Diner Reviews
  • "I hadn't been back here in a while and was so happy I did. New menu, mixing formal and casual items. First, I had a ricotta and hot pepper jam crostini from their "small bites" section of the menu. So unique. Then I had the best fish taco as an appetizer and roasted duck breast as a main meal. I had read a review from an Esquire Magazine writer saying that it was the "best duck in America". I agree. So much flavour. The setting is beautiful, with a sunset over the Hudson River. The service was really good. The server was friendly and prompt and knew the menu from top to bottom. We wanted for nothing the entire night. They now are having weekday specials. I want to come back for the Wednesday suckling pig or live music on Thurs+Friday."

  • "we enjoyed a wonderful dinner in a very nice setting overlooking the Hudson.."

  • "It's a beautiful location. The food was good. Our server only had two tables to take care of, but he was never around. When he was visible he never gave our table a glance. We repeatedly had to flag him down to get service. We definitely won't go back."

  • "Food was pretty good, setting is gorgeous, service is very amature..."

  • "Hate to say, this was probably the worst service I have had in years. The server was nice, overly apologetic, but the reality is I will not come back here. Shame since they had such good potential. Took over 30 mins just to get in a drink order. One of our fish orders was not edible. This place needs a drastic overhaul."

  • "When we first arrived, the hostess tried to seat us at a tiny table against a wall in a dark spot (talk about clostraphobic) right across from the music. I asked if we could have a table on the porch (there were plenty available). She hesitated, went to ask someone (why I don't know) and finally gave in. My friend had the mussels and French fries, which she liked; however, part of my chicken was raw, and the basmati rice was greasy. I also found it annoying that the waitress came and refilled our water (even when it was almost full) about 12-15 times! I have better food - and really good portions - for a fraction of your price at the Croton Diner! Nope, wouldn't eat at your place again..."

  • "We always enjoy dining at this local restaurant! Food is well presented and delicious. Gorgeous views of the Hudson River from the back patio and porch areas. Soft jazz music adds a lovely touch to the evening."

  • "We had a lovely evening at Hudson at Haymount House. The food was delicious. The space is lovely and elegant without being at all stuffy. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Everything was great. A good find!"

  • "We have eaten here half a dozen times since we discovered it a few months ago. This is what we love: fantastic views of the Hudson river, gracious interior (with working fireplace), elegant and attentive service, lovely bar, and really great food, beautifully presented. The entrance alone is worth a visit. The menu is not intimidating - there is even a hamburger - and not overpriced, but lick-your-plate delicous. There is always something new that we can't wait to try. This time we had the roasted beet salad, fettucine bolognese and the best bread pudding ever, for dessert. Each of these dishes was fantastic and somehow original and fresh and fun to eat. such a jewel of a place, Kudos."

  • "Dining in the Mansion was a lovely way to spend a spring evening. The sun setting on the Hudson River was amazing. It was a Sunday night of Memorial Day Weekend so it was very, very quiet. We were the only people at the bar and that was a bit unusual. The service was good but they seemed overwhelmed?? "

  • "We had the best night! The food was amazing - I loved the port poached mission fig salad. The service was truly attentive and professional. The owner was friendly and went out of his way to make sure everything was right. It's a beautiful place and there's live music on Thursday and Friday nights. I highly recommend it. "

  • "If you're looking for a special place to go for a romantic dinner or dinner with good friends where you can actually hear each other talk, Hudson at Haymount House is the place to go. The food is superb (I had the Prince Edward Island Mussels and Halibut, the service very attentive and excellent and the ambience top notch. Be sure to ask for a table by the windows so you will be able to get a beautiful view of the grounds and the Hudson River. I highly recommend Hudson at Haymount House and will definitely go back again."

  • "New summer menu at Haymount House! Very good tapenade to start was worthy of Provence, but would be easier to eat if toasts are provided for dipping. Loved the halibut with Israeli couscous in a mildly spicy sauce. Salmon was cooked to perfection and nicely accompanied now by beets. Have not had a bad dessert here yet. View of the Hudson River is lovely on a summer evening."

  • "My wife and I had dinner last week (2nd time) at this gem of a place in Westchester. The interior style presents well as both a upscale casual place to dine or a romantic retreat for dinner with scenic views of the Hudson. Food was excellent. We started with salmon tartare & grilled octopus salad. Both recommended. Since I am not meat-friendly, I decided on the Atlantic skate, which I don't often see on menus. It came sautéed, perfectly cooked, with sides of potato puree + Romaine. My wife had the NY Strip steak which was well worth the price. We finished the evening with 2 desserts which we shared: the chocolate and the warm apple crisp. Both yummy. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Go and enjoy - we heartily recommend this place!"

