I could have done without the noise of the Giants fans, but dinner was great. I hope to get back tonight for one last meal before the new owners take over. I'll miss Hudson. I'm hopeful the new owner will bring the same great food, drinks, and atmosphere.

I brought out-of-town family for a special meal here on a friend's recommendation and based on open table rating. The bar was full and lively, and a ball game was on. We sat in the dining room. Our party had excellent appetizers and salads (the squash blossom appetizer was outstanding) but when it came to the entrees, only mine was good, a very nice preparation of lamb. Everyone else had a bad experience with pizza that was almost inedible, and overcooked schnitzel. With so many great places to eat in the Bay Area and so many with great woodfired pizza, I can't see returning here. A promising meal that ended with a thud.

I didn't care for my fried chicken. It did not have great flavor and the chicken was a very small portion. However, my husband enjoyed his pizza. Service was good, the ambiance was good. Over all I thought it was just okay.

There is a back room that was perfect for us (older adults who wanted to have a conversation). Up front seemed very noisy when we left, so we wouldn't have been happy there. One of us ordered the risotto, and tried not to mention it to anyone but it was clear that something was wrong when he only ate a small part. Turned out it was too salty to eat. I urged him just to tell the staff so that others don't have the same experience (hopefully). They were very apologetic, and brought ice cream out for two despite our saying we had to leave quickly to go to the theatre (it took ten minutes to get someone's attention about the risotto). That was a nice gesture, and they were appropriately solicitous about the ruined dish.

Miserable food. Greasy, poorly served in enormous portions. Clueless staff, wrong things brought to the table twice before the staff got their act together. No wonder this place is closing down. A sad end to what used to be (in the days of Garibaldi) a nice neighborhood gem.

My wife and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary with an elegant and superb dinner at Hudson's this week. The ambiance is what I was the most impressed with. I wanted the atmosphere to be suitable and to be the exclamation point on what's been a great first few years of marriage. Hudson's provided just that. The wine was good the food was good. Portion sizes were a bit small -- but let's be honest -- every restaurant's portions should be smaller to help tackle this country's obesity problem. The price was right for the experience and for the quality of service and food we got. Peep their menu prior to going if you're interested in their selections/prices. Overall I give Hudson's an "A". Very pleased.

Nice ambiance - would almost say 'elegant'. Spacious table layout, less cramped and noisy than most restaurants of similar caliber. While not a place for large groups, the number of large round tables makes it a good choice for parties of 6, maybe even 8. Eclectic menu, easy to find something new and different. Our table of 6 ordered everything from poki to pizza, fried chicken to buccatini, and all of it was good. Cocktails made with care, reasonable choice of wines by the glass. Only down note - the service was slow to start and went downhill from there. By the end of 2-1/2 hours we were more than ready to leave. Something needs to happen in the kitchen and/or staff training.

Great atmosphere - the restaurant somehow manages to be both upscale and home-y at the same time. Our server was busy and wouldn't check in for long periods of time, but her demeanor and knowledge of the menu were second to none. The food itself was good but nothing to write home about. I'll likely give Hudson a second chance but am in no rush to return.

Arriving early for our reservations we had a drink in the bar first. There is an excellent cocktail list, incluing the Dealer's Choice where the bartender (in our case, Alex, an excellent mixologist)will custom craft a cocktail for you when you tell him what you like. Then, moving to the dining room, we started with a great cheese plate and crispy squash blossoms, followed entrees of olive oil poached halibut and grilled hangar steak. A very good Tcho dark chocolate budino with espresso ice cream was a nice finish. Paul was our very competent and accomodating server. We dined early,5:30 as the restaurant is very popular and does get filled up later. Reservations certainly advised.

Our visit was a big disappointment! Had really enjoyed this place when they first opened, but the food was not up to par this time: tomato burrata salad with barely a smattering of burrata, nicoise salad that bore no resemblance to what one would expect from a nicoise; roasted chicken that was undercooked and heavily smoked, very unpleasant. I hope they make some changes quick or this place will not stick around.

Our waiter answered our many questions patiently and thoroughly. They brought two candles on our dessert because I had mentioned we were celebrating two birthdays. We want to like it, but Hudson's is just not that great. We waited 20 minutes when we had a reservation. our service was fair at best.. It took forever for the server to come in the first place. You have to ask for bread, and it took 3 requests to get it the first time. There were 4 of us, and it took three requests again the SECOND time. Our food came at different times. Our second drinks came as we were ready for dessert, really too late. The server at that pont excused everything with "too crowded, too short-staffed" which does not play well at the end of an evening when we had brought out of town guests here. Food portions, eg pasta dishes, squash blossom appetizer, are small. The room was so noisy we couldn't hear each other.

I never write a review. Never. But had to do it this time, as the restaurant was that good. We loved our cocktails, and were thrilled that the "mixologist" took the time to write out the recipes so we could try them at home. We also loved the pace of the service: attentive, but gave us time between courses to enjoy our conversations. Last, the food was fantastic. Simple and yet a depth of flavors not found often. While the prices dictate that we can't go back as often as we'd like, the memories will linger.
