Hula Grill - KaanapaliGreat service!Brenda waited on us and she could not have been nicer.
Warm focaccia bread is served in an old metal lunch box with olive oil and a spicy sweet sour sauce. OMG! We brought home two bottles of the sauce, it was that good.
My husband had delicious fish tacos; I had a burger that was ok, but certainly not worthy of the "Best on Maui" designation. It was flavorful, though overcooked; the bun was really good.

My wife had a Local fish catch-ot-the-day she enjoyed. Be sure to ask for server Jennifer -- she's been there eight years and was very friendly and attentive. Hard to find a good restaurant here in Maui that is not an overpriced "tourist trap", so Hula Grill is the exception as we go to Maui for two weeks every years, we do know where to go and where not to go. The drinks were great, the poisson cru was spot on, the coconut milk seafood dish was wonderful, and the fresh fish special (walu and opa!) was excellent. Service was great, and the view of Ka'anapali beach was the best part of all. I wish we had dined during the sunset. Nothing beats dining outside on a warm night in Hawaii. We originally thought the food would be average since it's located right outside Whaler's Village, but took a chance based on Open Table's reviews. We saw the Chef's Sampler menu on the Hula Grill website so decided it was an economical dining choice, $25.95/person, with ocean front dining in Lahaina (http://www.hulagrillkaanapali.com/menus/dining-room). Before we ordered our waiter said the items on the Chef's Sampler Menu were half portions sizes. We felt like it was one of those bait and switch deals because the website said nothing about half portions. We decided to try it anyway since we did have a nice lunch at our condo earlier. We were glad we ordered from the Chef's Sampler menu because the food was delicious. The portions were pretty large so we weren't as disappointed and we did get very full. But turned out to be a nice quiet and cool table. The service was impeccable. Christina was our server, and she was extremely attentive. She made my girlfriend feel like royalty. The manager even came over and introduced herself. Have been frequenting The HULA GRILL every trip to Maui. It's beachfront location is prime.Just what you want in Hawaii. Dining always great and service attentive. Good menu selection and good portion sizes. We dined a little earlier in order to enjoy the sunset.Check local dates for time of sunset! Come 5-6 pm to take advantage of the Chef's 3 course menu. Our party of 4 also ate in the afternoon in the casual BAREFOOT Bar with it's sand beach floor. Nice musical addition enhanced our meal. Fresh fish, well prepared is a sure thing! Located ocean front by The Whaler's Shopping complex. The location is right on the beach with fantastic sunsets, tables on the patio have the best views. The food is consistently good and the best items are the local fish with creative preparations and great flavors. Ice cream pie is very good, share with 2 or 3.
