HUE Restaurant reviews from OpenTable diners
  • For the young at heart
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 5/4/2013
My guest and I found the food and drink and service to be outstanding. Our waitress was very good about checking every now and then whether we needed anything but not overbearing. However, we are in our 60's, about to attend a concert and both felt this restaurant is more for the young at heart with its high energy level and high noise level. It was very busy that night which says very positive things about the atmosphere, etc., but I am guessing the average age was30-40. We would probably choose another restaurant the next time just because we felt a bit out of place.

If you're looking for a vibrant, high-energy brunch, then HUE Restaurant is the place. HUE is my brunch location of choice because the stellar service received from the very moment I enter the restaurant. With themed Sunday brunches every month and a wonderfully situated patio, HUE promises a good time whether you're into being seen or people watching on a very energetic Sunday in Thornton Park. Truly a neighborhood gem.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

We were the first party to arrive the afternoon we dined with you. Because of this, we thought our service would be incredible but we were wrong. I had to get up one time to actually go find our waitress. Every time she would walk away from our table, it would take her forever to return. The food was average. I have been a loyal customer of HUE for many years and I have to say that this visit was a disappointment! It was a special occasion we were celebrating and the main reason I picked HUE! Not sure if I'll make that same mistake again.

Would not take a date or important client to the restaurant. We had an issue, that was not resolved, and he Manager on duty was so arrogant and dismissive. We were very embarrassed. The customer is not number one in this place. A real shame, it used to be a very good place to dine.

We were only in Orlando for one night so I'm not sure about many of the features listed above. I just know we had a fabulous meal and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's not someplace I would go to on a weekly basis because it's not inexpensive, but it's certainly affordable and worth it for the occasional splurge!

Enjoyed our evening - felt a bit like we were accommodated more than welcomed. Not a huge deal, but that might explain why the restaurant two doors down was PACKED and HUE was only about 10% full. Food was excellent - really enjoyed that. It is indeed a great neighborhood meeting place as it is on the corner and there is a lot of foot traffic - If you have a car, parking is easy - behind HUE is a large reasonably priced parking garage with friendly staff.

  • Sunday Brunch
    EolaSwan
    Dined on 2/17/2013
Sunday Brunch was very good. We appreciated the diversity of the menu which offered food preparations beyond a traditional breakfast. A requested substitution for one of the items was accepted with graciousness, and there was no extra charge. Our table was close to the entry of the indoor seating section, thus the spill-over of noise from the bar was considerable. Next time we will ask to be seated outside (if weather permits - this time it didn't), or further back in the inside dining room to be away from the bar. Despite the ambience drawback, this is a neighborhood gem which has been rated as such for a long time.

Will definitely be returning to Hue; food was very good and service was impeccable. My party of three was seated in the back next to a party of about 20 men. It was noisy at times and slightly annoying but not bad enough to ruin the meal. The mussels were perfect and my salmon was very good but the slightest bit overdone. Our server, Jared, was very professional and was neither neglectful nor overbearing. Looking forward to a return visit.

We were in FL for one of our daughters college graduations. My niece said this was one of her favorite restaurants in downtown Orlando. We wanted to celebrate my niece's engagement too while we were in town. Paul, our waiter, certainly added to the festivities. He explained the menu and the Bloody Mary bar very nicely. We certainly felt well taken care of by Paul! The menu selections were interesting and later proved "delicious!" Everyone was quite satisfied with their choices. We were busy offering gifts to our newly engaged couple when Paul presented each of us with a glass of champagne to toast this special occasion! What a perfect ending to an absolutely wonderful celebration at the HUE! Thank you and a special thanks to Paul!!! Denise

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

The food was very good. Great wine list. Great Rosemary Pear martini. Portion sizes were just right. I was not a big fan of the darkness and red table light combination. Every time I looked at the person on the opposite side of the table from me, I saw a red glowing face looking back at me [very satanic]. The server could not find the medium between letting us enjoy our meal and being too pushy as she tried to clear my plate before I was finished eating [a big no,no in my book] and checked back too often.

Always nice to enter the restaurant and ne remembered! The hostess and manager have been there for years and are always so pleasant. The server that day was also attentive (and not overly so!) I tried something new (chicken pesto with zucchini tots). Chicken was delicious, and cooked perfectly. Veggie tots were good, but cooked just a tad too long; nonetheless, I ate almost all of them. I would always recommend Hue—fabulous place!

The fish was perfectly done and the cocktails were all wonderful blends. It was a slow night so that may have helped. I know that I selected 5 stars overall, and then 4 stars for individual categories. I love Hue, as do our friends. We go there for ...any occasion...great place. They accommodate special requests almost all the time. If yours is not, then they really couldn't! The manager and hostess have both been there for years (not that they look like it!) and they remember you. It is wonderful. Thanks for another great memory. I just wish they would bring back some good brunch foods (crab cakes),but at least their lobster bisque is still some of the best around.
