuss it with the waiter. Aside from this, the service, food, and atmosphere was just what we had hoped for."

  • "I've discovered that I'm officially gluten intolerant, so I found Hula Grill when searching for gluten free menus. They had delicious food, and we plan on trying either lunch or dinner here as well. Our server, while pleasant, disappeared after our meals were delivered, and I had to chase down another server for more water a couple of times. Other than that, we will definitely make our way back before we leave."

  • "I wish such a restaurant were in Japan. When I made a reservation at OpenTable, I could reserve in 17:00 and after 2100. I don't know a reservation for 1700-2100 can be accepted."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at the Hula Grill in Waikiki on 11/8. We enjoyed it very much. We had a wonderful table and could see the sunset which was beautiful that evening. The food was very good, we took advantage of the three course early dinner. The service seemed to be slow at times, but with such a beautiful view we did not care much. The music from the beach bar downstairs can be loud at times, depending on where your table is. Overall another great dinner at the Hula Grill"

  • "The restaurant is one floor above Duke's, but Hula Grill Waikiki is quiet enough to comfortably talk about business. The live music isn't blasting and we didn't have to yell to be heard."

  • "Went early. Enjoyed happy hour in bar - excellent Mai tai drinks. Then enjoyed the chefs tasting menu that is offered from 4:45 to 6:00. All three courses were outstanding! Our server, Kevin, was wonderful which only added to the beautiful evening. We highly recommend this restaurant. Also - we are glad we grabbed a 4:45 dinner reservation: No waiting, an lovely table along the rail overlooking Waikiki, and the well-prepared 3 course tasting menu that is a total steal at $25. It was easily the best meal we had all week! Hint: enjoy happy hour in the bar first because those specials do not apply in the dining room."

  • "Our experience at hula grill was absolutely amazing!!! I would say out of the 7 nights dining in waikiki it was by far our favorite dining experience! We had a table right by the balcony over looking waikiki beach. Out server was amazing he was very helpful with food and wine selections! The ambiance was so peaceful and romantic!"

  • "Please note that Duke's (below Hula Grill) has very LOUD music on their outside patio ONLY on SUNDAY NIGHTS. Diners at Hula Grill can not hold a conversation at their table."
    Dined on 9/22/2013
  • "Nothing great about anything besides the view if you get a balcony seat. Food did not leave me craving for more. The service was practically nonexistent. Our server rarely came around and we waited about 15 minutes before she finally decided to come by to bring some water and we asked if she was our server. The rest of the wait staff would try to not make eye contact with you since you're not in their section."

  • "Stumbled across this restaurant searching through open table. It had good reviews and I have to echo them. We ate here around 9pm both nights, got tables right next to the edge overlooking the ocean. They have torches flickering. About the most romantic place we've ever had dinner at. Service was fantastic both times, food selection is fairly limited but very good. We were only in Waikiki for a week but had to eat here twice, the first time was so perfect."
