Diner Reviews
  • "We have been here four times prior, and thought it was pretty good, but I just don't get the new menu change! When I booked with opentable, I checked the menu and it was interesting. But what a surprise when we arrived to find that the menu changed to tapas style. How does that happen within 24 hours, opentable is definitely not up to date. The food was not to my liking and it was definitely over priced. An expensive evening with a not so enjoyable dinner Sorry, I have never written a bad review, but this was definitely very disappointing!"

  • " Great place for an intimate dinner or a group. My husband and I celebrated an anniversary there last night & we couldn't have been happier! We were pampered and had a lot of laughs w/ our waitress. Fun food and drinks with surprises. Thank you!"

  • "the food is pretty and so is the place but the tastes of the food just don't appeal to enough palates and it actually just wasn't that good. some of the food bordered on weird/bad tasting. there are so many restos that come and go. The ones that staythey have the total package, this one won't last."

  • "The Spanish omelette was made to perfection and we asked if we could get a side chorizo (which wasn’t on the menu and they were able to make it for us!) We will definitely be coming back for brunch!"

  • "The new sharing menu was fantastic can't wait to come back and try the items we didn't pick."

  • "Food was memorably spectacular, a very original menu both in terms of contents and format. A small but very respectable wine list."

  • "I was really looking forward to try Hudson Kitchen after reading so much about it. The starters were very good - both the short rib lettuce wraps and the fried chicken sliders but we were very disappointed in the food - we ordered the papardelle with braised rabbit which was tasting but the pasta was overcooked and stuck togehter. Once we called it out to our waiter he graciously took away the 4 orders of the pasta and took our orders for new main courses of flat iron steak and the salmon. boht these dishes were disappointing as well, the steak was tough and the salmon was fishy and not appealing in a bowl full of broth. Not sure if it was an off night but I hope they can get their food up to the same level as their service."

  • "Really enjoyed this place. Food was done with a marvelous touch. Inventive and well executed without being over the top. Service was friendly and good. Definitely will be returning."

  • "Really imaginative cooking and warm, friendly service. The cocktails were great too! I've never had a chilled cucumber soup that was so good as the one I had at HK. My vegetable ragout perhaps less successful (it turns out that rye polenta is a better idea than a reality). I hope we can go back soon, and next time sit on their patio."

  • "The food was quite good, service was up to par, and ambience was just as it looks in their online pictures. I would go again!"

  • "We dined at Hudson Kitchen for father's day and had a great experience. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back."

  • "I had heard mixed reviews about this place but the pictures on the website looked gorgeous; I had to try it out. The bread was 'meh' and the (sweet potato?) dip tasted like baby food. The broccoli salad would have been better without the deep fried bits (I get the broccoli three ways thing but they tasted burnt; they did not add to the salad at all). The flank steak was a strange colour and the orange sauce was gross. The pasta with the duck was the best part if you don't include the drinks. I will not be returning to this place."

  • "What a fantastic restaurant! The food was delicious, especially the roasted cauliflower, the brussel sprouts & the short rib wraps. The décor is edgy & trendy. The staff was awesome. I am most certainly making this a repeat spot!"

  • "Loved the neighbourhood feel while remaining upscale and trendy. Not pretentious in any way. Decorated beautifully, with each room having its own style. Planning to go back several times!"

  • "My wife and I were at Hudson Kitchen on Friday night for the first time and had a great experience. We enjoyed one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant in a long, long time. I had the halibut entrée and it was incredible. My wife had the lamb which she loved as well. We also shared two of the snack items, their homemade bread and the olive oil cake. She also enjoyed their special cocktail concoction with gin, mint, etc that was a great way to start off her meal. Our server provided great wine recommendations, helped us choose the right food and paced the evening perfectly. A completely first class experience."

