Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant was recommended by our Hoover Dam tour guide. The food did not disappoint. You will pay about double for a comparable meal on the Strip. Our only complaint is with the waiter. When our food arrived the wrong potato was on my wife's plate. We let him know and he said he would bring the correct one. We did not see him again until the end of the meal, at which point he said "oh, you are finished; sorry about that". Then, he had a difficult time separating the bill as we were with another couple and part of the meals needed to be placed on separate tabs. This never got done correctly so we gave up. Overall the dining experience was very good but the waiter's issues put a dent in the experience."

  • "Hugo's looks great...neat bar, low ceilings, nice wood, low lights...great salad...BUT don't think I would pay $62 for a stringy, sinewy, piece of filet...that I would only use MAYBE for a beef stew!!!!"

  • "I have eaten at HUGO'S CELLER numerous times and they never disappoint. It is always one of the best restaurants in Vegas but maybe the best in the USA. The food is always way above excellent and the service is fabulous. Hugo's never disappoints. The salads are made at your table where you pick your ingrediants. The entrees are always hot and cooked to your specifications. The side dishes are very good and there is a dessert to top off the meal. It is always a treat to go to HUGO'S CELLAR ---a good way to end a Las Vegas vacation. It is always one of the highlights of a Vegas trip."

  • "Hugo's Cellar is a gem of a restaurant in downtown Las Vegas. Once you are in the restaurant, you forget that the casino is right up the stairs. Roses for the ladies are just the beginning. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Love the rolling salad cart for custom salads! Entrees are well prepared and very tasty. Had to skip dessert because we ate too much at dinner, but they brought chocolate covered fruit to finish off the meal. Noise level can get a bit high, but that comes with the territory. This is a place that makes you feel special and gives you a break from the hectic Vegas experience. Traditional in the best sense of the word. Highly recommended!"

  • "Upon arrival, there was an issue with some kitchen cooking equipment which delayed our seating a few minutes. We were invited to relax at the bar with a free drink until our table was available; a classy move. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The food was tasty and prepared as requested. While the prices are certainly not inexpensive, you get much with your meal including made to order salad, potato, veggies and chocolate dipped strawberries. We were celebrating our anniversary and were given a piece of cake with a candle. We will be back."

  • "We were of a group of 8 (4 couples). We were at a table in a nook to ourselves and it was so quiet and easy to visit. The waiter was fantastic and had opinions on what was best to order when we asked him. He didn't recommend the stuffed shrimp, which was what I was planning to order. I went with the scampi instead and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. All 8 of us really enjoyed what we ordered. The made to order salad beside our table was a special treat and also delicious. All of the staff did a great job of making this evening very special. I would highly recommend Hugo's Cellar to anyone wanting a nice meal. I thought the value for the price was excellent!"

  • "We visit Las Vegas every year. We would not miss having dinner at Hugo's. From the rose they present the ladies in the group with when you enter to their amazing food everything is perfect. The waiters are just fantastic and the service is great!"

  • "Every opportunity I have while visiting Vegas I will make a reservation to Hugo's. I started to go there in the eighties. The food and the service are excellent. The prices are very reasonable considering entrees include salad, starch, cooked vegetable and chocolate dipped fruits(strawberries, figs and dates) The Hot rocks appetizer is must."

  • "Once upon a time this was a great restaurant. The food was marginal at best and the service awful. We are used to the fine steakhouses and we really expected Hugo's Cellar to be stellar."

  • "On a recent trip to Las Vegas, we decided to go downtown and have dinner at Hugo's Cellar. It is in the basement of the Four Queens casino. You are greeted right away and the ladies are given a long stem red rose. Service is really the star of this restaurant. Each salad, which is included in the dinner, is custom made right at the table. My husband had a steak and it was very good. I should have had a steak, but had Hugo's chicken, which was just ok. The meal came with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and bread. The dinner was made complete with chocolate dipped fruit. I only wish this restaurant was closer to the strip. It was such a treat to have wonderful service like we experienced."