  • "What a jewel! This Haymount House restaurant has the most astonishing Hudson views at sunset and the best atmosphere. I was just delighted to have dinner there for the second time at this beautiful and classic restaurant, with its excellently tasty gourmet food and its first-class service; the price is quite fair for the totality of the experience. No wonder at my first dinner there, the Rockefellers were holding a business dinner next to my table. Now I just looking forward, my cousin's wedding celebration will be held there. "

  • "Came with the hubby and had quick drink at the bar. That quick drink turned into a quick " small bite"! They just added a whole section to the menu, for little food items! Had the homage ricotta with this local pepper jam on crostini, haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Then we sat for dinner to an amazing view we think, it was raining, but we saw lights off in the distant which made us think it would be gorgeous. He loved his Pork Milanese and for me it was the Octopus that really hit the spot! Service was of course attentive, as expected. Looking forward to going back soon, according to a flyer, there will be a Tuesday burger special soon. Can't wait to see the real view in the evening, not the fake one from my imagination!"

  • "I made a 6:15p reservation and they were only doing brunch that day - without any notification. Food was decent although $60 for waffles is a bit much! The service was terrible. The staff were mostly untrained kids, which is fine at Denny's but not when spending close to $100/person. I had to ask for parts of my order twice and since we were the last setting, we had to ask for check while they completely reset the dining room around us. "

  • "I took my 94 year old aunt there for Mothers Day. They sat us near a window so we could enjoy the lovely view of the lawn and beyond. We ordered our meal (it was a 3 course Pre Fixe) but it took a very long time for them to bring our first course. Half way though, it my aunt who was quite hungry, asked if maybe we could have some bread? They totally FORGOT to bring us bread and butter. Then the main course came and it was tasty but the "chimichuri sauce" was awful. So far, I was not feeling that $59 per person was such a great deal. They got our desert order wrong too. However, the manager comped us on our drinks which was cool. I would not recommend this place till they work out the kinks with the service!! "

  • "From the spoiled milk for my kids (i actually tasted), to the shamefully over priced prix fixe brunch menu ($25 for kids menu buttered pasta, $60 for two very small courses for adult), to the slightly better then airplane food (really below average in every way), to the very awkward service (novice and not even cordial) this was by far one of the most dissappointing and horrible dining experiences. I'm completely perplexed as to how this restaurants stays open. I can't say one good thing about the experience...and by the way the view is not even that spectacular. "

  • "The Haymount House was an interesting find. It is a gorgeous mansion up on a small hill in Briarcliff Manor. Tables by the window all have nice views of the Hudson and the Palisades. The ambiance was romantic and food was good. However, the service was erratic. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there. The hostess and our waitress were very attentive and kept wishing us Happy Anniversary. But the server kept mixing up the dishes between me and my husband (he was very obviously inexperienced). Nevertheless, still a nice place."

  • "This was our 2nd experience at HH. On our first visit, I agreed with prior reviews that the food was very good but the service fell short. I am happy to say on this visit the food was excellent and the service greatly improved. "

  • "Every restaurant has it's off days as previously mentioned in the 1 star reviews but I am thrilled we chose to ignore them and went anyway. Anthony C, our server was polite, courteous and engaging. The food was absolutely fantastic, appetizers were on point with the gnocchi sautéed with butter and vegetables and a dash of salt hit the mark and the beet salad that was off the charts. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the Skate entrée needed just a squirt of lemon to make it sing. Great Manhattan type bar with cool background music completed the scene. Gerard, the Maitre d' was a professional and enthusiastic host. Can't wait to go back, again and again....."

  • "We have been to Haymount several times and we always come away with enjoying an excellent dining experience. The combination of local foods and creativity of the chef to combine them into a delicious meal always pleases us. We enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and attentive service. Even though Easter is a busy holiday, we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves and did not feel rushed. The lamb was outstanding and I would recommend it when it is on the menu."

  • "The food was surprisingly good. Mussel appetizer was terrific and he sauce was great with the olive bread. I had the octopus appetizer and skate. The octopus was nicely cooked, not tough, but served over a potato salad-like mixture. I would have preferred crispy toast. My skate was tender and pleasantly seasoned. The rigatoni was perfectly cooked, rich sauce but not overpowering. Likewise the carbonara. The highlight of the evening was the unexpected entertainment: a singer accompanied by a keyboardist. They performed well a wide range of jazz and popular songs. The music was pleasant in the background, and startling good at times. Service was efficient and not intrusive. Overall, it was a very nice experience. "

  • "Read the reviews and wasn't sure we were in the same restaurant!!!. For a Saturday night it was dead! One waiter for the whole place. Asked for lemon for the water many times till it was brought. Appetizers brought to share had to ask for utensils to serve. My husbands dinner was very over done. Waiter never came by to ask if everything was ok. When he did bring the bill he noticed that he had not eaten it. Owner walked around asking if everything was ok but obviously didn't look around. Would not return. "

  • "We enjoyed our dinners at Haymount House. Salads were outstanding. Lamb pasta was excellent however the steak left something to be desired. It was nothing special that is it lacked seasoning and appeared dry in spite of the order for medium. Dessert was the cherries and ice cream which was great."

  • "This is a great neighborhood spot, great food and helpful non-intrusive service. Live music on Friday nights added a nice lively touch, good band--but ask for seating in the far room, better for conversation. Salmon and chicken entrees were both delicious, wine recommended by our server was perfect with both--and we liked that bar food was also available in the main dining room on Fridays. Hope to go back more often!"
