I'm glad we did. We sat in a lovely booth in the back room which was a quieter than the front of the restaurant. The service was impeccable. Water glass was always filled, menu was explained, food tasted great and came fast. Steak was fantastic. The steak came with a soup or salad but no sides which had to be ordered separately. Sides were large though and could serve more than one person. We had the "Meaning of life" cake and we were warned it was huge and it was the biggest "piece"of cake I've ever seen. We took the uneaten portion home as a carryon on the plane and we're still enjoying it 2 days later. Wife and I were celebrating a graduation for my daughter and we were six (son and daughter with their significant others). Could not have been better. This is our fifth dinner at Frogs and always with the same results. We have done just as many at Gibson's next door, but they have not delivered quite as well despite having the same kitchen. Due to the long, 2.5 hours queue at the airport customs, we could not make it for our reserved time so I called them and within no time they rescheduled my reservation for the same night. Service is really outstanding, from showing the plate of seafood options to advising on choices, it is just flawless. After the starter of oysters, my wife and daughter had the chilled crab leg, huge portion of 1 pound, while I went for the Hugo's Lobster, both fantastic.... A beautiful bottle of Napa Valley Chardonnay made it complete.... We got lucky and were seated right away on a busy Saturday night. Place was packed, bar was busy. We got some drinks that were pricey but good. Food was outstanding, split a Gibsons steak and sea bass. All in all, the food and service was great, however the place was just too cramped. I noticed with our meal and another. They had to put the tray literally in the middle of the very narrow walkway so diners had to walk around it to get to the back part of the restaurant. There was live music, which is always a plus. The wait staff was outstanding. The food was fabulous. The only thing I would point out is that the dining area is quite crowded and a bit loud. Our server, Art, started out with a bottle of complimentary champagne for the table and ginger ale for those of us who were under age or with child. He then gave us some helpful money saving tips (go for the medallions with crab cake/ lobster/ crab leg rather than the full blown surf and turf) and when one of us couldn't decide between crab or the crab cake on the side of her medallions, he gave a complimentary crab leg appetizer. I had the Miso marinated sea bass and it was truly impecable! Hugo's is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I love the lobster bisque, shrimp Dejonghe, crawfish mac & cheese. I believe in Saturdays they have cherry pie that is out of this world. The muddy bottom pie is also amazing. On this visit, my friend ordered the crab and avocado appetizer and frog legs for dinner and she loved everything. The wine we ordered was also delicious. Whenever I request the elevator booth, I always get it. Frankly a little disappointed in the seafood. The Ceasar salad was absolutely mediocre with no hint of anchovy paste, little dressing and heavy on tasteless barely green lettuce. The accompanying lobster bisque was rich and tasty but served in a bowl and both diners said too much richness when a cup would have done better. My companion's grouper was sweet, fresh, and delicious with a mild red pepper sauce that allowed the grouper's delicate flavor to stand out. My lake perch was well prepared but lacked the usual nutty distinct perch flavor and was either sunfish or farm-raised perch. However, upon seating us, the host gave us 2 free appetizers for waiting that were delicious, and definitely changed the mood of our party.