  • "The service was good, but slow; they kept the water glasses filled, but were slow to bring the check. They had trouble dividing up the check.Loved having the salad prepared at the table. If it was the only thing you had to do that night it would have been ok. It is a better restaurant for a nice romantic meal. Go hungry because it was a lot of food"

  • "Las Vegas. Fremont Street Experience. The past. And a referent is Hugo's Cellar in Four Queens Casino. The atmosphere of those times. Even the maitre d' or the sommelier are full of stories and memories of those times. The service was excellent. The food is of very good quality and plentiful. It is recommended that the Hugo's renowned Slow Roast Prime Rib, to share. A nice night."

  • "This place was a dynamite find! Fremont St and the surrounding area def maintains its old-time feel that you can't get on The Strip and this place makes u feel well cared for! The setting just floats in quiet and comfort. We felt like we were the only couple in the place. The prices were ideal, and the portions were generous. I can't wait to go back soon!!"

  • "This restaurant is in Four Queens casino, what a gem. Upon entering the ladies were given a rose and the table had an empty vase that was ready to hold them until after dinner. The room takes you back to a time when everyone dressed up. The food was fabulous all inclusive. Salad fixed table side and each of us could choose toppings. King crab legs were like butter, sweet and tender. Lobster was taken out of shell and sliced into bite size pieces. All that had steak loved it. Desserts looked great, but compliments of the house were chocolate covered fruits, which was the perfect end to a great night. Service was top notch, great attention to detail. We will definately make this one of our stops when in Las Vegas"

  • "I toured the internet in search of a great steak that would fit in our budget. I wanted ambience , great service and a memorable Anniversary experience. I came across several comments about Hugo's from loyal fans in the comment section. They mentioned the very nice table side salad. Every thing was wonderful until I got my steak. I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet mignon. Half of my steak was fat. I do enjoy great marbling; however, this was unacceptable to me. I told the assistant to my waiter(Jamie) and showed him the large amount of fat off my steak and he quietly acknowledged and took away my plate. That was it. Not happy at all."

  • "Every time we go to Vegas we stop at Hugo's Cellar. The staff are outstanding and the food is amazing. I recommend their lobster medallions for lighter appetites and all their steak is great for heavier meals and take advantage of their Salad cart. A+A+A+A+"

  • "In basement of Four Queens Hotel on old strip but as good as any top restaurant in the fancy hotels on the new strip. Best salad of any restaurant, with cart and service at the table. Equally great for a couple who want a "romantic" dinner or for a group of guys, like my party, just having fun in Vegas. If you have an annual Vegas trip, this is a restaurant to return to every year."

  • "I took my wife to Hugo's on Sunday, March 30th. It was our first venture into downtown Vegas and we weren't sure what to expect. While downtown is not as upscale as the strip, Hugo's was as good (or better) than anything the strip has to offer. From the table side salad to the perfectly cooked steaks, we ate like royalty! The wait staff was both friendly and knowledgable which added an extra boost to the dining experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for a special night out with your significant other!"

  • "I've been coming to Hugo's since the early 80's and always was impressed with the food (especially the salad maker) and unfortunately had a less than stellar experience this past weekend. As always, the vibe in Hugo's was cool and I anticipated our evening for weeks in advance. Stuck between the choice of a veal chop and the ribeye (no porterhouse was offered) I followed the suggestion of our server Jean and selected the ribeye, cooked medium (as confirmed by our server). Well, the salad guy was a dissapointment as I recall being "grilled the twenty questions". My steak arrived warm but grossly under cooked....barely medium rare with the inside hardly lukewarm. I promptly sent it back and gave them a second chance. I sent it back."

  • "We celebrated our son's 22nd birthday at Hugo's. From the start, they were friendly, courteous, and provided great service. The food was expertly prepared and presented, and left nothing to be desired. Michael, our waiter, was helpful with suggestions and made the meal enjoyable. We highly recommend for special occasions or a romantic night out. Been going to Hugo's since the 1990's and they never disappoint."

