  • "Try to get here at least 2-3 times per year and always wonder why I don't come more often. Very professional wait staff and the food is always exceptional.. We will be back!!"

  • "We requested a quiet table for our anniversary. While a lovely spot by fireplace was arranged, there was a business meeting being conducted at the next table and a loud group of 6 friends on the other side. We cut short our dinner before dessert because we couldn't hear each other talk. It was a very unfortunate evening."

  • "The best selection of wild game anywhere outside Africa. The food is exceptionally prepared and is complemented by exotic sauce combinations, like, white chocolate tomatilla. The service is good though it can be slow. Priced right for what you get though the atmosphere is a little homey."

  • "I thought the service was good. Our waitress was very knowledgable. Although she paused a lot when talking and could not find the words to describe certain things you could tell that she was trying to describe a personal feelin or taste. This told me that she enjoyed the food there as well. Which to me means a lot. If the staff doesn't eat it why should I? I wish I could have mixed entrees a little to slightly change one or two of the items on some plates to give myself mor options that fit me. All in all it was enjoyable and the food was tasty."

  • "wonderful as always...service was professional and attentive without being obsequious. every plate was beatifully presented and the food was perfectly prepared."

  • "I can never figure out how some restaurants do not top the "top 10" list every time. Hudson on the Bend should be there every time. We did the 3 course tasting menu and it was incredible. Anytime I want to really make an impression on my wife or friends I suggest HOTB. It NEVER disappoints. Ben Kuenemann"

  • "We tried this place in a groupon. A little out of the way for us but worth the drive. Per the reviews we tried the crispy trout. My wife loved it, I thought it was okay. The service was a little slow, didn't see our waiter much between courses and it wasn't terribly busy for a Tuesday night. My wife discovered hair in her salad which was disappointing and never saw a waiter until he was bringing the next course. Also discovered a hair in the whipped butter (on the plate, not in the butter), another waiter noticed her find and quickly apologized and replaced. Dessert was good, wine was great. Good for a special occasion."

  • "The restaurant was very beautiful with outdoor string lights. The service was great and they would come by and refill your beverage and check on you frequently. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was also very delicious. Hudson's is a great place for a nice date night or even celebrating special occasions. Most of the parties there seem to be 2-4 people so I don't know if this would be a good spot for big groups."

  • "We've been going to Hudson's for MANY years, and it NEVER disappoints. The 3-course Tasting Menu was EXCELLENT (not that it hasn't been before!). Always love the hot & crunchy trout, but the duck was also exceptional. So glad Hudson's continues to keep its same excellent service/food/surroundings. I always recommend it."

  • "Great little local fine dining place 20 miles from Central Austin. Not über fancy and trendy like the new places downtown. The cottage style cabin has a cozy feel and it reminds me of how old school Austinites would do fine dining. Texas meets white table cloth. Not overly contrived dishes (you know the ones where the ingredients get so complex the dish gets mutled), just really good fine dining with a Texas twist."

  • "We went here for our fourth time with a Groupon. I had the crispy trout, which is always a winner. My husband had the smoked duck breast. This duck breast was one of the best things we've ever put in our mouths. Amazing! The pecan smoke, along with the cranberry chipotle sauce gave spectacular levels of flavor to the perfectly cooked duck. We had two spectacular meals!"

  • "Rarely do I go to a restaurant and find that everything is absolutely delicious, but Hudson's on the Bend was one of them! Every appetizer and entree we ordered was great. The prices are a bit high, but worth every cent."

  • "Hudson On the Bend never fails to excite and impress when we get a chance to head out there. Even with all of the new spectacular places to dine in Austin, Hudson on the Bend, ranks right at the top for me."

  • "Hudson's has achieved that rare feat of serving up consistently outstanding fare for years and years, delivered with impeccable service and in a setting that offers options from casual patio/bar tables to semi-private rooms for a group to intimate & romantic candle-lit seating for couples. The menu has enough variety to suit a group of discerning diners and even children, and their multi-course wine pairings are an amazing way to experience the chef's recommendations for further enhancement to his signature dishes. Make the trip to Hudson's and be rewarded!"