  • "Service was excellent. Meals were well prepared. Fish dish was good but confess I preferred the lamb (from a previous visit). "

  • "The ambiance and service were great and we had an enjoyable evening. The food was definitely good but not outstanding, and we didn't feel the restaurant warranted the hype. "

  • "We had really high hopes, and while the service and ambiance were great the food just wasn't that great. The veggies were all undercooked. A plate of carrots had a lovely caramel color and looked fabulous but they were basically raw. Similar issue with Brussels sprouts. And everything seems a little under-seasoned and lacking in flavor generally, and worse, nothing arrived especially hot, which seems odd since we were there pretty early and I believe the first table served. A halibut entree had a totally raw squid tentacle section, which seemed unintentional. For the money I'd be really hesitant to give them another chance when there are so many other spectacular options in the neighborhood. "

  • "This was my second time at Hudson's kitchen and they delivered once again. I have some tricky food restrictions and they were awesome and made my restrictions feel like a welcomed challenge rather than a burden. Cocktails and wine list were spot on! Well done. Can't wait to come again soon :) x"

  • "The food was beyond amazing, our server was the perfect amount of attentive and our cocktails were nice and strong. We were a table of 4 and when we arrived for our reservation, our table was ready and waiting. We all agreed that we would definitely be back with other people. Thank you, Hudson Kitchen for blowing our minds!"

  • "We loved "Hudson Kitchen" - it is my namesake and after marrying and abandoning my name "Hudson" I went purely on the name for our anniversary dinner and we were so pleased with the creative food and drinks! Great cocktails and good wines! We'll go again for sure."

  • "Went here for brunch with my boyfriend and friend. We were greeted warmly by manager Laura Skene. Our server was knowledgeable of the dishes on the menu and provided recommendations. The Benedict was amazing and comes highly recommended. Great spot, nice and bright and because we were there later (around 1:30 p.m.) the place had occupied tables, but it was quiet enough to have a relaxing conversation. Will be back soon."

  • "What a beautiful room, with the sun streaming in on a crisp March Sunday morning. The service and ambience is fantastic. The food was a bit disappointing: my omelette was quite bland and the plate spartan. My wife's eggs benny were fine, except the eggs were underdone. Again, her plate seemed quite spartan. We had lots of coffee, though, and our server was very good. I have beeen here for dinner and loved it a lot. We will go back for brunch and choose something different to eat."

  • "After hearing many good opinions about this restaurant, I finally got the chance to experience it by myself. The service was mediocre and the food was disappointing. Nothing special and definitely not worth coming back for. I got the duck main and the skin was not crispy at all and it was just tasteless. When the waiter asked how we liked our meal, I told him that I actually didn't enjoy mine. His answer was just a smile and he left again. Like, seriously? Whatever, definitely won't go back!"

  • "Took my daughter to Hudson Kitchen for her birthday - a milestone - the evening started off great - the server brought us each a glass of Prosecco, which was very yummy - as we were enjoying our bubbly and the ambiance, a very annoying 20 something and her boyfriend were seated at the table next to us - why on earth would she think that everyone in the restaurant would be interested in hearing about her life!!!!!! The ambiance sank to the bottom of our wine glasses and we ate our delicious meals in silence. Even the outstanding service couldn't make the noise go away - make sure you order the brussel sprouts - they are out of this world!"

  • "Recently had brunch with a friend for the first time. Very comfortable seats in upper area. Good sized coffee mugs (nothing worse then those tiny ones). Offered soy as a option for my latte, which was a lovely surprise. Small but delicious brunch menu. Very nice staff who allowed us to eat at our own pace. Menu very reasonably priced."

  • "Small, unique menu. Adorable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Plus I love that coffee comes in a big serious mug."

  • "Excellent service, really and truly, but pretentious with the jargon. A "mixologist" straight out of Portlandia. Food was beautifully plated but indelicate when it came to seasoning. It was as though my meal consisted of three unrelated things a la carte, rather than a complimentary fusion of flavours. Atmosphere was lovely, but sadly, we won't be returning. Over-hyped."

  • "We had walked by Hudson Kitchen before and finally got to try it. It was a little more expensive than our usual weekday dinner out, but everything was really good, which is worth paying for. Everything we had was really tasty (we had the aged duck and BC salmon) and presented well. The bartender clearly know what he was doing. I remember thinking the people at the next table were crazy to order wine when the cocktails were so good. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The service was outstanding. It took a little before we got our table. However, we did not even complain because they apologized and offered us drinks and appetizers Great bartender as well. A true mixologist!"