  • "It's always a treat to visit Hugo's Cellar. Hadn't been back for a while and it's nice to see that some things never change. The food, the service and atmosphere are amazing. Friends had the filet "cooked to perfection", the Mrs had the lobster bisque "the best I've ever had" and I ordered the Beef Wellington "a fabulous preparation and perfectly cooked"."

  • "totally did not live up to the hype. waited forever for our wine, waited forever for the tableside salad prep which turned out to be worst than the lousiest salad bar - sad lettuce, and canned vegies. then waited again for our entrees -- people who were seated over 30 minutes after us got their food first. entrees were ok but after all the waiting, we just wanted out of there. we had heard about hugos 5 years ago and this was the time to vegas that getting there worked out for us. so disappointed."

  • "Yes - the Strip has all of the biggest name Chef's throughout each hotel. But if you are looking for that traditional restaurant experience, one that you can imagine the Rat Pack enjoying in the 70's, then Hugo's Cellar is the place! I have been dining there for years, and still look forward to including it in my trips. The menu offers choices for great steaks as well as fare for the non-meat eaters. The wine list is outstanding. And the service is the best in town. Highly Recommend!!!"

  • "WE HAVE BEEN COMING TO THE CELLAR FOR OVER 30 YEARS HAVE SEEN THE BEST AND THE WORST OF TIMES OF THE CELLAR BUT ON 03/26/2014 WE DID SEE THE BEST AGAIN . THE SERVICE WAS BACK TO GREAT THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT, IT WAS VERY NICE TO SEE IT START TO COME BACK TO THE TIME OF THE 5 STAR MEANT SOMETHING. IT IS NICE TO COME AND ENJOY THE CELLAR INSTEAD OF ALL THE LOUDNESS AND TO SEE PEOPLE TREAT THE CELLAR AND DRESS THE PART AS THE CELLAR DESERVED . WE ALL AT THE PARTY FOR MY WIFE WERE PEACEFUL AND FULL. THANK YOU FOR BRING THE 5 STAR BACK..."

  • "Seven of us in town for a convention. It was my treat and I wanted great food and drinks. I wanted to keep it reasonable so I checked out Yelp reviews and decided on Hugo's Cellar. GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE. I will tell everyone that I know to eat there when in Vegas. Go there, you won't be sorry!"

  • "My wife and I try to get to Vegas once a year. Every time we go we make a point to have dinner at Hugo's. Even if we are staying on the strip, we will make a trip downtown for dinner. Intimate surroundings in the middle of the chaos of Fremont Street is the key on why we love this restaurant. Fine food, excellent service, and a wine list for all. Be sure to save room for the bananas foster for the taste and show. Put on a suit and have an elegant dinner before returning to the delightful decadence of Vegas."

  • "My wife and I visited Hugo's last week and it will not be our last visit; In fact we found ourselves wanting to extend the stay in order to return. In our opinion this was one of the highlights of our trip and this restaurant beats many of the high profile establishments on the strip. Our food was excellent, service outstanding as well as friendly. The sommelier turned us on to a new wine that is now on our list of "must buys." The experience could not have been nicer!"

  • "The steaks are delicious and good sized portions. All the side dishes were delicious as well. The atmosphere is lovely for fine dining. The service was great and accommodating. The sommelier loves to interact and we brought our own wine in to share with him. It was enjoyable and we loved to hear he was pleased with our choices. The only drawback is with a party of 11, we had to sit at two tables. They do have large tables, but only a few, and they were already booked. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!"

  • "Every Las Vegas visit must include a night at Hugo's Cellar. World class service and food. Our wait staff had a combined 40 years of service at Hugo's. That is unheard of in today's world. Obviously Hugo's understand that if they take care of their team the team wiil take care of the customers. As good as the service is, the food is better! If you haven't been to Hugo's you have missed a Las Vegas treasure."