  • "We frequent Hudson's a couple of times a year and always find it a treat. The food is always unique and fun to try. The wine list is excellent and there is something for everyone. Our choices were varied, Everything from hanger steak to trout. We had excellent appetizers. The rolls are served in the pan in which they are baked and have two types of whipped butter. If you want to try something a little different you will love Hudson's on the bend."

  • "Wonderful evening with thunderstorms rolling through the area and rain beating the roof. Great setting for a great meal. The elk was superb and the service outstanding. Perfect spacing of the food....no rush and no long waits before the next course. A awesome wine with dinner and a happy wife. Could not have been better."

  • "Wide variety of exotic and locally farmed meats. Big, bold flavors from a variety of cooking techniques including: marinades, rubs, smoking and sauces. Really delicious surprises in every bite."

  • "We've been going to Hudson's for 13 years, and since March 4th was a special occasion, this of course was our first choice. So it was with two other couples in the room, one celebrating a birthday and the other, like us, celebrating an anniversary. As we have come to expect, the food was outstanding. There are no salt and pepper shakers on the tables, and if there were, their use would ruin perfectly prepared cuisine. We always start with Duck Diablo, which sets the stage for flavors to come. Service was, as always, impeccable. On that Tuesday night, it was quiet! We could actually talk to each other! Hudson's is in an old house, so the decor fits like an old, very comfortable glove. We love it at Hudson's and will of course be back."

  • "We had a Groupon for here and used it. The food was excellent and the portions were perfect for sharing with each other. We had dinner outside in the courtyard and it was lovely. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a great evening out or celebrating a special occasion. Be prepared though the prices are very $$$ so if you can get a discount through Living Social or Groupon do it! Also be prepared as it is off a very busy road and can be very difficult to find. Allow yourselves plenty of time to get there. We went on a Friday afternoon and it took us an hour from DT Austin."

  • "Even on a crowded Saturday night, the food and service were impeccable. After a modest 20 minute wait, our party was seated and attentive service reigned throughout the evening. Every dish impressed us with unusual preparations and impressive presentations. Beef, fish and fowl were all superb. Remains one of our top five in Austin."

  • "My wife and I visited Hudson's on the Bend for the first time recently. I can't believe we waited so long to give it a try. Great food and outstanding service. I really enjoyed the variety of items on the menu. The prices may seem a little scary to some, but I walked away not feeling like I had overpaid. Highly recommend!"

  • "Hudson's is far and away the best overall restaurant my wife and I frequent in Austin [and we have been to several of the nationally known eateries]. There is a clear, marked difference in the style, atmosphere, and service you receive at Hudson's. Everything is impeccable. This was a special dinner for my wife and my parents and I have heard from them every day since our visit how wonderful every single facet of our dining experience was. 5 / 5, hands down for everything."

  • "I have eaten at Hudson's on the Bend about 8 times in the past 14 years. It is always an excellent meal. I am used to paying about $10 - 20 for an entree, so for me to feel that I have received a good value for the money when I eat at Hudson's, I feel is a testament to how much I like their food. I tend to choose this location for special occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I was happy to see that they have designated some of their items gluten-free and they were willing to work with us when a particular item wasn't denoted gluten-free but could be made that way. For a special occasion or any reason that you are looking for fine dining with excellent food quality, I highly recommend."

  • "Went to Hudson on the Bend based on reviews and unfortunately was disappointed. Service can only be defined as slow at best we started dinner at 8:15 and ended at 11pm (that was for 3 courses!) the menu sounds fascinating but I think it's a case of the chef adding too many flavors in and not hitting any one in particular. Let me be clear the food was cooked well enough there just wasn't anything I'd call "special" about any of the dishes we tried, definitely nothing that would justify the prices being charged. Save yourself some time the wait isn't worth it."

  • "The meat was delicious, had steak and duck, but the side veggies tasted like the came from a frozen bag and were heated in a microwave. The dessert was dry and you coukd tell it was not fresh. If we had paid full price for the meal, I would have been extremely disappointed."
